Now this was a busy day we had yesterday and another busy one today Had a great sleep last night and up early as usual. 4:30 am I think it was, We want to see more things again and get some issues taken care of.After the sun came up and we consumed some coffees got a nice walkabout this resort for a mile or so about 7:30 am. Still much cooler today but sunny only 42f.
a nice sunrise here this morning |
a nice beach volleyball court here |
children's playground |
nice pavilion |
huge pool, closed for the season |
Now about 8:30 this morning we headed to the Gettysburg Visitor centre to begin our day. Pretty well everything starts from here.
this be the place and it is huge! |
So the first hour we toured the museum and did not even get to see it all before time for the film,
soldiers in uniform |
amazing statistics |
these canons are everywhere around this area |
What a sight to see and experience. it was truly awesome! These pictures do not do it justice at all.
After 2 hours here we decided to take the self driving tour that is free. Using the map provided we headed on out . No point me taking a guided narrated tour for a lot of money when I will not hear or understand the narration anyway.Follow the marked route and the map we enjoyed some amazing scenery for another hour or so then headed home for a light lunch.
interesting home here in town reminds us of New Orleans |
We decided to stop half way seeing as we are very close to home and enjoy lunch here. Plus we had other issues to take care of. Just before we got to this campground our coach had developed a very distinct vibration, when accelerating. Think maybe a universal joint, So I found an rv shop close by and went to to talk to them. We agreed to take our coach in there first thing (tomorrow) Thursday morning for 8 am and they will take care of it we hope, or they will try. The needs to be taken car of.
it was a nice afternoon reading enjoying the sunshine |
Then grilled a couple of boneless pork chops on our grill mat to go a with a tasty salad.
this was very tatsy |
Then store our water and sewage hoses, as well as the Weber Q so we don''t have worry about that in an early cold morning.
Oh we did more this afternoon , will save that until tomorrow.
hey we even got to see a nice almost full moon tonight as well |
Glad that y'all dropped by for a peek and hope you had a great day as well.

Where have we been this Winter?
Over the 3 days, the Battle at Gettysburg remains the deadliest battle in US history. Such a beautiful location for such a depressing bit of history.
ReplyDeleteYes Jeff it sure is a beautiful area and a really depressing bit of history with all the lives lost.
DeleteI've never been to Gettysburg, but I have visited Manassas (Bull Run) many times. It's not the history as such that impresses, but the ghosts of the men who fought there that really haunt the fields.
ReplyDeleteFor sure the ghosts of all those thousands who lost their lives here fighting those battles.
DeleteThere is certainly some neat history in that country. Hope your repair is simple and cheap. Safe travels
ReplyDeleteSo much very interesting history all over the United States and has been so well preserved .
DeleteThanks we can hope the repair goes well at least.
Sure hope the issues with your coach are an easy, cheap fix.
ReplyDeleteThanks we can always hope.
DeleteA very sobering experience. We were there several years ago and it still makes me sad to think about all the young men who died there. Thanks for the pictures.
ReplyDeleteYour welcome, its is a very sad sobering experience.
DeleteWe've never been to Gettysburg but must make it some day.
ReplyDeleteIt is very interesting and informative.
DeleteThe diorama was amazing. Happens I broke three toes and got to be placed in a wheelchair and use the elevator. We were at the museum almost all day!!
ReplyDeleteIt is amazing, and your sure could spend the whole day there. Too bad about the broken toes.
DeleteLike so many others this is on our list of places to visit.
ReplyDeleteIt is a very sad part of our history but it is important to know about so we learn from the past. So many people in this country want to destroy the unpleasant/sad parts. Thanks for sharing the pictures.
Continued safe travels and we hope by the time you read this your coach has been fixed.
Celebrating the Dance
Thanks guys.I
Deletet is a sad part of your history but a worthwhile visit,
Love checking out local history when we're on the road.
ReplyDeleteWe do too and have really learned a lot of American history right here.
DeleteWe toured Gettysburg on our honeymoon 41 years ago. Glad to see that it is still preserved so folks can learn from history and never repeat it.
ReplyDeleteIt is something that does not need to be repeated for sure.
