First day back home on land, enjoying this weather and a doggie fix for Suzie.

Where are we today ?
clic a pic to enlarge it
Back home in our own bed and slept very well, but miss the movement of the ship. Slept right through until 5 am woke up wondering where are we? Hmm, had to take a peek and realized back in our coach in a campground. Outta bed and had trouble walking, seems I don't have my land legs yet, after bring at sea for a week. Suzie got up and stumbled around saying the same thing. 46F at this time.
After some coffees and computing waiting for the sunrise, I did a short walkabout then into town to explore and stock up on a few needed supplies. I first stopped at the Willis Market, love going in this store , listening to Mexican music, seeing all the piñatas ( hanging from the ceiling) and checking out all their interesting foods they have here, almost like being in Mexico.
always enjoy checking out this store
Christmas piñatas.
Then to the large Kroger grocery store to get what we need for the next few days. Always some deal to be had here, it is one huge store!
fresh Christmas trees here ready to sell
they are about $70. and up
glad we don't do that anymore
Back home for a walkabout and checking for a package we are expecting. Not here yet hopefully today. Then a light tasty lunch and then afternoon reading in the sun 65F and a few more walkabouts enjoying this dryer air and sunshine. Checked our tires, dumped our sewage and checked our oil, hoping to be on the road in the morning.
beautiful clear blue skies today
loving it
As we were reading outside a lady walked by with her 2 dogs, stopped to chat for a while and Suzie got a very nice doggie fix.
very nice friendly dogs, they sure like Suzie
Still checking on our package, it left Houston this morning just after 7 am for delivery. Houston only 1 hour south. But no sign of it by 3:30pm. So I did a quick trip to the Willis post office and has not arrived there yet. But could come in and be scanned overnight, If that happens I can go there early in the morning pick it up and secure our coach and be on our way. If not looks like we may be staying  here a bit longer.
By 4:45 pm it was cooling down and the sun setting so inside to while up supper. Preheat our oven to bake some salmon fillets while I made a salad.
not a bad sunset but the wires kinda spoil it
this was supper and sure hit the spot
All the food on our cruise was wonderful , but we ate a bit too much. Nice to get back to our controlled eating, portions and healthier foods.
I did actually get 3.5 miles walked today, not as easy walking as on the ship, gotta watch where I am stepping.
Where did the day go? Not sure but we both enjoyed the relaxing quiet sunny day back at our home again.
Thanks once again for joining us and if our package comes in overnight we will be on the road in the morning, If not, we play it by ear , we don't have many plans,  just the way we love  living this lifestyle.

clic a pic to enlarge it
What a wonderful sleep we had last night nice and warm, windows open and very comfortable with a cool breeze coming in the windows. Now this is the way we love it!
Early morning waiting for the sunrise but is more like a fog rise. Pretty foggy for a couple of hours but the sun soon burned it off.
started off very foggy at 6 am but
cleared to a beautiful warm sunny day
One of my walkabouts took me down by Lake Conroe here in the park. This is a beautiful lake and nice boat launch ramp with few guys putting their boats in for the day.
a very nice lake here great
for boating and fishing
More of my walkabouts looking at these park models here, they look nice but so close together , , my thoughts, may as well be in an apartment in the city.
sure not for us
the lake is nice
waterfront cabins, but too close
We spent a couple of hours today organizing and packing our bags for the cruise we are heading out to in the morning, A western Caribbean cruise for 7 days. We will have no phone service or texts  but should be able to get emails. A gift to each other for our 25th wedding anniversary. I could pack mine in 5 minutes but Suzie wants to pick the clothes I will wear!
Ok we got that all figured out and now we can enjoy some of this 79F weather outside and get some serious reading done soaking up the sunshine too.
what a perfect day for sunshine and shorts
I finished one Robert Crais book and got right into the next one, Love reading about the adventures of Elvis Cole and Joe Pike.

Shortly after 2 pm I prepped our baby back ribs in sauerkraut for go on our Weber Q. For that recipe you can click HERE or my recipe blog top right sidebar.

Power outage, laundry, meeting fellow bloggers and followers.

