We actually watched a baseball game on TV !!

Where are we today ?
Just more wonderful weather mostly sunny and temps about 30c (86F) my kind of weather. Walkabouts this morning and chat with a few guys at the garage and back home to whip up a Turkey Meat loaf for lunch. Suzie had invited her Mom and Dad over after church this morning.
Easy standard type meatloaf recipe but used 2 lbs of lean ground turkey breast. Chopped onions, fresh garlic, some bread crumbs, one egg, oilive oil, worchester sauce. Form into a huge loaf and refrigerate for an hour our so.
Then I preheat our Weber Q added a foil package off Apple wood chips I had soaked for a while. Set the meat loaf on my trivet with foil on the grill for an hour or so until internal temp reached 165f. Last 15 minutes I slathered on some BBQ sauce to finish off.
the beginning
all done
I whipped up some creamy mashed taters and added some peas we had a very tasty lunch.
Now we had some ripe local peaches that needed to be eaten so Suzie chopped them up and really hit the spot with whipped cream.
pretty tasty
After lunch we enjoyed the shade and her Dad helped me repair our old lawn chair that finally broke yesterday. We have two of these and are our most comfortable chairs for reading. Have had them, over 20 years. He brought me an old wooden handle he had at home. I whittled it down to fit inside the aluminum tube that had spilt, Put it back together and secured it with a couple of screws I had.
We have purchased other chairs to replace these but just don't do the trick and this style is no longer available, so I will keep them going as long as possible.
Still in good shape but the aluminum frames
are wearing out. But I can still fix em.
Later in the afternoon we stopped by to visit our host who was watching a baseball game  on the huge screen tv in the garage. Now we are not sports fans at all but did want to visit for a few minutes before we leave here in the morning.  We figured at the bottom of the 8th inning only a short time left in the game then we can go back home and read for a while.. Toronto Blue Jays playing the Detroit Tigers.
At the end of the 9th it was a tie game so into overtime. Well we can't leave now only a few minutes left in the game right? WRONG!!  We ended up watching 10 more innings (three hours) and a record of 19 innings for the Toronto Blue Jays. Actually watched more than a regular baseball game in overtime!
But we did actually enjoy this close game and a nice visit as well. Glad we don't watch Baseball more often it takes away from our outside reading time.
19th inning
Bases loaded at the bottom of the 19th and Jose Bautista
hit the winning run.
That was it, everyone happy the Blue jays won and the game was finally over, they could now have a late supper and we can go home. No supper for us we had filling lunch.
Really it was a fun afternoon, something we don't normally do, but did enjoy it. And nice to actually spend some social time with our host.
Thanks for stopping in for a visit and hope you too had a fun day as well.

  2. I missed a good game, we were off for a little visit up to Guelph. If you're going to watch a game, I suppose it may as well be one for the record books, right?

  5. The chair looks great. I've done meat loaf in the smoker. It sure turns out better than in the oven.

  6. Nice job on the chair. I like to repair stuff as well and it usually ends up stronger after the repair.

  8. Another awesome day for you two! Like you and Suzie, I love to read - but I'm curious, how long do you or Suzie read at any one time? I tend to have to get up and do something else then go back to my book. :-) Sure love your blog.
