Where are we today?
Stratford Ontario
After a good day yesterday another wonderful usual sleep and feels great. I know I was using my legs yesterday the muscles were telling me that and is part of my exercise project, A little bit every day works well.
So some puttering around , computing etc, wheel chair around coffee and stop by the Kitchen to chat with the cook Michael who made me 2 scrambled eggs and one piece of toast for my 8:30 am snack. Back home to get the walker and a few more laps just to loosen things up a bit.
Suzie called about 9:30 and said she may not come over today with all this weather, even though only 6 minutes away in good weather the visibility and roads were not that good, just told her whatever works for her stay safe and sound right were the is. Arrived about 10:30 am it is snowing and blowing there pretty good snow squalls, blowing and windy, causing drifting here and there. and just before noon we headed to the dining room she had her sandwich and soup, and I enjoyed a ham salad sandwich and even a bowl of his very tasty soup just hit the spot.
had been snowing overnight views this morning at sunrise |
Enjoying the afternoon for a while reading for a bit chatting for awhile watching the heavy snow falls. It let up shortly after 3 pm so she hopped in the car and headed on home while the going was good. Stopped for a few things and was home safe and sound before 4 pm. Another of these friendly nurses came in to give me my meds (Val) and we chatted for a while and like all these wonderful care givers are so friendly they really make me feel so comfortable are interested caring for us both Suzie and I and the lifestyle we have enjoyed for the last 13 plus years. They sure make us feel at home.
Early breakfast at 3:30 this morning hit the spot |
parking lot looking good to start |
a tasty homemade soup this morning sound interesting and was very tasty |
both Lunch and supper looking good as well |
early today not too bad outside right now |
then it was blowing and snowing |
a tasty Craft beer for Happy Hour |
supper was excellent added my salad and of course a bit of hot sauce |
a nice habanero hot sauce souvenir from Borrego Springs California I enjoy |
That was a very nice relaxing day no visitors watching the stormy weather outside and some quality time together with my honey, does not get much better than that here in this cold winter weather that will soon be much colder and snowy. And some freedom to do some inside walkabouts as well.
Want to thank y'all for taking the time to join us and hope you a had a wonderful day as well.

Your positive attitude is amazing George!
ReplyDeleteThank Stew positive attitude keeps me going and smiling, one day at a time.
DeleteIs there any chance you can go home?
ReplyDeleteI can go home for visits and for short outings but the reality is most likely live the rest on my days here how ever many there may be. I am having good days right now taking advantage of them, but that can turn south at any given time. I do still need some care here. If I leave I will not be able to return here.
Deletei like looking at all the beautiful snow, would not want to live with it :) I know where you picked up your BS Habanero Hot Sauce - let me know if you need more, but I doubt the charizo would survive the trip.
ReplyDeleteYou days are sounding pretty good, praying for many more good one.
Looking at it is nice butter living with it over 55 years we got real tired of it.
DeleteThanks for the offer Jeff much appreciated, but I do have a good supply of it right here the meat will just have to do.
The days are pretty good and make use of them as much as possible. Will take all the good ones we can get.
Oh George, I was afraid to ask the question Flowergirl asked. I'm glad you are having good days to share with the people you love. Hospice certainly does make it all just a bit more bearable for everyone, but oh so hard. Your attitude is incredible.
ReplyDeleteThat is the reality , we all have to go sometime and the wonderful life we have enjoyed together living our dreams we have no regrets and I am pain free, This hospice is amazing could not ask for anythings better.
DeleteSounds like you have that place under control!! Glad to see you doing some quality control in the kitchen. Have fun!!
ReplyDeleteLOL . Lorne they actually have a pretty good handle on it. And the do treat us like Royalty , don't want to change a thing.
DeleteIts great to see u are having good days and u are getting the care u need u are an inspiration to many keep that positive attitude u r in my thoughts and prayers
ReplyDeleteHeather thanks for all your kind thoughts and prayers , much appreciated. The care here` is what I need andI am enjoy all the good days I can get.
DeleteNice to have a cook that will work with you. Michael sounds like a great guy.
ReplyDeleteWe'll be over in Borrego Springs in a couple of weeks. I'll have to check out the hot sauce and sausage place.
Dave the Centre market is the only store there , some not a lot of selection and expensive The fresh made chizoro had a very tasty goo mix to it and the Sauce is a nice souvenir . Enjoy Borego Springs for us , missing it already.
DeleteMichael is a super guy. like to cook some tasty meals for residents here and does a wonderful job at it as well, He can cook pretty well whatever you have as long as the supplies are on hand either that or he will buy it and cook it for you.
I'm surprised by all that snow you are having there. Back home where we live on Lake Erie there is none so far although I don't care as we are in Florida now. Great so see you walking and moving about. Soon you'll be jogging along the hallways ;-)
ReplyDeleteEnough snow here for now, and nine at home ,must be the warm lake effect from Erie. At least you can enjoy the warmth and sunshine there. Don't know about jogging but at least walking works for me.
