Where are we today ?

Another cool day in the works, but pretty sunny all morning works for us, did get to 45F (7C) Better than below freezing.
After coffee and computing I headed out on the nice country back roads past the Maple Syrup operation in the sugar bush just down the road, in my way into Plattsville to check out the new location for the Home Hardware. Wow, its it ever nice. I had our oil and vinegar sprayer that we bought there 3 years ago and was causing issues last winter, So put it away until we came back. Took it in and they ordered a new one will be in on Friday, No charge, it has a lifetime warranty, gotta love it ! While there filled our 5 gallon jug with reverse osmosis water, 3 bucks (we paid mostly $1.00 for the same in the southwest.)

This be the new location for this home hardware store in town, it is huge and so well stocked.
From there to New Hamburg for a few supplies and back home to whip up lunch for us. Suzie has a dentist appointment in town for 12:15 so she headed back for that, get a new Library card and and some of her vitamins.
About 2:30 this afternoon I put a mess of baby back ribs in the oven with sauerkraut for tonight's supper, Dennis and Sandy's anniversary. Suzie's Dad, sister Rose and BIL Ross are coming for dinner as well. So we get together with more family. I am making a salad and some cheese and crackers , Sandy gonna do some baked potatoes and veggies. For my rib recipe you can click
HERE, Similar done in the oven but the end result is pretty much the same tender fall off the bone ribs with a sticky tasty BBQ sauce.

So we had a fun family get together and a nice tasty meal to celebrate Dennis and Sandy's anniversary.
Thank y'all for following along and hope you had a great day as well.

Where have we been this summer?
Do you have any trouble switching between dinner for two and dinner for the clan? Seems like it would require a different mindset and time frame. Gotta laugh at what you pay for RO water. In San Felipe I take in the 5 gal empty bottles - They take them out of the truck, wash them, fill them, add new caps then replace them in the truck ... $0.50 USD per bottle! I bring one home now and then.
ReplyDeleteNo problem Jeff I have done meals for 200 just takes longer and more planning, A meal 10 to 30 people is pretty easy as long as I know in advance. It is fun that I enjoy.
DeleteThe RO water here in Canada is expensive as is so many other things, like food, fuel and alcohol way too expensive ! We live like Kings in the states and Mexico.
Automated dairy..I hope they don't have robot heifers....You drive me nutz when you post some tasty food, as in the photo of the ribs...
ReplyDeleteIf I wasn't on the other side of the country I'd ask if Suzie's sis is single...:+)...
Today was 73* sunny and raining over on this coast...Snow forecast 200' above my mountain home..
Who is messing with our weather??
Upriver
No they are not robotic heifers, the system allows the cows are to be milked 3 times a day with very little manpower.
DeleteSorry David but the ribs were tasty and that was a large art of my day, Suzie's sis is happily married you loose.
Now the 73* sounds wonderful, it will be a while before we see that here.
Another great looking meal
ReplyDeleteThanks Jo it was tasty.
DeleteYou had a nice quiet day with family ending also with a nice meal.
ReplyDeleteThe quiet country roads are nice.
Hunker down for the weather. I think your thermometer is in the sun or wonky. No way is it getting to 7C anywhere in Ontario! :)
It was a wonderful day , and cruising the back roads I always enjoy Our Thermometer was in the afternoon shade and thats what it said, The forecast today 5C and 15C Thursday in New Hamburg, gonna have some rain though.
Deletemaybe we can get our shorts out again tomorrow! 😁
DeleteGreat time with family and the dinner looked amazing. Looks like Suzie is have such a great time with all those smiles.
ReplyDeleteOh we'll take those 15C days for sure. Can you spare a few for us?
Enjoy!!!
It was a great time and tasty meal.Suzie is enjoying herself with the family.
DeleteWe only having one 15C day then cold again, not much sun for a while either, possibly snow on the weekend, yuk.
Happy Anniversary Dennis and Sandy! Great looking dinner George, sure it was really enjoyed. Glad Suzie gets to enjoy her family for a bit! Love the backroads!
ReplyDeleteThanks guys, Dinner was enjoyed and yes love the back roads here in farm country.
DeleteThat is a nice property you are staying at. It looks so tranquil in a park like setting. Family time and good food, you guys must be really happy there. Enjoy.
ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful property they have very tranquil yes.
DeleteWe are enjoying it here.
I'm curious ... it looks like the roads are gravel. Is that just a dirt road or is it covered because of snow? I've never traveled in your area ... only on the West side of Canada. Beautiful location you're staying at.
ReplyDeleteIt is a gravel road , well packed after the winter, when it warms up a bit they will grade them again.
DeleteThis a lovely area of southern Ontario around the small towns and villages. Mostly farm country.
Every time I read your blog postings, I have to go and get something to eat. Yep, you make me hungry. . .
ReplyDeleteLOL , Dizzy, maybe you should eat before you read my postings, like eating before you go grocery shopping.
DeleteAlways enjoy the pictures of the back roads; reminds me of Sunday drives with my Mom and Dad when I was little. Nice spot to spend some time catching up with family.
ReplyDeleteCruising the back roads is always a nice leisurely drive I enjoy.
DeleteIt is nice to spend time in the area and catch up with families
Beautiful countryside. Good old Home Hardware. I'll have to look for one of those sprayers. The ones I keep buying break after a couple of months.
ReplyDeleteThose ribs look wonderful. I'll be trying that recipe.
I will show a picture of my new sprayer when it comes in. This one lasted about 3 years, and guaranteed for life, gotta love it. The ribs are wonderful done like this, we love them.
DeleteWhat a nice family gathering to celebrate an anniversary!! The food looked delicious!!
ReplyDeleteYes it was very nice and very tasty as well.
DeleteNice to see you back with family again. I must admit I miss seeing the Weber in action!!!! Enjoy your home time.
ReplyDeleteWe are enjoying our time here and really do miss our Weber Q, Hope to get it back out again soon.
DeleteWe had to put in a whole house RO unit for the new house. Well water was salty hard and full of iron. It should pay for itself in 20 years or so. Nice to see that sweet gentle Canadian Ontario life.
ReplyDeleteTh ro system is very nice but pricey as you know. It is nice to come back to the space and quiet of the county life again.
