Gettysburg to Virgina, taking our time.

Where are we today ?

Hey That's us !
Not a bad night at all 42F at 5 am and warming up slowly. No rush today just going to stop at a Flying J this afternoon. I did enjoy a nice walkabout the campground for a couple of miles enjoying the fresh air and scenery. Had another coffee, stored  our satellite dish and hooked up the car. We ready to go.
She has been waiting a long time
for Halloween
lots of nice cabins here
General lee's Cabin
We left the campground about 10:15 and stopped in Maryland to add a bit of gas to our coach so we could make it to the Flying J. Pennsylvania was $2.99 a gallon. Maryland $2;85 and the Flying J $2; 40. A no brainer will fill up here and stop for the night and enjoy free parking as well. Added 60 gallons of gas and saved $32.40 a vey nice savings, help pay for our repair yesterday.
Through Maryland. North Virginia the into Virginia, Managed to by pass Washington DC no problem , clear sailing all the way just a bit of slow down around Frederickburg, Stopped at a couple of rest areas to stretch and make lunch enjoying the liesurely pace.
we by passed these n problem
glad we are heading south instead of north
nice travelling along here
Base Quantico? FBI headquarters?
a bit of slow down but sitting high in the coach
we can see what is going on
Arrived at the Flying J fuelled up and parked just after 3 pm. Relax a bit, do some reading after a few walkabouts, happy hour and then whip up supper. It is raining but we cozy inside.
We are secure here now
spotted this boat at the pumps, 3 massive outboard
motors on the back, that sure would be quick !
heating our English Muffin on our Blue Flame
Supper tonight a very tasty one. Our Canadian Peameal bacon on an English muffin, with egg cheese and tomato for me. Added a few potato chips and this did the trick today.
quick and easy a nice treat
that was it for our day
Still pouring down rain. and this posting is pretty well done. So time to get my Kobo going and back into some Jack Reacher escapades. Maybe even watch a bit of TV later on. We have 35 local channels on our antenna so will enjoy something I am sure.
Thanks for checking us out and hope y'all had a wonderful day.
148 miles today.

Lincoln train museum, coach checked out, more battlefields and a nice sunny day

Where are we today ?

At 5 am it was 50 F outside and we had a very wonderful sleep.
Yesterday afternoon we went to the Lincoln Train museum and we both enjoyed the presentation here, only 5 dollars each for seniors , and we figured it was well worth the price.
this the place
Suzie and Abe
We enjoyed a few videos on the way in and watched the funeral train display , that was interesting and enteratining.
Then into the simulated funeral train. Now this was cool. When the video began the train car rocked and rolled like  real train, including the sound of the old steam engine and rough tracks on occasion .
the funeral car
Lincoln tell us some stories
Now to check out the train displays, interactive and quite well done.
Now today, Thursday,  we got up to frost on the car windshield ,
Our plan is to secure the coach and head down the road  for 8 am to S & S Rv to get the vibration in our coach checked out.
Only 2 miles  away and we were there  . George took our coach into the shop and they began checking all the universal joints, hanger bearings. brakes and the differential, replacing the fluids as well., Everything looked good and no issues there, Glad that this was all checked out and now we (at least I ) can sleep better. We were out of there by 1 pm and our check book 5 hundred dollars lighter. But in our minds well worth it! For a peace of mind. We still have slight vibration but do not have a clue where it is coming from. But at least these issues have been checked out.
They have a nice dog here that loves Suzie (Zues) is his name a very playful guy he is.
loves Susie and wants to play
pet me more please!
Now at 9am  and they are taking care of things in the shop so we headed on out to drive the rest of the Battlegrounds just because we had the time.
So many battle grounds and so many Battles fought here in 3 days  The Confederates and the Union American soldiers and over 50,000 casualties . Such a tragic battle this was . So much blood shed.
we stopped here at this place
to look out
I climbed this tower for a view
view of this battlefield from the tower
this is the Pennsylvania memorial
very impressive
Mind you the memorials all through this area are amazing. In reality if we stopped to read every single one we would be here for a week or more. This driving tour is 24 miles long.
wagons and cannons everywhere
Now to the Soldiers National Cemetery. A sobering place to see. This was also The site where Lincoln delivered the Gettysburg Address.
So many  solders are buried here and so many unknown ones as well . most were buried by the state they were from . Like this one below.
This is one part of American History that we did not know about and really not sure what to think about it other than an awful lot of deaths of American soldiers. fighting for what they believed in.
We got back to our campsite just after 1 pm, And hooked up again,  now to relax in the afternoon sunshine outside, Temps into the mid 60s. and some sunshine , This we can take, enjoy our e-readers and a nice Happy Hour.
it was very nice out here for a couple of hours
relaxing in the sun
Soon it was time for supper. So I preheated our oven heated up a couple of Cornish Pasties and some gravy to go with a tasty salad.
love these pasties
 little gravy and was excellent
We did get some things taken care of today, and more sights enjoyed here in Gettysburg , Some sunshine and a relaxing afternoon was wonderful, Would love to come back again and check out more, so much to see here.
We back on the road in the morning moving a bit further south, just because we can.
Thanks for taking the time to drop on by. Hope you enjoyed your day as well.