DeleteThose menus are great. Thanks for showing them to us.
ReplyDeleteI love them too , you can see Michal enjoys his work here.
DeleteThe thing hanging in the tree outside your window looks like my crown, I've been looking for that for quite sometime. That snow really makes it look cold out there. Suzie looks like a pretty bird bath out the window. You be careful out there Suzie.
ReplyDeleteBlessing to your both.
That thing in the window is actually a Christmas decoration I have had for years and always find a place for to hang it.
DeleteIt quite cold quite cold -7 C about about 44F but with the strong cold winds and dampness feels much colder.
Suzie is a very good driver and grew up in the country on the back roads , much safer than the highways.
Another good day! The snow looks pretty but I am sure it is very cold there. Just had to smile when I read your nurse brought you your happy hour beer. You are getting spoiled and deservingly so. Good night, sweet dreams!
ReplyDeleteYes Ms B the snow is nice to look at but cold.
DeleteThe nurses do bering my medications parts of their job right? And the beer is prescribed , just another med, also my favorite, This is a good place to be if a need to be, And being spoiled yes we are here,. G night for now.
I hate to admit it but I used to love snow days when the kids were small. Those are some of the best memories all cozy inside while the storm was blowing outside. Thanks for the reminder. Sounds like you and Suzie had a wonderful day just being together and that is what it is all about when you love and are loved. You are both in our prayers and thoughts.
ReplyDeleteThe snow days have so many memories for e as well. Even days snow in at home from work or the country roads close down here all special.
DeleteOur time together is precious and all we need is each other and awesome memories ( and we have a lot) to be happy over these past 30 years.
You have it made in the shade George. Are you sure you're not faking it for the attention? Seriously though, you have a very nice place to stay and evidently a wonderful staff. Snow is always beautiful when you're inside where it's warm.
ReplyDeleteYes Doug yo are right I do have it made. wish I was taking it bt the docs are the specialists. Lately I feel too good to be here but they tell me it won't last . I will take this attention when I can get it, And this staff amazing o say the least. Don't mind looking outside at that cold and snow as long as we are warm and cozy.
DeleteAlways nice to be inside toasty warm on a cold Winter's day. I agree with you about the back roads being safer than highways for sure. You and Suzie are handling all this very well George and you are an inspiration for the rest of us out here who will one day be facing our own morality.
ReplyDeleteOooops, the last word of my comment should have read MORTALITY.
ReplyDeleteYes they are much safe and I agree we all end up at the end of the road and we have have an amazing journey. No regret and now to enjoy all the good times left and amazing memories we have created over the years.
DeleteLooks like a perfect beautiful snow.
ReplyDeleteIt sure does look wonderful glad I don't have to be out there in it.
DeleteLittle green thingies .... I love it! I think you are in an amazing place with awesome care. One day at a time ... enjoy every minute of it!
ReplyDeleteYes I do too . love his creative signs here.
DeleteThis is amazing with awesome care. And yes Nancy One Day at Time we can enjoy every minute of it.
My comment was going to be similar to Nancy's. Little green thingys........hmm, our imaginations are running wild! ha ha Mike sounds like a fun guy, glad you get time to chatter with him in the kitchen. One of your favourite places to be.
ReplyDeleteGood to hear you are enjoy the days!
Yes nit sure what the thingys were but the soup was very tasty. Chatting with Mikeis alway fun we the look forward to sharing as few ideas etc. And I so enjoy the kitchen even seating to miss it.
DeleteLooks pretty outside, but guess you're glad to be inside! LOL. I'm glad Suzie knows when she should and should not drive. Looks icy there. Dinner looks yummy and so glad you get your salad! Do they not make salad there? I'm glad you're able to enjoy your beer still!
ReplyDeleteIt is pretty looking outside but much prefer the isnddies warmth or even the south west desert even more. He does make salads because they do not stock all the ingredients and most of these residents don't want them anyway. Bu they do keep on hand my beer and That is a good thing.
DeleteI thought the crown in the window were Al's squirrels... glad your keeping the kitchen honest and enjoying more freedom. Best to Suzie too.
ReplyDeletehat crown is a old coloured Christmas decoration I like. The Kitchen here is honest and the freedom love it,
DeleteI think you are doing surprisingly well George, and I sure hope you will get home soon but in the meantime you are being cared for extremely well and the food you are having looks better than a lot of restaurants serve. The different beers you are enjoying look very good too, and I would love to have on with you as it's very, very hot here for the last week at over 40C and not looking to get cooler any time soon. Wishing you and Suzie a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
ReplyDeleteYes I an doing very well, and beer you would be awesome down under.
DeleteMerry Christmas to you as well.
