Mon. Mar. 21st 2011 Abita Springs LA.

Join us as we travel North America in our Holiday Rambler Vacationer,
 since August 2006

Monday morning, coffees, computing and walkabouts on a fantastic sunny,  hot morning.  Chatting with a few people here and there just enjoying the day.

At 12:30 the plan is to go for lunch at "Louie and the Redhead Lady's" in Covington for a feast of catfish. The six of us drove over there and found a sign "sorry closed today", (hmmm Jon phoned the other day and they were supposed to be open). Well back to Abita Springs and checked out 5 restaurants here and all closed on monday. We were not driving far just checking them all out so we head a mile or so down hwy 59 towards Covington and find Camellia Cafe they are open, its now 2:00 pm and we are hungry.

In the parking lot is this cool looking car, I believe a 1979? Chevy Impala nicely restored and tricked up.
a fun ride
Ok inside we go and and are seated. This place is nicely decorated with a beautiful mural of Bourbon St. in New Orleans.

Now we are a lively group on Bourbon St. in  new Orleans and ready to eat.
a rowdy bunch we are
A different menu than we had planned but we were hungry and everything looked so good. Suzie ordered the Monterey Chicken with potato salad and we shared her caesar salad.

Now for me I a wanted to try a Louisiana  Po-Boy , the traditional shredded roast beef, in gravy on a toasted french loaf fully dressed with fries, very tasty, filling and messy.

Now we took care of our appetites and had a fun excursion, outside to the hot humid weather on the nice porch, back in our vehicles and back home to relax in the shade with our books.

Such a beautiful afternoon, in the shade with a slight cooling breeze, its absolutely amazing. After a bit Emile and Monique from our Galvin Bay park in Ontario dropped by for a delightful visit and chat. Interesting how we meet people from home in the south and spend more time chatting here than at home.

We were able to sit outside until 7:30pm enjoying the warm fresh air but it got too dark to read, we had no supper to cook did that earlier today! Gotta love the lifetsyle in southern Louisiana!

  3. Love those bar stools, they are so cool! That food looks so yummy, you're going to have stop posting pictures of your food as I am starting to gain too much weight.

  4. Kevin and Ruth:
Sorry about the food pictures but after 10 years of running my own restaurant, thats is just something that I have to do. It's not the pictures that make you gain weight just the appetite that comes from looking at them.
