First day in Quartzsite was wonderful just the way we love it.

Where are we today ?
clic a pic to enlarge it
So quiet and dark here at night what a great place to enjoy some time in the winter in these wide open spaces. And the star gazing here is amazing!
Another great sleep and headed out early for my first walkabout , got 2 miles under my belt and feels good. Did get 3 miles done by the end of the day.
the sun was try hard, but did get here eventually
by the dump station pretty quiet right now
almost sunshine
getting better
now reflecting off the mountains to the west
About 9am I headed into town to check things out. Noticed the Quartzsite General store has new owners and they have really fixed that store up. I wish them luck in their new endeavour.
Cruised around town a bit and stopped at 2 places that repair stone chips in the windshield of our coach. I choose the one on Kuehn Street that seemed very reasonable and friendly. They will come to us but we will probably stop by there when we take our coach to RV Lifestyles for a minor repair, next week.
Back home we enjoyed a light tasty lunch then I took a short drive around the area just because I can and like to explore these areas.
Now with this wonderful warm sunshine we enjoyed reading outside in the shade of our awning. Even though was only 64F this intense sun is very hot. I had on my shorts, sandals and enjoyed it, Suzie was too hot (too many clothes). But that is Suzie.
wonderful desert views and love the blue skies
She found a bit of shade by the car for a while
but kinda cool, she back in the sun to warm up again
It is amazing how the sun can feel so hot and the shade feel so cold but this is the desert in the winter.
After our happy hour, time for me to whip up supper. Made our tasty salad and grilled a couple of salmon fillets on our Weber Q.
not long and they were done to perfection
As supper was cooking I did manage to catch another desert sunset that we always enjoy.
quickly it was done and so was supper ready as well
love our salmon fillets
this sure hit the spot tonight
Our first day here in Quartzsite and we enjoyed it, so quiet and peaceful with the wide open spaces that we love.
Thanks again for dropping by for a visit and hope you enjoyed your winter day much as we did.

  1. Hi George. Are you in LaPosa South or one of the other long term areas? I had heard rumours that they were closed to new visitors. We're planning to come that way next week and have been wondering what the real story is.

  2. Glad you've been enjoying your first day there. Always a nice day when the sun shines. I agree about the intensity of the sun and the coolness of the shade. Such a big difference, it's hard to believe unless you experience it.

    3. Croft this is pretty normal for here at this time of year, day times have been 66F sunny and warm I wearing shorts and sandals most of the afternoon, don't think you doing that there. We will have a couple of cooler days but we can still spend most of our days outside.

  6. What - no Happy Hour gathering tonight? I'm sure you'll have a few soon. Please keep us updated how the government funding effects the Q this year. I've read the local businesses are willing pool resources for the basic needs (water, septic, trash) to keep the Q rally running.

    1. Suzie and I have happy hour every day, with or without company. Soon we will be meeting up with friends here. The ltva is still open and everything seems pretty close to normal just no one at the gate to issue permits.
