Where are we today ?

Having great night's sleep here at the Flying J in Spiceland Indianna Lotsa room at the front away from the truckers in the back and it was very quiet other than the heavy rain. When all of a sudden we heard a very large bang and and our coach rocked back and forth! WTH! We both woke up and hopped out of the bed opened the blind on Suzie's side to notice a motorhome pulling a large trailer pulling away quickly heading to the interstate. Hm off course it was dark and raining no way to get a license number.
Grabbed our hats and shoes and went outside to survey the damage.
Not too bad, but bad enough it hit our left rear compartment took off some trim, a small hole in the tail light lense, of course paint damage and body work will be needed. The good thing was the compartment still opens and our slide was not open.
|
lots of room here |
|
at least we can still access that compartment |
|
the lock and latch still work |
|
not real bad but bad enough |
|
2 black smudges just before the slide out, glad we had it closed |
|
tiny hole in tailight lens |
Ok we awake now may as well have breakfast and think about this. Went inside to tell them and ask for the phone number for the police. We waited a bit while Suzie called our insurance broker to report it. And called the Sheriff's department and they promptly sent a nice officer to write up a report for our insurance company. Not much left to do other than wait for the rain to let up and some day break. And hear back from the insurance company.
Well after 9am it was not letting up so we hopped on the road heading east on I-70, and north on I-75 to Wapakoneta Ohio only 118 miles. Destination, Arrowhead Lakes resort a CTC membership park only $10.00 a night with fullhookups, free wifi (not great, but sometimes not bad) and a very nice indoor pool. It was a very nice drive (lol) if it was not for the major downpour that is only supposed to end at Midnight tonight now at least we are in a campground with services, the weather not expected to get any better, snow tomorrow? Checked in and got a pull through site across for Bill and Patsy , They were just heading out will see them later probably.

Soon time to head home and whip up supper for tonight gonna shake and bake a couple of boneless, skinless chicken breasts in the oven, no point setting up our Weber Q today, possible more rain and maybe even snow, no problem we quite comfy here.
|
anther treat and was tasty |
Supper sure hit the spot and the rain is holding off for a while yet. No problem once again we settled in for a few days with FHU.s. Like it here before we head back home into colder Ontario.
Thanks for dropping on by for a peek!

