Wed. Nov. 16th, A wonderful hot day!

Join us as we travel North America in our Holiday Rambler Vacationer,
 since August 2006

A wonderful overnight again, open windows and a fan running, my kinda weather. This morning a nice walkabout by the pond and noticed how low the water is. The have signs around regarding drought conditions, take short showers conserve water, even save the water that drips out of air conditioners for watering plants etc.. We are at Bay View Resort, Rockport Texas, new ownership and going thru some long term renovations, but they are making progress.

While watching the birds a large egret landed in the shallow water and I noticed the feathers were very pink. At first I thought it was a flamingo but it had a very long bill, so I am assuming it was an egret, they are usually bright white.   Its a Pink Ibis, thanks Daryl.
pink egret ??
sure looks pink to me
Thanks to the comments from Daryl I believe this is a Pink Ibis
After this a quick trip to the H.E.B. grocery store in Rockport then back along the Fulton Beach road back to our resort. Some nice mansions, fishing piers and windswept trees make it a nice drive.

The Fulton Mansion here built between 1874 and 1877 is quite impressive, we toured it in 2006 on our first trip to the area.

Back home we just puttered around and enjoyed the lovely hot weather, sit in the shade and enjoy our books for a while with a nice breeze.

Then Rob checked with maintenance to see if we could locate a picnic table, they even delivered it right to our site, now we can have supper outside. We continued to sit around in the shade and chatted a bit more for happy hour before it was time for supper.
Before it got too dark I whipped a large pot of fettuccini alfredo with a whole mess of fresh extra large gulf shrimp, heated up a fresh cheese bread with a nice tossed salad and desert from Rob and Pat. Then we had a feast.

It is so nice to be able to sit outside and enjoy supper still in shorts and t shirts on a very warm evening. I think to eat inside we may have needed to turn on the air conditioner, and I do dislike air conditioning unless it is absolutely necessary. So then we were able to enjoy a beautiful evening outside until around 9 pm when it began to cool down slightly. Too bad about the drought it was a perfect night for a campfire and even our propane firepit would not be allowed. Sometimes we have it so tough but we manage to make do.

Thanks for stopping by and visiting with us.

  1. That dinner looks absolutely wonderful! Way better than our bread and water!! LOL! Never saw a pink egret before. Sure it is not a small flamingo? Or a pink Ibis

  3. Indeed a lovely area. That picnic table looks like it was freshly painted. Yummy looking camarones.