Where are we today ?
clic a pic to enlarge it
This wonderful weather is sure agreeing with us, No too cold, no rain, sunny and warm, low 70'sF, what is not to love about that?  At 6:30 this morning I enjoyed a very nice walkabout this quiet park enjoying the fresh air a peacefulness, not a soul in sight. I was surprised that I did not take any pictures this morning when I checked, but nothing jumped out at me.
Plan "A" was to do our laundry early this morning. But when we were ready at 8:30 am the power went out in the park! We are flexible so no problem. Ok plan "B", I whipped into Willis and grabbed some cash from the ATM (bank) in town, Take care of our needs for a while , always like to have some cash in our pockets.
Back home and shortly after 10 am the power was back on just like they said it would be. The laundry sorted by Suzie and I took it over for the machines to do their magic, while enjoying reading in the car. This done we enjoyed a tasty light lunch then the afternoon very warm sunshine reading our page turners outside.
We are having visitors this afternoon fellow Blogger Dizzy Dick that we have followed for many years and they just happen to live close by in Cut and Shoot Texas. Not to far from here. They wanted to give us a Texas welcome so they agreed to drop by and meet us this afternoon.  Wow! what a treat to meet a fellow blogger and follower after all these years.
They arrived shortly after 2 pm and we flapped our gums getting to know each other "In Person  " always nice to actually meet fellow bloggers face to face and he even brought along his wife Ruth .
We chatted and shared stories of our adventures and travels over the years what a super couple they are, I always enjoy his postings of his off the wall interesting thoughts that he comes up with.
Dizzy Dick and Ruth

hey we got group picture.Dizzy, Ruth, Suzie and me
Way too soon they headed back home but was time to whip up supper for us soon anyway . Time sure flies when we have something to chat about as most rv 'ers do.
I made our salad preheated our Weber Q and the sun was beginning to set. Grilled a couple of boneless pork chops on our grill mat, maybe 5 minutes a side so they were tender and juicy
tasty moist chops with our salad
hit the spot tonight
We got things taken care of and met a fellow blogger, enjoyed the warm sunny day and tasty meal what more can we ask for?
Want to thank y:all for stopping on by again.

Where are we today ?
clic a pic to enlarge it
Low of only 52f overnight and a very quiet good nights sleep. Thanksgiving Day here and this place is so peaceful, I enjoyed a nice walkabout with the very warm sunshine and no wind. So relaxing. And feel wonderful , Then we puttered around for a while  and made a quick trip  into Willis fill out 5 gallon RO water jug at Kroger's Grocery store open today until 4 pm. Not so busy like it was yesterday . Then a cruise about town, pretty quiet and very little traffic was interesting to see all the stores and fast food places open today on Thanksgiving, but I guess it is what it is.
a nice pavilion up by the pool
nice log cabins facing the ;lake
Now the pool and hot tub would be amazing here, not warm enough here for us yet maybe for Patsy?
a very nice pool area
We enjoyed a light tasty lunch and this amazing warm sunny day here, Got to 72F and full sunshine pretty well all day Not a day for the pool but excellent none the less. We enjoyed reading outside and a few more walkabouts made for a great day!
our views this afternoon enjoying the warm sunshine
Soon time for Happy Hour and I enjoyed another Abita Springs beer, This one the Big Easy a very tasty IPA, that I really enjoyed,
pretty tasty IPA
a very nice warm sunny day
Chatted with our neighbours for a while before they headed out for a tour, had a nice hot shower and enjoyed our page turners on our e-readers.
About 4 pm our new neighbours Denis and Anne joined us for a fun Happy Hour, we shared a lot of stories and tips with them and had a great time meeting new full timer rv' ers. And all their travels, they sure have been busy in the first year as we were too.
Dennis and Anne
Soon time for our tasty Thanksgiving dinner , No Turkey today but we have a 1/2 of a chicken we can do on our Weber Q to go with our salad. Works for us a Thanksgiving chicken sure is a great way to celebrate .
nice full moon tonight
Chicken done to perfection crispy on the outside because of the amazing Texas rub I use (it has sugar in it so will brown a bit)  Inside the chicken is so moist and tender.
done perfectly
1/2 of the chicken breast for me
we will have more leftovers
We both enjoyed this wonderful very warm sunny day outside , like we love. Got lotsa reading done, discussed our  upcoming excursions, and really enjoyed visiting with Denis and Anne.
This is  the way we enjoy our travels avoiding all the cold and snow back home, no matter where we are. New places and new faces is what this lifestyle is all about.
Thanks for dropping on by and hope ya" all had a wonderful day as well.

Happy Thanksgiving to all our American friends and a very nice peaceful relaxing day.

