Where are we today ?
Wonderful sleep last night, windows open. Fresh air and quiet just love this part of the country. Early morning walkabouts for a while, gotta love it!
Then shortly after 9 am I took a trip into Lakefield 10 minutes down the road, few groceries, return some empties and drive about town for a few minutes. A couple nice old bulidings here.

Back home I whipped a small pot of chicken noodle soup, from last night grilled chicken. Just enough for couple bowls for lunch.

love homemade soups |
Then we got to enjoy a very peaceful afternoon reading. Something we both love when we have the time !
Got a text from friends, Emile and Monique, Happy hour at their place 4 o'clock. So wandered up there for a nice social time and at 5 pm we hopped in the car and headed into Buckhorn.

another fun social time here in the park |
Now into Buckhorn to Celebrate or 22nd wedding anniversary EARLY. It is this Friday but we are having company arriving then, late in the day to camp with us, so not possible on Friday.
We have been to this small pub before a couple years ago and enjoyed their homemade food, and extremely good pan fried Pickerel (Walleye for our American friends). Small cozy place good food and great service.
It is also a neighbourhood pub and we chatted with few friendly locals. just a nice place to relax, with atmosphere and enjoy good food. A Monday at 5 pm, pretty quiet, just the way we like it1

After full tummies we headed on out back to the park shortly after 6 pm , Good service atmosphere, reasonably priced and awesome company with my honey of 22 years (on friday).

That was our excellent day, just enjoying this wonderful weather, temps about 86 f (30c), a nice breeze, shady spot and reading our books between walkabouts. And a few chats here and there. Does it get much better? Think not!
Thanks again for stopping on by to enjoy this day with us too.
Check out the interactive map below to see where we have been this Spring and Summer.
What a cute place for a celebration. Happy early anniversary you two.
ReplyDeleteThanks guys, we love small town, local places and this one is wonderful.
DeleteMay I wish you an early happy anniversary and many, many more. You guys are just newly weds compared to my wife and I. we have been married for somewhere around 52 years or so and still going strong.
ReplyDeleteThanks D-D we looking forward to many more too.
DeleteGlad that you 2 are still going strong, thats a great accomplishment in this day and age.
I love the looks of that restaurant. It looks like it has so much charm. Happy Anniversary ... celebrate as often as you can.
ReplyDeleteThanks guys is a nice cozy place with great food.
DeleteWe like to celebrate every day.
Anniversary wishes to you and Suzie for Friday - the buildings look interesting. .love country pubs - the locals are always friendly. .
ReplyDeleteThanks Leslie, nothing quite like small towns and local small business.
DeleteCrikey ..... I was wondering what the heck pickerel was. Just as well you included pictures, aye?? That restaurant looks very cosy and nice. My Mum and Dad love dining early like that. No people. Just the way they like it too. You've been married 22 years???? Well done. Have a very happy Anniversary on Friday and eat icecream. All celebrations should include icecream. My Mum and Dad have been married for about 43 years. that's a REAL long time, aye?????
ReplyDeletePickerel is fish, Charlie, I had my own restaurant for 10 years, and the people who come in earlier avoid the dinner rush and can enjoy a quiet meal usually.
DeleteWow 43 years , congratulations Mum and Dad.
We no room for ice cream after that delicious meal, will no doubt have some this week though.
Sounds like a great way to spend the day. I can recall eating pickerel as a kid but haven't even heard the word in years.
ReplyDeleteIt is another of our favorite fish, especially here in Ontario.
DeleteIt's not just the Americans that call pickerel "Walleye" they use that term out here in Saskatchewan all the time and "Jack" for pike.
ReplyDeleteGlad you had a nice early anniversary dinner! Wishing your an early Happy Anniversary for Friday as I may be to busy to wish it to you then.

Thanks Ruth, have heard the fish referred to both ways, guess it depends where live. Either way it is wonderful!
DeleteYou will have busy weekends there for a while yet.
What a charming place for a special meal. NIce to have favorites scattered here and there. Glad you enjoyed a second day of peace and quiet.
ReplyDeleteOver the years we have ventured out to quite a few places wherever we went for particular types of food.
DeleteAnd will return to some we enjoy when the occasion arises.
We will enjoy all the peace and quiet we can get, love it.
