We had a very nice sleep at this visitor's centre, very heavy rain could barley hear the TV at times, and also drowned out some of the road noise from I-10 according to Suzie, I don't hear that stuff. A mild night about 52F outside very comfy in here.Up early and walked about this area for a while and used their very fast free wifi for some updates and a large file that my son had sent me. MP3 he made of a Billy Kell album I had.(he has now) Wow what a nice treat.
Got our coffees and breaky taken care of the sun was up and I-10 was clear to go. So at 7:15 am we hit the road heading west. Mostly a good drive very little traffic and some rough spots here and there. some construction etc. We have been on worse roads.
more across the swamp towards Lafayette LA |
think this is where the firey accident was yesterday |
lots of nice road as well |
a huge bridge over a river? |
oil refineries galore |
more construction for about an hours but not much traffic |
once in Texas even more for a while then not bad |
I-10 got better for a while then we exited at Beaumont Texas taking Tx 105 towards Conroe Texas. |
this TX 105 a wonderful very good 2 lane road, wide shoulders speen limit 75 MPH ! I-10 was mostly 65? |
getting closer to Willis some very scenic back roads for about 20 miles |
Asked about Thanksgiving when we checked in but there will be no celebration at all this year (new owners) Not a problem for us. enjoyed our Thanks giving at home with family. We have done a Thanksgiving meal in the past at this campground before, usually a potluck anyway.
this be the place |
All set up and enjoying a nice warm sunny after noon, about 60F but a cool breeze.
Chatted with our new neighbours Denis and Anne from Washington, formerly Quebec Canada, they just went full-time this year and discovered how membership camping works in their favour. What a very nice friendly couple.
We gave them information about the southwest and BLM lands they would like to explore. Hope that helps them out, so much to see in North America.
this be our nice large site |
$1;75 wash, $1;50 to dry |
fries stay crispy and warm here |
that it was it ready for a feast |
oh yeah sure hit the spot tonight |
The weather not too bad yet, we will play it by ear.
Thanks for following along and hope y'all had a wonderful day as well.
247 miles today |

Where have we been this Winter?
Looks like a great place to relax for a couple weeks, if the weather permits. FREE with FREE usable WiFi is a nice use of your park membership. Are you taking 90 west? or getting back on 10? If 90 don't miss the Rest Area (left turn) or pull-out (on the right) just before the Pecos River. We also enjoyed Langtry - home of Judge Roy Bean, his brother Joshua was San Diego's first Mayor.
ReplyDeleteIt is a nice spot here we have been to many times over the years. We like free. But they do not have wifi no problem we have our own though. We will not be taking 90 west thing time just gonna hop on I-10 to get to Arizona.
DeleteWe did some of 90 quite a few years ago and was a nice drive.
Those member ships really pay off. The fish and chips look really delish
ReplyDeleteYes they sure do pay off fo full timers. And yes the fish and chips very tasty.
DeleteNice to be settled for a couple of weeks to relax and explore. Hope the weather stays nice. Enjoy your time there and keep having fun.
ReplyDeleteThanks Bill , we always enjoy our time in this area, and as you know we always have fun.
DeleteNow you can relax for a couple of weeks and hope the weather warms up for you and Suzie can shrug off that winter coat.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the peace and quiet of the park.
We will take it easy for a few days. Sunny is good and she usually does not have that coat on but was later in the day just before the sunset and cooling down. Peace and quiet here is wonderful.
DeleteFREE is good!! Looks like a nice spot to hang out. I hope the rain stays away!!
ReplyDeleteYup we love free. And really enjoy this area. We might get some rain but we will be busy anyway.
DeleteWow!! You were very close to where I live. If I had known, I would have come up and said "howdy". I live in the Cut & Shoot area.
ReplyDeleteWe be here for bit you can still say "Howdy" would be nice to finally meet up,, We have been through Cut&Shoot a few times over the years.
DeleteLooks like it was a nasty crash. So glad you did what you did and now are settled for a few weeks. The place looks good for free!
ReplyDeleteIt was nasty crash. we settled here for a bit but have some BIG plans.
DeleteGlad you made it to your destination safely. I think you and Suzie always have a good time no matter where you are!!! Hope the weather warms up some for you.
