Biloxi Mississippi for a few days

Where are we today ?
clic a pic to enlarge it
Another warm night 73 F at 5 am and 80% humidity but no sunshine yet. I got a few walkabouts this morning and coffees consumed no real rush today only have to travel a leisurely 82 Miles to Biloxi. Another membership park under AOR (adventure outdoor resorts) only $9.00 a night. But because our coach is 36 feet we had to pay an extra $4 a night, for a 50 amp site we don't need, but really a much nicer and large site. Cement parking pads and patios worth the extra.
Nice drive along I-10 and the road are pretty good, No complaints from us at all. We arrived at Martin Lake by 11 am got checked in and set up in no time. Pretty hot 83F and much hotter in the sun, One of the first things I did was open our awning, Then a light tasty lunch, Satellite dish set up and we will be good here for the next 4 days.
I-10 towards Mobile AL
the tunnel under Mobile
Moving right along we crossed into Mississippi at stopped at the welcome centre. Picked up some info for the area and enjoyed the free coffee they offered , a nice touch. Also noted they have a free dump station here too.
a very nice welcome centre they have
some wonderful sculptures in their garden
from trees that had been damaged from the hurricanes
Sandhill crane
love this staircase in the welcome centre
crossing more swamp land
We arrived at Martin Lake Resort checked in and got nicely set-up . Glad we have cement pads and patios the ground here is very wet as usual for this area.
the ducks here like it though
I got a few walkabouts the pool and hot tub is open and working I may just dip in the hot tub if we have another hot sunny day
this is inviting but not today
wonderful playground for the kids
washroom building looks nice on the outside
but tired inside
we have a nice site here and a wonderful warm sunny day
We got some time to enjoying reading in the shade and watch some of the kids here having fun outside , they are all barefoot and shirtless just having fun, Something we don't see much of in our winter travels
the view from our patio
these red headed ducks we only see in this area and Louisianna
I finished another Robert Craig Book and began another Elvis Cole, next in the series I am really hooked on his adventures with Joe Pike.
Soon time to fire up our Weber Q to grill a couple of chicken breasts. We need to do it earlier now as it gets dark at 5:02 pm.
couple of tasty split chicken breasts did the trick
added to our salad , we good
Now at 7 pm still 68 F outside and very dark so heading inside for the night. read a bit more and watch something on the Tube, (whatever Suzie wants is fine with me).
This was another wonderful warm day , enjoying this weather and moving on down the road is what we love. A few things we will check out in this area again , it's been a few years.
Glad you dropped in the check us out and hope y'all had a wonderful day as well.
82.8 miles today

  2. Hope the weather holds for you, be nice to be able to read outside. I was surprised by the number of homes built on stilts in preparation for the next Katrina. Had a fish taco made with catfish, a nice firm white meat that worked! at one of the beach spots - OK I need to write down these places... Keep up the road conditions reports, I-10 seems to vary greatly and we might be in that area next year.

    1. The weather has been doing pretty good for us , no complaints at all. So far the sections of I-10 have been pretty good, mind you we will still be travelling another 2,000 miles on it . We do love catfish and excellent fish.

  4. We stayed in that same park on our way east several years ago. They had a water/pipe leak when we were there so the cement pad was very good to have under us. The ducks still seem to be enjoying the wet area.
Really like the sculptures at the welcome center. What a great way to make something beautiful out of the damage.

    1. This park has always been wet every time we were here. the cement roads and pads are very necessary. Love all the sculptures and we will see a lot more in only the coast in Biloxi.

  5. Very nice looking park for a great price. I also don't like that it gets dark so early at 5PM. Takes some getting used to.

    1. it is a nice park and love the membership price, Adjusting to the early sunset is something we don't much care for but it is what it is.

  6. I was surprised when I read where you are. Looks like they have cleaned up that Park from your pictures. Stayed there about 6 years ago, as it is a PA park. There were far too many permanent residents who did not care about their RVs or trailers. Looks great now.

    1. Still lots fo older rv's and permanent residents here, not too much different than 6 years ago, but our site is nice and we enjoy the area for the price with full hookups and free wifi.
