Where are we today ?
clic a pic to enlarge it
we have a 2 hour time difference from Ontario
and we are adjusting nicely
Well our last Walmart sleep for a while and a good one at that, Up early and got the coffees consumed, and a nice walkabout the parking lot and store for a while then at 7:30 coach secured and on the road west on I-10.
A nice quiet uneventful drive looks like it might be a nice day. For the first hour then we had some rain for a while.
a very good driving day mostly |
Keep passing these very long trains this one had 5 engines and was heading east slowly, we heading west at 66 mph and was 1.5 miles before we reached the end! These are amazing trains.
amazing trains here though the desert |
the divide water runs east for this side and west from the other or so they say. |
interesting clouds hiding the mountains |
Pretty soon we are now in Arizona, stopped at the first rest area a new one they built over the last few years very nice! And the rain stopped and the sun came out but only for a few minutes to welcome us to Arizona.
a nice new rest area |
this was the sun peeking through |

more interesting clouds |

Then the Texas Canyon Rest area, always love this spot amazing rocks just hanging onto nothing |
making our way another 20 miles to Benson |
Destination today first was Benson Arizona to top up our propane and get a Lube, oil and filter for our coach at the
Super Lube plus here, a convenient place to get it serviced, no appointments needed, they have a bay that will take a 12 ft high RV, we are 11ft 9 inches. I pulled up to the bay and Tom as well as the rest of the staff greeted me like old friends. Usually stop here on our way west and back home again pretty well every year since 2006. We do love Benson and have spent many weeks here in the past with our membership campgrounds that are no longer. In and out of there in less than 30 minutes, free French Vanilla Cappucinno that Suzie loves and a free car wash coupon for the car.
a wonderful place for friendly service |
While we were here in Benson found out our good friends from Rock Glen Resort in Ontario, Ron, Loree and Freddie. Were here so stopped by for a nice catchup visit. Freddie was so excited to see Suzie he was all over her and she got her doggie fix, its been a while.
10 minutes away we found their campsite and they were home |
If you know Freddie he can be extremely friendly and excitable |
Loree was doing laundry next door so we walked over to chat with them for a while, so nice to see their friendly faces again and catch up.

Ron and Loree |

this be the place |
Shortly after noon we made the 20 mile drive to our campground, checked in and partly set up in the rain. Hey we have full hookups and our dish set up again after the rain stopped for more channels about 3 pm. Set up our weber q and was going to grill our chicken but still a bit of a cold wind and only 44f. Think we will do the chicken another day probably Sunday.
a nice large full through site |
So we decided at the last minute we could grill a couple of turkey and parsley burgers we brought form home. The thing about frozen burgers no need to thaw, cook from frozen. While I was grilling the burgers did manage to get an interesting sunset with cloudy skies. I am sure we will see many more amazing sunsets here in the southwest, over the next few months.
interesting sunset |
not long on the Weber, english muffins heating in foil |
these hit the spot and some seafood salad on the side |
