Where are we today
Clic on a pic for more
What a wonderful mild night we had, temps down to 56 f and windows open perfect ! Now because of the time zone change I woke up at 3:30 instead of 4:30 hmmm hope we can get that fixed soon. I like to be up early but another hour or so would be wonderful . Bonus though is the sunrises here just after 6 am so did get a wonderful sunrise photo. We have been here in this area a few times in the past and took many pictures of the sculptures in and around the town on Galletto Meadows. You can check out a previous posting here from 5 years ago , not much has changed and still love the area. So peaceful in this area. And for even more pictures of more over 100 sculptures you can click HERE.

At 7 am I headed into town to check our a few things and stop by the grocery store for some fresh made Chorizo that I really enjoy. Tried it last year and fell in love with it.

the short drive into Borrego Springs, love the mountain views |
After lunch another drive around the area just enjoying the desert scenery. Love the green vegetation growing after all the extra rain so far this winter.
I also spotted a few sculptures I don't remember seeing before, So stop to take a peek.

Where have we been this Winter
It seems like there is a new sculpture to find every visit. Do you have a drone? Great foto of the Serpent! Enjoy the warmth, and the wildflowers could be awesome after the rains.
ReplyDeleteHope to see the wildflowers in the desert before we begin our journey home. No Jeff I forgot to mention that I borrowed it from the internet it shows the whole serpent.
DeleteGlad you are enjoying the Area. If we don't make it this year we'll definitely do it next winter.
ReplyDeleteGetting up at 3:30 PST Is like you are getting up at 6:30 EST in Ontario.
Be Safe and Enjoy!
It's about time.
So many great areas to explore, If it is like 6:30 in Ontario I guess I slept in then.
DeleteSince I'm retired and rarely do things based upon time, I just ignore the clocks and do things (sleep, eat, etc) as I feel like it.
ReplyDeleteI like to do that as well, and just go with the flow, have always been and early riser, Go to bed when I fall asleep and wake up whenever.
DeleteNow you are Mr. EARLIER bird. Love the pictures from Borrego Springs.
ReplyDeleteAlways an early riser as you know, just adjusting to the time zone. Earlier sunset so BBQ earlier then fall asleep earlier. No problem I get a good night's rest.
DeleteBeing able to keep the windows open at night perfect. I am not that early of a riser but when we are in the desert I make an exception. I love watching the sunrise as the light dances across the desert floor.
ReplyDeleteI too love the sunrises in the desert, don't want to miss them.
DeleteLove the sculptures George, there sure are some very talented people out there.
ReplyDeleteThey are wonderful to see and search the desert for. Pretty well all done by artist Ricardo Breceda.
DeleteWe saw those wine vine and crate sculptures when we were there in April so not sure how long ago they were put up. We really enjoyed looking at all the different ones.
ReplyDeleteWow, 86 and still full timing, good for her. She would need a whole lot more solar and batteries in order to run her residential fridge off grid, 200 watts sure isn't going to do it!

They are wonderful to see them scattered around the desert floor.
DeleteShe has a pop up van camper with a small electric fridge and that is how the dealer set up. sure not enough batteries or solar.
Looks like you two had a nice leisurely day in the warm sunshine. Can't beat it.
ReplyDeleteThats for sure Doug , one these kind of days.
DeleteLove the sculptures..thanks for sharing them.
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed them they are amazing.
DeleteThe sculptures are pretty amazing.
ReplyDeleteWe love Chorizo! I am taking some back to Ohio this year. Need to share it with the family back home.
They are really amazing and searching for them is fun too.
DeleteI love it too, will stock up to take some home as well, Oh so tasty.
I seem to remember that I introduced you to Chorizo from that market in Borrego Springs. Same chorizo? I'm glad you are still enjoying it. I look forward to getting back there to get some more. It remains the best I've found anywhere. Are you at Peg Leg? You're a bit ahead of my journey. I'm in Tucson getting some work done on my motorhome. I'll be in California in early March.
ReplyDeleteTastes like the same chorizo and loving it, We at Peg Leg right now leaving around the 12th or so head to Pilot Knob Resort then making our way back home slowly. Early March we be near Tucson.. Looks like we may miss you this year. Good luck with the work on your motorhome.
DeleteHave a great trip and hope you are enjoying this lifestyle.
