Woke up this morning at 4:30 am and was 43F outside ,much cooler than it has been, overcast all day with a bit of drizzle off and on but never got above 48F. We have had some really amazing weather so far this fall so no complaints at all. The rain has pretty well stopped. I did get a couple of nice early walkabouts enjoying the scenery in the park, it has not changed much over the years but has been cleaned up and improvements made, always nice to see.nice ponds and bridge to the club house |
around the pool area very nice, but too cold right now |
puzzle corner |
upstairs a nice pool room if you like |
love this store |
wow! |
beer selections from all over the world |
local beers too |
you want the best wines? they have them here ! |
not in our budget thanks |
From there on the way back stopped at Rouse's grocery store Louisiana owned and some more very interesting different foods, fresh seafood and spices. Oh my I could have a field day here. Gotta eat up some food in our freezer then will go back and grab some things.
expensive aged beef but I am sure these would be amazing again not in out budget |
excellent fresh seafood here as well good prices |
After lunch I did quick trip in Abita Springs Auto Zone for some injector cleaner for our coach, think it needs to be done after all a lot of fuel has passed through those fuel injectors in 142,000 miles at 7 .5 miles per gallon.
After noon temps not any better down to 46F so no sitting outside today. A few more walkabouts though. Got some computer purging and back ups done and enjoyed our reading inside where we are quite comfy.
Back home for the rest of the day. Our Neighbours have left so we now have this huge area all to ourselves , just the way we like it.
perfect and so very quiet |
I bought an Abita Springs Brewery Beer to try, they have so many different kinds. This one I bought today is called Strawgator . I have tried most of their beers here in the past (they used to have free tours and tastings) and enjoyed most all of them in the past, and this one very tasty their Andy Gator Beer infused with Strawberries, but pretty high test, (8%) and oh so smooth.
hmm very different and tasty |

Where have we been this Winter?
Some great pictures. The gumbo looked wonderful. Cold everywhere today I think. Enjoy!!!
ReplyDeleteDeb
Thanks Deb the gumbo was excellent, gonna warm up in a day or so again though.
DeleteSeems this cold weather is everywhere. pretty darn cold here with crazy winds which made it even colder.
ReplyDeleteWe are having some strange weather this year for sure.
DeleteGreat pictures of the area. A store with beers from around the world would be Tom's type of grocery shopping...lol Stay warm.
ReplyDeleteLove this area, my kind of shopping too.
DeleteHopefully that will be the end of the cold for the winter for the South. I had been in a Rouses in NOLA but never saw expensive cuts of meat like the rib eye you showed. Pair it with a bottle of wine from the other store and your looking at just under 1K for a meal. I just can not comprehend who in their right mind would even buy the items.
ReplyDeleteThis Is the first time I have seen this here at Rouse's as well. I guess some people have a lot more disposable income than most.
DeleteYour weather sounds balmy compared to here. It's well below freezing here.
ReplyDeleteThat was quite the store!
We winterize tomorrow and plan to get out of here on Friday.
Take care!
Heck it is above freezing and no snow here so that's pretty good for us. Both the stores are interesting. Get tousled all packed up and on the road travel safe.
DeleteThe difference in Canadian and US grocery stores is always amazing to me. I cannot figure out why. Even our large Zehrs in Goderich is so mediocre compared to Wegmans in Rochester. When I visit my mother, going to the grocery store is like a visitor attraction to me. And don't get me started on Wegman's sample days.... that campsite looks like a winner. Kelly
ReplyDeleteThat is so true , always enjoy checking out the different grocery stores in different areas. Love the Wegmans in Niagara Falls New York when we stop there for a few days. We are enjoying the campsite as we always have. So many interesting places to see in our travels.
Deletelooks like a good place to spend some time even though you are getting some pretty cold weather.
ReplyDeleteYes Larry it is I am sure you would find some wonderful different tasty foods here, The Cajun, Creole dishes and seafood excellent.
DeleteI have to say your park membership sure includes some NICE parks, unlike my Thousand Trails membership which has parks way below the standard. Do they have any in California and Arizona?
ReplyDeleteWe do have some pretty nice parks, always some nicer than others, We do have a couple by Yuma, Huachuca cityAZ, Desert Hot springs CA, Lake Havasu, Bullhead city we have been to them as well.
DeleteThat gumbo sounds delicious as does the beer :-)
ReplyDeleteOh yeah they were both very tasty.
DeleteOh my goodness I've saw a $99.00 bottle of wine yesterday and thought that was ridiculous! I can't even imagine those prices there! Interesting to see though. Ken likes trying out new beers from different breweries, but he's an IPA man, don't think he'd try the straw gator gotta love the name though! Nice park, and very well kept!
ReplyDeleteThat is some pricey wine for sure. They do have some interesting IPA brews here a s well that Ken would enjoy, I have tried them all. This one just sounded interesting.