Want to learn more about Membership camping
at Rock Glen Family Resort ?
Where have we been this winter ?
What in the world is wrong with some people . I guess he needed the whole state of Texas to turn / park in.I hope he gets it twice as bad back sometime. Safe travels Vern in Boise
ReplyDeleteThink you are right Vern no reason to run into us with a pretty empty lot..
DeleteOh George we are sorry to learn of that hit and run driver. I would have cursed so loud that everyone on the parking lot would have heard me. Sad if he gets away with it. Hope your stay will be a good one. You are in nice company. Take care, all the best.
ReplyDeleteLooks like he got away with it so far but I am sure his turn will come.
DeleteYes we do have nice neighbours with a friendly dog too.
George, what a bummer that someone side swiped you and worst yet, that they just drove off without giving you their insurance...wow! I will say from reading your blog, you took it well and it will get fixed. Safe travels...
ReplyDeleteIt was a bummer, some [people are just cowards. No much we can do about it oath than report it and the insurance will take care if it for us.
DeleteSo sorry that you got scraped by that bum. I'm not sure I would have handled it so gracefully. Best wishes!
ReplyDeleteThanks Mike I agree he was a bum, the damage was done, so now we need to get it fixed, at least no one injured and we can still use our coach.
DeleteSorry that happened some people have no scruples at all and I wonder if traveling the way he was is legal and that's why he didn't hang around.
ReplyDeleteYou just never know with some people their reasons for doing anything.
DeleteWow...so sorry y’allhad to Have that terrible experience. That is just awful that those people ran after they hit you. So glad no one was hurt.
ReplyDeleteIt was not fun , but no one was hurt and our coach can be fixed.
DeleteThat is too bad George, I hope your insurance fully covers hit and run.
ReplyDeleteIt was a rotten thing to do but we will get it fixed.Mostly covered by insurance if not all.
DeleteSo sorry to read of the jerk that did that to you! Some people nowadays. Glad you have insurance, but sure not fair that you/insurance have to pay! Glad you got there safely and were able to enjoy the rest of your day and have happy hour with Bill and Patsy.
ReplyDeleteIt takes all kinds of people to make the world go round. But thats what we have insurance for. Nice to see Bill Patsy and Clemson again, there is only so many membership parks on the way home so chances if seeing each other are pretty good.
DeleteThat is a very wide open Flying J.
ReplyDeleteDo they have cameras scanning the parking area? I would think they do.
Davy
It is a very open area where we were parked
DeleteYes they have cameras but nothing pointing in the area where we were, the police were not interested in them though.
What a shame that happened and so close to home. Like us last year with our bumper damage in Ok on our way home.
ReplyDeleteSo nice to see you guys again once more. it has been a great winter!
At least it was not too serious. always nice to see you guys again.
DeleteIt has been an awesome winter.
SOOOO irritating!!! I'm betting he didn't even know what he did! People should have to take driving tests if they pull trailers. I would be sick ... it's bad enough if "I" do it, but to have someone else damage your rig and just drive off ....... I've no words. So sorry!!
ReplyDeleteYes Nancy very irritating , just glad our coach is not brand new, now that would be really upsetting.
DeleteEither did not know or did not care.
What an awful event and a rude awakening. Too bad you could not see the driver’s license plate. Glad you were not physically injured.
ReplyDeleteA very rude awaking , to dark and raining to see the license plate, but we were not injured and thats a good thing.
DeleteSome people just don't have a clue. He is probably so swift when he gets to his destination, he will think he was a victim of a hit and run.
ReplyDeleteThats true hopefully he got some decent damage to his trailer as well.
DeleteSo sorry about the damage, glad it wasn't worse than it was but it is still a pain. I bet if it was a long trailer he probably didn't even know he hit you.
ReplyDeleteThe weather looks miserable. Hope the sun comes out soon for you.
www.travelwithkevinandruth.com
He it was a good driver he should have noticed , or did not care.
DeleteMiserable weather yup it is, it will be a while before we see the sun again.
That was a rude awakening!
ReplyDeleteWelcome back to Wapa! It'll be a lot easier to sleep thru the night there. Hope the rain/snow stay clear of you.
It sure was Jeff, we do enjoy this area but would be better with nicer weather.
DeleteWe got the rain and a bit of snow, but summer will be here soon we hope.
Bummer on the damage - If he hit you with the trailer he may not of even realized - it would be nice if he hurt himself more than you.
ReplyDeleteDon't know how much damage he got only saw the tail lights in the distance.
DeleteSorry to hear about the "nasty bump in the night" but glad you were not hurt. Hope the weather turns nicer for you - we are home and sadly, it is still winter. Safe travels!
ReplyDeleteThanks guys, at least we were not hurt and the coach is still usable.
DeleteThat is a bummer! Hope the repairs don't take too long to be completed. :c(
ReplyDeleteBummer it sure was, and repairs hmm, wish this was Mexico it would be done in no time.
DeleteHard to believe people would do something like that, unless he did not even notice that he hit you... glad all is OK
ReplyDeleteWe are just fine, I have pulled trailers for years and would know if it hit something . No excuse in my mind.
DeleteLast year we got hit with a 5th wheel coming into a park. Some people shouldn't be allow to pull trailers.
ReplyDeleteI agrree with you there is people out there that should not be doing this.
DeleteGlad you weren't injured but it is still a pain to deal with the Insurance Companies.
ReplyDeleteThat person knew his trailer made contact that is why he headed for the Interstate.
Be Safe and Enjoy!
It's about time.
No inheres and that was good, The insurance company no problem these guys are awesome. I am sure he knew he hit us and made a run for it!
DeleteI don't think I've ever heard of a 'hit and run' RV driver before. And here I thought all we RV folks were fine upstanding honest folks. If that water keeps rising you may have to either move or put your water wings on.
ReplyDeleteWe have actually seen a few rv'ers do stuff like this Al. And this guy got away scot free, maybe some damage to their trailer. But caul not see it. Most rv'ers are amazing people but only takes one.
DeleteWater level went down today so we put our water wings away.
Sorry about the "mishap" That was terrible and then to drive off!? We know you are on your wasy home but the Bicycle Museum of America in New Bremen, OH id not for from you! we loved it! safe travels here on in to homw!
ReplyDeleteThanks bones it was not a fun experience but we were safe that'll the counts. The bicycle museum is amazing and sure worth the stop, we loved it and hope to go back again at sometime. Glad you enjoyed it!
DeleteSorry to hear this. Glad it wasn't worse.
ReplyDeleteYes it sure could have been worse
DeleteThat's a shame - what a nice vehicle - hope you get it back up to snuff without too many headaches.
ReplyDeleteUsing my 20/20 hingsight, I'm thinking of a security camera myself - would help in times like this.
We will get it all fixed up no problem. There is security cameras but we were a long way away and in the dark and pouring rain, don't think it would have helped.
