Join us as we travel North America in our Holiday Rambler Vacationer,
since August 2006
Where are we now?
Brownsville Texas
Todays journey 191 miles
This morning we are secured, said our goodbyes to Rob and Pat then on the road at 8:40 this morning. Our first stop down the road is for fuel, like the price here $3.06 a gal, (81cents a liter).
A nice driving day not much traffic and easily thru Corpus Christie past the Aircaft carrier USS Lexington we had toured years ago and onto TX 77 to Brownsville Texas.

We stopped at the rest area and made lunch. I am always impressed by the ceramic tile work they do in the washrooms here.
nice tile work
Shortly after 1 o'clock we arrived at Riverbend Resort one of the largest and and most impressive that we have been to. For our $10.00 a night, membership rate, we have a huge site with a cement driveway and patio, full 50 amp hookups free wifi and cable tv if we want it. This is very well maintained on a 18 hole golf course and huge clubhouse, heated pool, hot tub. Most of the sites are privately owned, and well maintained. We also noted a lot on Ontario license plates as we made our way to the site.

Now set up we walked over to the clubhouse, right behind us, to checkout the pool etc. And to see if we could sign up for Thanksgiving dinner at 2pm on thursday, deadline was last friday, yes they have room for us Canadians, so now we will be able to celebrate that holiday here.

The river that runs thru the resort is the Colorado River with the big riverbend here giving the resort its name. And on the other side of that river is Mexico, and the border patrol in and around the resort keep a pretty close watch on it.

Now we did also have time to read and relax in the shade enjoying our books before I fired up our barbie to grill a couple of chicken breasts on a bun with some of our Chinese noodles for a nice light supper. Chat for a while then a nice quiet evening.
tasty supper
