It was very warm last night for sleeping the low overnight was 72F and 80% humidity. So no comforter, no blankets and windows open we got a wonderful sleep. Slept fast until 4 am then I was ready to go for the day. The morning exercises, breaky coffee and computing waiting for the sunrise to get out for a walkabout. Got my first mile in just after 6 am the headed down the road a few miles to the Piggly Wiggly in Loxley for a few grocery supplies.love seeing all these huge Cotton bales harvested |
not far from the campground they have a Huge fireworks store |
speed limit in the camoground |
We have toured this area quite few times and like to at least stop and see the beach and a few things along the way. About an hours drive down to the beach and walk on the boardwalk (cement sidewalk) for a bit, but was over cast so not a real nice beach day but at least we were there again.
Then made our way back north stopping at Camping world to get a new AC filter that needs to be be replaced.
this was our nice morning drive to the beach |
then there is me on the beach |
This would be wonderful on a sunny day |
nice Board?walk |
Lambert's is a fun experience |
Now all the way back to Robertdale and are ready for lunch at Fin's . Hey what the heck they are closed!!! Supposed to be open a family run operation with great seafood. Hmm. now what to do it is noon we hungry. We are not driving back to the Gulf for a seafood restaurant, BUT! we are always flexible. Around the corner we found the Magnolia Blossom Cafe.
A nice family owned restaurant the kind we prefer rather than fast food chains, Lotsa cars parked outside , a good sign. So we checked it out regular menus, but an interesting buffet, and had food we would like. Southern fried chicken, baked chicken, catfish, chicken livers, liver and onions, mashed potatoes, gravy, rice, beans, turnip greens, veggies, nice salad bar, corn bread muffins with jalapeños and soup.. $10. each yup sounds good and it sure was . Got our catfish, chicken and salad fix and Suzie even had desert . More food than we could sample but we are very satisfied with the food and the service.
this was very tasty |
this is our afternoon view enjoying the very nice warm weather |

Where have we been this Winter?
That was a great price for your lunch buffet. Sounds like you had a good day and the weather was favorable.
ReplyDeleteThe buffet was a nice surprise treat and a good price, no issues with the weather either as very nice day.
DeleteI believe we have the same choices in authors...
ReplyDeleteI just finished "The Rooster Bar" by John Grisham...One of those books you just can't put down..
Upriverdavid
Think so David I have red a lot of Grisham as well and enjoy them too.
DeleteThe beach looked good even without the sun.
ReplyDeleteThe beach here is very nice, but would be a even nicer with the sun.
DeleteWe love that area. What Fins is closed, hopefully just for the day. They do great shrimp there
ReplyDeleteIt is a wonderful area we enjoy. I phoned Fin's they said opened at 11 am Doors locked and closed sign at 12 noon. Maybe we get there another time.
DeleteI always look for a restaurant with a lot of cars. Didn't work quite as well in Trona as there was only ONE restaurant in the entire town!! Love the "throwed rolls"!!
ReplyDeleteSometimes those things happen in small towns. The Magnolia Blossom Cafe' was a good alternative. The throwed rolls are fresh from the oven when they throw them. if you miss it they will throw another. A fun place to visit.
DeleteAlways good to get a catfish fix.
ReplyDeleteYes Larry do love our catfish, always a nice treat.
DeleteWarm weather and a ride to the beach, to bad about no sun, still sounds like a nice day. Sounds like you found a good alternative for lunch.
ReplyDeleteIt was a very nice day and the rain mostly held off and tasty lunch treat.
DeleteHey see you are having a great time as usual we are at the top of Alabama you at the bottom lol you been here on Gunterville lake in langLang Alabama.enjoy
ReplyDeleteYes we are having a wonderful time no complaints at all. Loving Alabama and yes we have to Mountains Lakes there a few times when it was ROD and loved it. You guy keep enjoying yourselves as well.
DeleteLangston Alabama mountain lakes
ReplyDeleteYup we know that park very nice on the lakes.
DeleteGood to see those shorts back on!
ReplyDeleteThanks Stew ,feels wonderful we are loving this very warm weather.
DeleteWhile we were in Wichita, KS a couple of weeks ago I noticed there were several cotton fields, and we saw a few of the big pink bales. It's the first time I had seen any in the area.
ReplyDeleteWe are not too far from a Lambert's (Springfield, MO). We do love their "thrown rolls", but we don't stop as often as we used to.
It looks like you found a good alternative to the restaurant you originally planned to visit. That catfish sure looks good.
Oh those temperatures sure sound nice. It's supposed to be 19 here tomorrow morning - when we are moving to our son's house for a week. It is supposed to warm up through the day though to low 40's, and no more early morning temps expected like that in the following week. We usually have pretty mild temperatures through the end of the year, with a few really cold days sneaking in occasionally.
Lamberts is a fun experience and the rolls awesome. The alternative we found was excellent thanks. That still is pretty cold there for you , we loving the earth down here.
