The Peterborough Farmer's Market

Where are we today ?
How can you beat this weather? Sunshine, warm, no rain. Gotta love it. The usual morning coffee's, computing, walkabouts and waiting for Suzie to get mobile. By 9:30 we heading out, stop at a few yard sales on the way to Peterborough, managed to pick a couple books for .50 cents each to add to our library.
This be our huge site here, love it !
About a 20 minute drive into Peterborough and the Farmer's Market. We do enjoy coming here lotsa great things to see and even some fresh produce too.
we did buy a bunch of sweet asparagus
this guys cooking stuff, sure smelled good
lots of fresh local strawberries, sooo,, sweet
Even quite a few buskers here , with good music adding to the ambiance. Perfect weather and a fun experience.
lots of people but never too crowded here
even fresh flowers too
Now we had to stop by Betty's and pick up a few Butter tarts. They were voted the best here in Ontario. An yep they were very good. Butter tarts and a Canadian thing , something like pecan tarts we can buy on the USA , but no pecans, homemade pastry, a hint of maple syrup, some with raisins and so gooey good. Almost as good as my mother makes.
After the market a couple stops on the way home in time for us to have a tasty chicken sandwich for lunch. Now we can enjoy our books in the shade for a whiole with more perfect weather.
Than around 4 o'clock visit with Pat, Norm, Jim and Sharon for a casual Happy hour. More doggy fix for Suzie.
Then fire up our Weber Q to grill a nice whole chicken, some sweet potatoes slices and amazing sweet fresh asparagus for supper.
about 70 minutes and the chicken is done
yep did the trick again, lotsa leftovers too
That was our fun day, hope yours was too. Thanks for stopping by again today.

  2. Now, that's a Farmer's Market! sure do miss the ones in Little Rock. There is one beginning in Dothan that is supposed to be really good… hopefully, I can go before too long…

Everything is a bit of a drive… excellent day and supper! as always ;)

  3. I love farmers markets. If you ever get back to the Oregon Coast, go to the Astoria Farmer's Market. It's a 2 day thing. My name is Betty, but I don't make pies or tarts, but I'd sure have a taste of those pastries.

  9. When traveling, we always hit the FM's if any are available and partake of the fresh bounty. I can just imagine how tasty that asparagus was.

  11. "Almost as good as my Mother makes". Well said. Best to not ruffle any feathers.
Have to get ourselves some of those strawberries, probably this week. Don't want to miss that.
