Where are we today?
Stratford, Ontario
Just as I got to see George this morning, I got a message from my sister that she had my Dad at a doctors appointment in Tavistock and was wondering if she could bring him by. Of course. Dad hasn't seen George in a couple of weeks.
He immediately wanted to get dressed and get in his wheelchair. We met them at the door. Took them on a little tour of the facility and stopped by to visit someone else that the family knows. Great visit with her.
It was getting on to lunch time. They had the option of going out for lunch or joining us for french onion soup with bread and I had put 3 pieces of pizza in George's room. George earlier had a bacon sandwich so he just had a bowl of soup while Dad & I had pizza and soup. My sister took the picture, as she is camera shy. I am as well, but with a husband who is always taking pictures, I had to get used to it. We had a great visit.
We both had a bit of a rest this afternoon. I heard the nurse step in the room and out again. She was in to check and make sure George didn't need anything. She didn't even say a word and walked out very quietly. I was in the process of waking up so I had heard footsteps.
After our nap, we had a great chance to discuss some things. Earlier, when he was in the hospital, he just wasn't up to long conversation about our future, etc.
On my way home, I did more shopping for things that we needed either at the hospice or at home. I wasn't even home yet, when he sent me a picture of what he had for supper. He is getting really good taking pictures on his iPhone and sending them either via text or email.
George had meatballs, mashed potatoes with carrots and peas. Chocolate ice cream for dessert. Not is favourite.
When I got home, I cooked my first supper. Our turkey garlic sausage, boiled potatoes and salad. I didn't even burn anything. I felt that I had the time and not too tired to accomplish it.
Another great day for George and me.
One Day At A Time.
It is so good to see George up and about in his chair. Looking dapper as always. Very nice to get a family visit as well. All of the meals looked good! Keep on smiling!!

Totally love the updates. I know your cooking pain, but it looks like you did good. George would have loved it too, I’m sure. Bless you both.
ReplyDeleteHi George. Nice to see you looking so spiffy and all smiles! It has all happened so fast Im glad you are getting some time to sort it all out.
ReplyDeleteGeorge is looking great. Nice to have visitors to make the day go by. Glad you two got some talks about the future out of the way. Hope tomorrow is a good day as well.
ReplyDeleteHey George if you were to talk real nice to one of them there nurses maybe you could borrow a pair of scissors and make a nice pair of desert shorts out of those plaid pyjamas you have on. I don't figure it's gonna be too long before they wheel that Webber-Q in for ya and have you cooking for the staff and other residents. Just like your old Plattsville restaurant days eh:))
ReplyDeleteIt was good that George was able to visit with your Father and Sister today. Also looks like he has more of an appetite.
ReplyDeleteKeeping you both in our prayers.
It's about time.
So nice to see you up and about George. Next thing we'll see you behind the counter whipping up some lunch for the staff!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a terrific day ! George you are looking so good………up and about in the wheel chair…… all good !
ReplyDeleteAl’s message tonight was a riot ! He knows how to bring his under the weather buddy some good cheer !
I am right with everybody who wants the Weber Q wheeled into your classy room there ………… Maybe we can get
the private chef on duty to fire it up …… That would be a special day !
Keep doing well and Susie is the best, but you already know that ! Lots of prayers and thoughts coming to both of you.
It is wonderful that your Dad got in to see George today. That would make them both happy and you too. The meals he is eating are looking good and soon he'll be telling them what to make.
ReplyDeleteGood job on cooking for yourself, Suzie. You'll have to borrow Nancy's chef's hat soon! :)
Thanks for the updates!
Well George your looking pretty darn good! I thought I saw a patio out there for your weber Q LOL I guess it's a wee bit to cold though. Suzie your doing an amazing job with keeping us updated and all the running around. And you cooked up your own dinner and you didn't burn it, thats half the battel not burning. Keep up the good work and always sending prayers for you both.
ReplyDeleteAnother good day under your belt. So glad to see George eating and also wearing his trademark hat and smile.
ReplyDeleteYou even cooked for yourself...way to go! Thank you for giving us your precious time and keeping us updated...it is appreciated.
Thanks everyone one for the great wishes and Al for his comment as well. New plaid jammiest can't cut them up yet, stilll too cold , brrrr.....
DeleteSuzie did a great job with her meal I knew she could do it just out of pratice after a 30 year vacation from cooking, lol.....
DeleteThings continue to look up. Both of you seem to have adapted nicely to the new surroundings. That’s great news. Suzie you’re doing a super job of keeping the blog going. Next, you’ll be posting recipes 😀
ReplyDeleteYes Peter moving right along and She s doing a great job wit the blog for sure.
DeleteFirst, I have been making comments and for some reason they haven’t been coming through!! I hate that but please know I’m reading and so glad Suzie is doing such a great job walking us through the day with you!!!
ReplyDeleteIt’s so good to see you in your hat and vest along with the “George “‘smile!! You’re looking good....Al had a great idea about those Pjs but it does look a little cold for that!!!
Take care...prayers continue!!!
Looks like a really good day for the both of you. Glad your Dad and Sister could visit and enjoy a nice lunch with you too. Love those plaid PJ's. Suzie your dinner looked wonderful as did George's. Sounds like George is doing better and you could talk the future. Great job on the blog Suzie! Hugs to you both.
ReplyDeleteHad to giggle when you said you are camera shy, also, but you had to overcome. With all the lovely pictures George has taken of you over the years my first thought was you would have spent all your time hiding...:)
ReplyDeleteHow nice to be able to visit with your dad and sister. Great to see smiles on both of your faces. Good to see George wearing that hat. Hugs to you both and continued prayers coming your way.
You are looking good George! The more relaxed atmosphere of the hospice is showing. And Suzie, thanks for keeping us up to date, you are doing a great job and it is nice to see your cooking skills are returning after that long hiatus! (Big Grin). I am thinking of you guys every day.
