Enjoying southern California and this wonderful warm sunny weather.

Where are we today
Clic on a pic for more
What a wonderful mild night we had, temps down to 56 f and windows open perfect ! Now because of the time zone change I woke up at 3:30 instead of 4:30 hmmm hope we can get that fixed soon. I like to be up early but another hour or so would be wonderful . Bonus though is the sunrises here just after 6 am so did get a wonderful sunrise photo.
We have been here in this area a few times in the past and took many pictures of the sculptures in and around the town on Galletto Meadows. You can check out a previous posting here from 5 years ago , not much has changed and still love the area. So peaceful in this area. And for even more pictures of more over 100 sculptures you can click HERE.
this huge serpent borrowed from the internet
better than mine standing in the ground/
At 7 am  I headed into town to check our a few things and stop by the grocery store for some fresh made Chorizo that I really enjoy. Tried it last year and fell in love with it.
wonderful sunrise right out our windshield
gotta love it !
the short drive into Borrego Springs,
love the mountain views
Home to putter around for a bit walkabouts the area and a nice light lunch.
After lunch another drive around the area just enjoying the desert scenery. Love the green vegetation growing after all the extra rain so far this winter.
I also spotted a few sculptures I don't remember seeing before, So stop to take a peek.
harvesting grapes
monster scorpions and crickets
Now home to relax in the shade , got up to 80f today so the awning and sunscreen came into play for a while. Loving this weather! Even with overcast skies our solar gave us a full charge by 1 pm and all our devises are charged as well.
Eventually it cooled down to 72 f and feeling cool about 4 pm, time to start with supper.
cloudy afternpoon
Tonight supper is some pan fried red snapper we picked up in Mexico to add to our side salad, Quick easy and so tasty.
pan fried on our Weber Q
yum
After supper chatted with this young lady (86yrs old and full-time) asking about her solar system.   She does not have enough power to run her electric fridge, only 200 watts of solar. Nice chat then time to head inside to wrap up this posting and call it a night.
Thanks for stopping on by and really hope your day was wonderful as well.

  1. It seems like there is a new sculpture to find every visit. Do you have a drone? Great foto of the Serpent! Enjoy the warmth, and the wildflowers could be awesome after the rains.

  2. Glad you are enjoying the Area. If we don't make it this year we'll definitely do it next winter.
Getting up at 3:30 PST Is like you are getting up at 6:30 EST in Ontario.
    Be Safe and Enjoy!

    It's about time.

    1. So many great areas to explore, If it is like 6:30 in Ontario I guess I slept in then.

  3. Since I'm retired and rarely do things based upon time, I just ignore the clocks and do things (sleep, eat, etc) as I feel like it.

    1. Always an early riser as you know, just adjusting to the time zone. Earlier sunset so BBQ earlier then fall asleep earlier. No problem I get a good night's rest.

  5. Being able to keep the windows open at night perfect. I am not that early of a riser but when we are in the desert I make an exception. I love watching the sunrise as the light dances across the desert floor.

  7. We saw those wine vine and crate sculptures when we were there in April so not sure how long ago they were put up. We really enjoyed looking at all the different ones.

Wow, 86 and still full timing, good for her. She would need a whole lot more solar and batteries in order to run her residential fridge off grid, 200 watts sure isn't going to do it!

  11. I seem to remember that I introduced you to Chorizo from that market in Borrego Springs. Same chorizo? I'm glad you are still enjoying it. I look forward to getting back there to get some more. It remains the best I've found anywhere. Are you at Peg Leg? You're a bit ahead of my journey. I'm in Tucson getting some work done on my motorhome. I'll be in California in early March.
