The rain has finally stopped and the weather cooled down. But a windy overcast day, 36F at 5 am and stayed about the same all day long, But no problem we are still toasty warm inside. A short very cold walkabout this morning, first day for my winter jacket. Now because of this cooler weather another pot of soup sounds like a good idea. So I boiled up the bones from our turkey breast we cooked the other day to make a tasty broth for some Turkey Barley soup. Let that simmer for a couple of hours then a quick check out a couple stores in town and the new very nice laudramat. It is much better than the aging one that they closed down last spring. All brand new machines front loaders (much more money of course ) and a new system where you get a card and load money on it too use for washing and drying. Saw Patsy and Bill there doing their stuff and chatted with them for a bit, then back home to finish up the soup, enjoyed soup for lunch (more leftovers) and put a pork loin roast in our antique slow cooker. Did not feel like setting up our Weber Q with this cold and wind. And some snow fluffies off and on most of the day, even a few minutes of sunshine, did not warm things up though.

At 3 pm Bill and Patsy joined us for Happy Hour, our last one for a while, they are heading on out in the morning. Always new topics to chat about and share stories.
They headed on home and was time for supper . Our pork loin roast done to perfection, so whipped up a salad and enjoyed this tasty fall apart roast with sone apple sauce and carrots that cooked carrots right in there .
After supper a walk by the creek, get rid of the garbage and back home to call it a night, Gonna get cold again so disconnect our water hose, just because. so it does not freeze.
We actually had a very nice day here, good food, great company and a fun Happy hour with our friends.
Now to kick back and enjoy a nice quiet evening warm and cozy by our blue flame heater. Watching a movie on the tube.
Thanks for taking the time to stop on by, hope your day was warmer than ours was.

Where have we been this winter ?
Glad you got another visit with Bill and Patsy. Looks cold there, hope it warms up soon. Soup looked wonderful. I tried to get barley here in Hornsby/Bolivar and they have no idea what barley is. How funny is that?
ReplyDeleteStay warm!!
Always nice to see them again. It is cold but we keeping nice and warm inside. That must be a real small town, but no barley?
DeleteYou did the right thing on a cold and windy day. Hot soup and pot roast. Getting lost in a good book and spending time with friends. Even sitting by the fire, i.e. blue flame heater and watching TV is nice. Hope the weather will warm up soon.
ReplyDeleteThe soup and the roast we perfect on a day like this, It was a nice day sitting by the fire, love our Blue Flame.
DeleteIt's not hockey, but the Wapa Redskins are home this weekend. A nephew is a coach, his daughter a cheer leader ... give'm a shout out if you make it. The barley soup looks good, hope the weather clears a bit for you. Is there any issue with water getting in where the damage was done?
ReplyDeleteThanks Jeff maybe if we had more time. But just relaxing a bit for a few day and get some thins done.
DeleteThe soup was very tasty thanks, and not supposed to warm up for a while yet, but even sunshine would be nice.
A bit of a water leak around the tail light I think, I will fix that when it warms a bit,I fixed it once before, other than that no leaks.
That's a great looking soup. Too bad you can't share the taste on a blog! :-)
ReplyDeleteLove the ducks swimming in the campground. It looks like a fun place if the weather was nicer.
Thanks Dave it was tasty.
DeleteWe have been here in the nicer weather and was wonderful.
Thanks for happy hour and it was great seeing you guys once more before we hit home turf.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your next few days, sunshine today. Enjoy the hot tub and pool, hopefully not so busy.
Your welcome, always great to get together with you guys, Travel safe and enjoy another leg of your journey. We will watch the crowds by the pool and hopefully get over there.
DeleteWhat a great day you had even though it was so cold. Your soup looks just perfect for those cold days! Happy Hour is always nice with friends! Enjoy the rest of your time!
ReplyDeleteIt was a great day and the soup really hit the spot. It is always a fun happy hour with friends, just a few more days here then back home again.
DeleteToo bad you couldn't stay longer in the SW, you're getting home just in time to "enjoy" the cold weather. :c(
ReplyDeleteIt sure would be nice, we could leave later in the fall but it is cold here then anyway, sometimes the weather is decent at this time of year if we get lucky.
DeleteOh my goodness .... I got the chills just looking at your pictures. It definitely looks too cold for me!!!
ReplyDeleteWe getting the chills for you, too cold for us as well but we had an awesome winter and missed most of it here. Summer will soon be here.
DeleteThis stubborn winter is getting to be a serious pain in the butt! A few more weeks of this I'm told. Great choices food wise...
ReplyDeleteYes Peter is a big pain. We will be patient and wait, not holding our breath.
DeleteThe meals were perfect for this weather.
Well, I will see if it will let me comment this time. I tried a few days ago and could not get it to work. I know you are headed home or you would not be in this cold weather. Hopefully things will warm up fast shortly. I have been following your blog for quite some time now. Not 11 years, but probably 6. I have enjoyed it so much. Hope you have safe travels the rest of the way home and take care.
ReplyDeleteThank you Anonymous (whoever you are?) Nice that you were able to comment. Yes we heading home and thanks for following along. Glad you enjoy our travels.
