Where are we today ?

Up and at it early again, cool outside at 47 F and again gonna be another windy cool day. But the skies are blue and the sun is shining we can always handle that, Hey no snow! The main reason we are here. Got a couple of early walkabouts certainly is refreshing in the cool wind.

lots of rigs are pulling in now after Christmas as usual |
About 9:30 this morning Suzie and I headed out to the
Arizona Market Place for the first time this year. Checking it out there it was not busy and not nearly as many vendors as their used to be but we found the ones we wanted. The vendor with amazing date nut loves was there and we had to get one , just because they are sooo tasty. Veggie vendors there and got some wonderful Mineola Tangerines that we also love. Found the chair vendor and he has the chairs we want , but not yet, my comfy chair is still holding in there. Then the water filter guy we talked to last year has a filter cartridge that softens the hard water, and it fits in out filter canister, we will give it a try . Looking forward to some softer water.
|
this be the place , not as busy as it used t be years ago |
|
a couple of fresh veggies stands here |
|
love these Mineolas, oh so tasty |
|
prices not too bad |
Then Wallys World always something to find here and we did.
We just kept on strolling along enjoying the fact that not many people here and were actually out of the wind. Cool in the shade but usually always is at this time of year.
In the centre food court Duke Michaels was setting up to entertain, but we were pretty well done here today , saw what we wanted and got what we needed too.
|
early in the season and a cooler day, still early in the day and pretty quiet |
|
love these Mineolas |
This vendor still here makes custom dash covers we bought one in 2006 for our car and love it.
|
custom seat covers too |
Then home for a light tasty lunch, Next I flushed our hot water tank, (it's been a while) and installed the new softener filter, think we will be good to go.
Now the wind has died down quite a bit so we can enjoy our page turners outside in the warming sun. Yahoo !
While outside we noticed all these butterflies everywhere, on the ground in the trees not large only and inch or so across . I am wondering if these might be part of the Monarch Butterfly winter migration, close to the Mexican Border. any body have input here?
|
these guys are every where |
Then I took s short drive over to the Pilot Knob next to here to see if anything new there.
|
a nice dirt road back here to the trails |
|
you can see a hiking trail that will take you to the top, no I cannot do that by myself says Suzie |
I had counted the shrimp we bought yesterday in Mexico from Rocky point. 40 large shrimp in 2 lbs just the size we like, I cleaned a 1/2 lb for supper and froze the rest in 3 bags for future meals.
Tonight the plan is to make one of Suzie's favourite shrimp dishes, Garlic shrimp pasta, you can click
HERE for the recipe or my recipe blog top right sidebar.
|
just a perfect size we like |
|
saute everything together then add the pasta and garlic |
|
yummy?yup it sure was |
And as we enjoyed our supper we also enjoyed a wonderful sunset right out our dinning room window . Really hard to beat a view like this!
|
that's about it for our sunset today no complaints |
Now supper done , dishes done, and we can head to the clubhouse to watch the Karaoke for a couple of hours. Always a good time watching the people singing and having fun, especially Joe, he does an amazing job. He sang a few songs and a duet of a Patsy Cline. Then Suzie's request Sold (the Grundy County Auction) A real upbeat song that she just loves and Joe sure did it justice.
|
Joe doing his stuff a really good singer |
|
he is singing Sold here, |
Now home shortly after 8 pm time to wrap up this posting and call it a night after a very good sunny winter day.
Thanks for stopping in by.
Want to learn more about Membership camping
at Rock Glen Family Resort ?
Where have we been this Winter?
Your having better weather there than here. Wish my camper was set up I would head that way.
ReplyDeleteHas been windy, but died down this afternoon and bright sunny skies. You should be heading this way. Get out and about.
DeleteSounds like a fun day ... and I love the Grundy County Action :-)
ReplyDeleteIt was a fun relaxing day, that is a great sing and Joe does a great job of it.
DeleteThose are not monarch butterflies. And the eastern monarchs that go to Mexico are already there. The western monarchs winter in California.
ReplyDeleteWith all that walking you do, I would have thought you would be in good enough shape to do that trail.
Thanks for the Info Kevin, kinda cool to see them all over our site and the tree next door.
DeleteI probably could do the trail but Suzie does not want me to do it alone, most off my walking is on flat ground , the climbing is different as you know.
We had some of shrimp too. It was so good. Your dinner looked very tasty.
ReplyDeleteThese shrimp are very tasty glad you enjoyed them.
DeleteLooks like a great price on the veggies
ReplyDeleteThe prices here are pretty good and fresh veggies to boot.
DeleteOkay, I need that water filter. I'm having trouble with hard water clogging up my faucet aerators till no water comes out at all!! I've never tried the Algodones shrimp before. Maybe it's time!!
ReplyDeleteWe will try it out and so far seems to work, but only good for a about 100 gallons then I need to recharge it. We had the filter canister and was only twenty bucks. the shrimp are very tasty and a reasonable price as well.
DeleteIt was a nice day to do whatever we wanted. They are nice once in a while. The wind kept the warm sun at bay but no complaints. Glad you enjoyed the market and got your stuff.
ReplyDeleteIt was a pretty nice day overall, and nice to visit the market while we were so close.
DeleteKevin is correct that is a Queen Butterfly, not a Monarch - but they are cousins. Sorry to hear the AZ Marketplace has seen better days, still looks like it's worth a morning to wander thru. Your shrimp looks great and easy to make.
ReplyDeleteThanks for that additional information Jeff. We still enjoyed the market even though smaller. The shrimp pasta is tasty and yes easy to make.
DeleteLoved the AZ Marketplace last year! Karaoke would be fun to watch even for a little bit. Dinner looks great. Love the fresh veggies for sure!
ReplyDeleteWe always enjoy going there to the market, Elva explained why it is smaller on my facebook posting and is really too bad. Dinner wonderful and the fresh veggies nice too.
DeleteWe found the Arizona Marketplace wasn't as big as last year.
ReplyDeleteRiley also loves garlic shrimp pasta. We make ours a bit differently as I'm allergic to shrimp.
Some of the folks that do karoke are great, aren't they? Glad you enjoyed your evening.
It is quite a bit smaller because of an issue between the tenant and the property owner. The pasta is very tasty too bad you are allergic to the shrimp. Most of them are very good especially Joe, the campground manager.
DeleteWe bought our dash cover for the car at the market . Did a gal name Barb also sing at the karaoke?
ReplyDeleteWe bought our at Messa back in 2006. Yes Barb did sing and she was very good they are camped behind us. I took her picture sining but it did not turn out.
DeleteWhen we played Bocce Ball the other day Gordon was in charge, gave him our names and he said right away Betty Graffis, hey it is a small world ya know.
Another full day for you, don't know where you get all that energy. I can't believe that mangoes and tomatoes are the same price.
ReplyDeleteFYI I have started to clean my shrimp before freezing them. Easier to clean them fresh.
Some of these prices here are very good, Don't eat mangoes so did not notice.
ReplyDeleteI was going to clean all 40 shrimp but did not feel like it so only did 10 tonight, the rest I will clean when I take them out.
I know those butterflies as Painted Ladies, but I've never seen so many in one place.
ReplyDeleteThanks Stew they are amazing here all over the place, nice to see them here. We have never seem them before either.
