Friday Farmer's market at Christmas Circle

Where are we today
Borrego Springs Ca.
clic on a pic to enlarge it

Another wonderful desert day here, so peaceful, clear blue skies and amazing nighttime views of the sky, stars etc and next to no light pollution  Gotta really love it. Windows open again last night with fresh air and not cold at all 55f overnight.
I slept in this morning (compared to yesterday ) 4:30, guess I am adjusting to this time zone. After a quick early morning tour about town to explore some more, Back home to pick up Suzie now that she is ready to head out for a bit. About 9:30 into town to check out the farmer's market here every Friday in the winter at Christmas Circle.
Quite a few vendors here from jewelry, produce and baked goods, Lots of stuff for everyone .
lotsa good stuff
here we sampled  many different flavours
 of Hummus.
like the guy said "free breakfast"
we did not buy any though.
people lined up here for fresh hot tamales
we don;t care for them
we did buy some fresh broccoli
and some fresh strawberries
even 1/2 dozen Strawberry oranges
very tasty
Across the circle we noticed more metal sculptures so wander over to check them out, These are for sale if you have enough money and need to buy them, plus transport them they would be just the things. But not us. Kinda cool though.
Roadrunner
Then down the street to the Thrift store (Frugal Coyote). Kelly of the Bayfield Bunch enjoys this place and we did as well. It is huge , very well organized. a great inventory and some good deals to be had. Nothing there for us today though.
That was  about it , did few other things but will save that for another posting. Time to head home for lunch . Usual lunch apple, banana. strawberry, chicken and a 1/2 of s strawberry orange. all very tasty and healthy.
Then a wonderful very warm and sunny afternoon. only got to 78f  today and a bit of a light wind for a while, but did get some walkabouts and good reading time done in the shade.
love the view in front of coach
some clouds this aftermnoon
Then did some pork ribs on our Weber Q for the recipe click HERE or my recipe blog top right sidebar.
grill mat to glaze them
love the ribs, kraut and salad
very meaty ribs, more leftovers
Glad that you stopped by and hope your winter day was a great one as well.

  2. Isn't Borrego Springs a great little town? Are the desert lilies blooming yet - there were a lot of them a couple of weeks ago!

  6. I don't think that I have ever had a strawberry orange. I bet they taste very sweet. What are in those baskets, next to the strawberries? Peas?

    1. The oranges we very tasty, not acidy at all. Yes they are split peas, Suzie did not want any though, thought they were kinda pricey at 3 bucks.

  7. Looks like you two had another wonderful day in the desert. We are hoping everything gets taken care of quickly on the Stinger B at our appointment so we can do some boondocking soon.
Question: Have you ever cooked Spaghetti Squash on your Weber Q? We do not have an oven in the motor home and when we are dry camping we don't have the power to run the Micro/Convection Oven. Tom will be trying it but I thought, if you had, maybe you would have a few hints.
    Stay safe.

    1. Hope all goes well with your Stinger B and you can get boon docking. I would have thought your coach would have a built in generator that would run your a/c and our connection oven.
I have not done it on the Weber Q but have done other squash no problem. I would cut it in half, scoup out the seeds add a bit of butter , salt and pepper. Then wrap each half in foil and grill skin side down for 30-40 minutes until done. Should be perfect, then scoup it out and use as desired.

    2. Thanks for the advice we will be giving it a try.
We do have a built in generator and we thought it would work also. When we tried it during the walk through it didn't. One of the questions Tom is going to be asking about the generator use.

  8. Borrego is our SoCal spot when we want a weekend out of town. There should still be lots of good fresh citrus to found and not just a the Farmer's Market.
