Drive to the beach at Gulf Shores Alabama and a wonderful lunch buffet on a another very warm day.

Where are we today ?
clic a pic to enlarge it
It was very warm last night for sleeping the low overnight was 72F and 80% humidity. So no comforter, no blankets and windows open we got a wonderful sleep. Slept fast until 4 am then I was ready to go for the day. The morning exercises, breaky coffee and computing waiting for the sunrise to get out for a walkabout. Got my first mile in just after 6 am the headed down the road a few miles to the Piggly Wiggly in Loxley for a few grocery supplies.
love seeing all these huge Cotton bales harvested
not far from the campground they have
a Huge fireworks store
speed limit in the camoground
Back home before 8 am and we discussed what to do today, forecast says rain most of the day so we decided  to take a drive to the Gulf Shores because it has been few years and thought we would go out for a seafood lunch.
We have toured this area quite few times and like to at least stop and see the beach and a few things along the way. About an hours drive down to the beach and walk on the boardwalk (cement sidewalk) for a bit, but was over cast so not a real nice beach day but at least we were there again.
Then made our way back north stopping at Camping world to get a new AC filter  that needs to be be replaced.
this was our nice morning drive to the beach
then there is me on the beach
This would be wonderful on a sunny day
nice Board?walk
Heading back north we passed by Lambert's Cafe (home of the throwed rolls) an entertaining experience in eating it is for sure (you have to catch the fresh made rolls they throw) and the food in not too bad, but we have been there at least twice, were looking forward to some seafood.
Lambert's is a fun  experience
Now all the way back to Robertdale and are ready for lunch at Fin's . Hey what the heck they are closed!!! Supposed to be open a family run operation with great seafood. Hmm. now what to do it is noon we hungry. We are not driving back to the Gulf for a seafood restaurant, BUT! we are always flexible. Around the corner we found the Magnolia Blossom Cafe.
A nice family owned restaurant the kind we prefer rather than fast food chains, Lotsa cars parked outside , a good sign. So we checked it out regular menus, but an interesting buffet, and had food we would like. Southern fried chicken, baked chicken, catfish, chicken livers, liver and onions, mashed potatoes, gravy,  rice, beans, turnip greens, veggies, nice salad bar, corn bread muffins with jalapeños and  soup.. $10. each yup sounds good and it sure was . Got our catfish, chicken and salad fix and Suzie even had desert . More food than we could sample but we are very satisfied with the food and the service.
this was very tasty
That was our fun outing for today home just after 1 pm and began to drizzle a bit , So open our awning to read outside and be dry still 79F and 85% humidity (no wind) so very comfortable. I did get a couple of walkabouts when the drizzle let up and tonight no need for supper again after that wonderful meal at lunch. We chatted with a few local people that dropped by to chat and enjoyed our e-readers. Me getting caught up with Elvis Coles adventures. By Robert Crais. Elvis is a private investigator with a humour always fun reading.
this is our afternoon view enjoying
the very nice warm weather
Now to relax outside dark now and will take all this warm weather we can get, gonna soon cool off again.
Read out here some more and head inside to see what's in tv for a bit. Then see what tomorrow brings.
Thanks for joining us today and really hope y'all had great day as well.

  5. I always look for a restaurant with a lot of cars. Didn't work quite as well in Trona as there was only ONE restaurant in the entire town!! Love the "throwed rolls"!!

    1. Sometimes those things happen in small towns. The Magnolia Blossom Cafe' was a good alternative. The throwed rolls are fresh from the oven when they throw them. if you miss it they will throw another. A fun place to visit.

  11. While we were in Wichita, KS a couple of weeks ago I noticed there were several cotton fields, and we saw a few of the big pink bales. It's the first time I had seen any in the area.
We are not too far from a Lambert's (Springfield, MO). We do love their "thrown rolls", but we don't stop as often as we used to.
It looks like you found a good alternative to the restaurant you originally planned to visit. That catfish sure looks good.
Oh those temperatures sure sound nice. It's supposed to be 19 here tomorrow morning - when we are moving to our son's house for a week. It is supposed to warm up through the day though to low 40's, and no more early morning temps expected like that in the following week. We usually have pretty mild temperatures through the end of the year, with a few really cold days sneaking in occasionally.
