Where are we today ?
Last night we just had more weather, rain, freezing rain strong winds, but we were "snug as a bug in a rug" Toasty warm, lulled to sleep with the rocking from the wind a pitter patter of rain and hail on of roof. Love getting all snuggly in this kinda weather (not much else to do!).
Up early as usual and once there was some daylight I looked out the dinette window to see what its like out there. Wow look at the ice covered branches, and trees.
this branch about 8 ft away from the window |
large tree on the lawn fell away from the cars, and our coach, good thing, this pic taken from our kitchen window. |
more ice on the west side of our coach this morning |
With this weather the school busses were cancelled again and a lot of power outages all over the area, some businesses closed too. We had chiropractor appointments in Waterloo for 9:30 this morning so in order to get the 1/2 inch of ice off the car I let it run for about 15 minutes first then scrapped the windows. Hmm,,, This poor 11 year old car has never seen this much ice and never been driven on a road laden with salt for melting the ice. AND it's been a while since we had to deal with this s&*t.
very thick ice here |
this ice covered car was parked beside us in Waterloo |
ice covered trees |
Heading in the subdivision where ma lives quite a few trees had fallen, from the heavy ice and high winds.
on the roof of this house |
We had a real nice visit with ma, she provided a very tasty KFC chicken lunch (quick and easy). Coffees and beverages. Then I made a few adjustments and upgrades to her computer before heading back to the farm and relax a few minutes after our back adjustments. Then reinstall our wireless router here at home for our wifi.
The afternoon weather was a bit milder soo, all this ice on the trees was plummeting to the ground and whatever was in its way there. Huge heavy peaces of ice about the size of golf balls and about as heavy. Banging on the vehicles and to roof of our coach, luckily none hit us on the head!
Not sure about damage yet will have to wait until the weather clear up a bit before I get on our roof.
HUGE ice chunks |
Then a discussion with Sandy about what to do for supper. Let's clean out the fridge, lotsa leftovers so, just fried up a mess of potatoes and onions. Left over pork, veggies and gravy in another pan add a tossed salad and we had a very tasty filling meal, cleaned up the leftovers too. Oh yeah and even had enough left for somebody to have for lunch tomorrow.
very tasty supper tonight |
Thanks for stopping in for a peak, we always have something to do here, even if its just dealing with the weather and stuff.
By Sunday its gonna start to warm up and be almost nice, yippee looking forward to that!

Ice can be so destructive, and the poor trees look like they have been ripped. We had the air conditioner on day before yesterday and the furnace last night. We were down in the 30's brrrr it was cold this morning. It is supposed to warm back up though....good
ReplyDeleteHope you don't have any damage.
Crazy weather this year most everywhere.
DeleteOh no. I really hate freezing rain. However, if you don't have to drive in it, it's not so bad. I hope it warms up sooner than later for you.
ReplyDeleteBy the time we had to drive the roads were good.
DeleteWill be warmer next week.
It looks like you will need to wear hard hats until that ice melts. Be Safe and Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteIt's about time.
Ice has melted now we are safe!
DeleteWow...quite the ice storm! Keep the heat going!
ReplyDeleteWe will heat up southern Ontario for you.
DeleteI can't believe all that ice .... ugh
ReplyDeleteDon't you guys miss it???
DeleteThe ice looks beautiful but oh so dangerous. So glad you got there safely.
ReplyDeleteYes we are too, is beautiful thou.
DeleteHoly macaroni! It wasn't that bad here. Rain and snow in a mix but no ice.
ReplyDeleteHope you didn't get any holes in the roof.
We will check and see soon.
DeleteHmmm...perhaps make your medical appts for May 1st next year and stay in the US a tad longer.
ReplyDeleteIf we do that then we have to leave later in the fall and don't want to do that.
DeleteWOW....don't like ice storms. Can't believe you were out and about in that weather! In GA, if that happened, we would be in for days and days...stranded!
ReplyDeleteSo glad to hear warm weather is on the way!
Here they just put lotsa salt on the roads to melt the ice. Messy but safer. The only thing is most cars are completely rusted out after 10 years old!
DeleteWarmer will be much better yes!
All I can say is that weather looks plain ugly! You dinner looked great though!
ReplyDeleteWell we can make the best of the bad weather, keep warm and cook dinner!
DeleteOh no! Please tell me where Omer is! I have been waiting to hear about him.
ReplyDeleteJool: Sorry to tell you this but Omer was put to sleep back in February. He had contacted "coons' disease for the third time in as many years. He was healthy and very active for a 12 year old dog. But with this disease his hind end was paralyzed for more than a week and he could not walk or stand recovery was not likely at all.
DeleteHe is sure missed by us all here.
I'm so sorry to hear that - I had felt that might be the case. We know he had the happiest life a dog could ever have, in a beautiful environment. I'll miss him on your blog, but I definitely know how the life cycle goes - we have a lot of doggie angels up there....