Where are we today ?
clic a pic to enlarge it
Cool night great for sleeping 52 F at 5 am and warmed up nicely on a wonderful sunny day. Did manage to get to 68F no complaints here at all, nice and sunny.
I got a few walkabouts this park first thing this morning, and no improvements made over the years at all other than all of these brand new park model trailers there are selling for around 100 G kinda feels like this campground will be a thing of the past in the near future . Too bad because we have enjoyed this area many times over the years with some good friends, Rob, Pat and Lady girl, Emile and Monique as well as Larry and Marylin all at different times and even a few times just the 2 of us.
Now tomorrow is the American Thanksgiving and most years we have enjoyed a meal at this campground and others in our travels. No celebration here at all this year.  No problem we have some Thanksgiving chicken we will enjoy on our Weber Q. Was going to do a Turkey but we heading out for a week so no point in that.
so much to be Thankful for and hope y'all
enjoy your day as well
This be what the roads look like same as they were over 10 years ago, Washrooms still the same but clean at least. We not complaining only here for a few days free camping and free storage right on our site all hooked up while we are gone for a week, another great bonus.
just down the road in front of us
very nice park models all for sale
almost like a mini subdivision but not
many people here is good
nice boat launch ramp and docks on the lake
this RV was parked 2 sites down
from us in Robertsdale Alabama
sure can't miss it
A very nice afternoon reading in the warm sunshine and just t-shirts for a while even Suzie with just a light sweater. And a few more walkabouts as well.
we had a great day until about 4 pm then the clouds came in
cooled down to the high 50's
Supper tonight we trying some Shrimp Boudin a Cajun spiced sausage with shrimp and rice.
we split this package 1 lb too much for us in one meal
by 4 pm the skies darkened , but had a great day
then rained for a bit
While it was raining we discussed our next weeks travels for a while then at 5 pm fired up our Weber Q to grill these Boudin, to add to our salad.
they grilled very nicely
added to our salad and was very tasty
a bit of spice but Suzie
actually enjoyed it
Just a nice relaxing day enjoying the weather and checked out a few things in town, but not too much with all the traffic nice to be off the roads.
Thanks for dropping on by and hope y'all have a wonderful American Thanksgiving I know we will.

Willis Texas for a while taking it easy for a bit.

Where are we today ?
clic a pic to enlarge it
We had a very nice sleep at this visitor's centre, very heavy rain could barley hear the TV at times, and also drowned out some of the road noise from I-10 according to Suzie, I don't hear that stuff. A mild night about 52F outside very comfy in here.
Up early and walked about this area for a while and used their very fast free wifi for some updates and a large file that my son had sent me. MP3 he made of a Billy Kell album I had.(he has now) Wow what a nice treat.
Got our coffees and breaky taken care of the sun was up and I-10 was clear to go. So at 7:15 am we hit the road heading west. Mostly a good drive very little traffic and some rough spots here and there. some construction etc. We have been on worse roads.
more across the swamp
towards Lafayette LA
think this is where the firey accident was yesterday
lots of nice road as well
a huge bridge over a river?
oil refineries galore
more construction for about an hours but not much traffic
once in Texas even more for a while then not bad
We stopped at the Flying J in Orange Texas to fuel up Gas was $2.20 a gallon diesel $3.15 sure glad our rv is gas! We did actually see gas for $1.98 a gallon but going eastbound and not an rv friendly station.
I-10 got better for a while then we exited at
Beaumont Texas taking Tx 105 towards Conroe Texas.
this TX 105 a wonderful very good 2 lane road, wide shoulders
speen limit 75 MPH ! I-10 was mostly 65?
getting closer to Willis some very scenic back
roads for about 20 miles
This be our destination another membership campground where we can stay for 2 weeks (free) no overnight fees full hookups and 50 amp service to boot! Not that we need it. The sites are not fancy at all but we really don't care we have what we need in our own house.
Asked about Thanksgiving when we checked in but there will be no celebration at all this year (new owners) Not a problem for us. enjoyed our Thanks giving at home with family. We have done a Thanksgiving meal in the past at this campground before, usually a potluck anyway.
this be the place
We do have a decent pull through site, lotsa room and close to the laundry and facilities.
All set up and enjoying a nice warm sunny after noon, about 60F but a cool breeze.
Chatted with our new neighbours Denis and Anne from Washington, formerly Quebec Canada, they just went full-time this year and discovered how membership camping works in their favour. What a very nice friendly couple.
We gave them information about the southwest and BLM lands they would like to explore. Hope that helps them out, so much to see in North America.
this be our nice large site
Checked out the laundry room and found out I need to set up an account and pay with credit card . no cash needed.  A cool system we are finding more of these in our travels.
$1;75 wash, $1;50 to dry
Soon time for supper, Suzie would like fish and chips so I cut up a couple of potatoes,  fried them crispy in our fry daddy, set them in a foil pan with paper towels on our preheated Weber Q to keep warm .
fries stay crispy and warm here
Then I gave the fryer a few minutes to get back to temperature, and quickly fried the last of our Cod Fish fillets.
that it was it ready for a feast
oh yeah sure hit the spot tonight
That was our good travel day, parked here for 2 weeks, just because we can and its free. Why Not?
The weather not too bad yet, we will play it by ear.
Thanks for following along and hope y'all had a wonderful day as well.
247 miles today
