Where are we today ?

At 5 am it was 50 F outside and we had a very wonderful sleep.
Yesterday afternoon we went to the Lincoln Train museum and we both enjoyed the presentation here, only 5 dollars each for seniors , and we figured it was well worth the price.

Suzie and Abe |
We enjoyed a few videos on the way in and watched the funeral train display , that was interesting and enteratining.
Then into the simulated funeral train. Now this was cool. When the video began the train car rocked and rolled like real train, including the sound of the old steam engine and rough tracks on occasion .

Lincoln tell us some stories |
Now to check out the train displays, interactive and quite well done.
Now today, Thursday, we got up to frost on the car windshield ,
Our plan is to secure the coach and head down the road for 8 am to S & S Rv to get the vibration in our coach checked out.
Only 2 miles away and we were there . George took our coach into the shop and they began checking all the universal joints, hanger bearings. brakes and the differential, replacing the fluids as well., Everything looked good and no issues there, Glad that this was all checked out and now we (at least I ) can sleep better. We were out of there by 1 pm and our check book 5 hundred dollars lighter. But in our minds well worth it! For a peace of mind. We still have slight vibration but do not have a clue where it is coming from. But at least these issues have been checked out.
They have a nice dog here that loves Suzie (Zues) is his name a very playful guy he is.
|
loves Susie and wants to play |
|
pet me more please! |
Now at 9am and they are taking care of things in the shop so we headed on out to drive the rest of the Battlegrounds just because we had the time.
So many battle grounds and so many Battles fought here in 3 days The Confederates and the Union American soldiers and over 50,000 casualties . Such a tragic battle this was . So much blood shed.
|
we stopped here at this place to look out |
|
I climbed this tower for a view |
|
view of this battlefield from the tower |
|
this is the Pennsylvania memorial very impressive |
Mind you the memorials all through this area are amazing. In reality if we stopped to read every single one we would be here for a week or more. This driving tour is 24 miles long.
|
wagons and cannons everywhere |
Now to the Soldiers National Cemetery. A sobering place to see. This was also The site where Lincoln delivered the Gettysburg Address.
So many solders are buried here and so many unknown ones as well . most were buried by the state they were from . Like this one below.
This is one part of American History that we did not know about and really not sure what to think about it other than an awful lot of deaths of American soldiers. fighting for what they believed in.
We got back to our campsite just after 1 pm, And hooked up again, now to relax in the afternoon sunshine outside, Temps into the mid 60s. and some sunshine , This we can take, enjoy our e-readers and a nice Happy Hour.
|
it was very nice out here for a couple of hours relaxing in the sun |
Soon it was time for supper. So I preheated our oven heated up a couple of Cornish Pasties and some gravy to go with a tasty salad.
|
love these pasties |
|
little gravy and was excellent |
We did get some things taken care of today, and more sights enjoyed here in Gettysburg , Some sunshine and a relaxing afternoon was wonderful, Would love to come back again and check out more, so much to see here.
We back on the road in the morning moving a bit further south, just because we can.
Thanks for taking the time to drop on by. Hope you enjoyed your day as well.

at Rock Glen Family Resort ?
Where have we been this Winter?
Thanks for showing us around Gettysburg. We didn't stop there. It seemed all the campgrounds were booked on the weekend. I should have planned better.
ReplyDeleteThe Civil War was such a deadly one. So sad.
Hope the motorhome is running better. Do you think it might have been a wheel balancing weight that fell off?
This sure is one interesting place to visit too bad you missed it. They checked the wheels and it was not a wheel weight.
DeleteYes! Thanks for Gettysburg! I understand not planning better. That's usually me because I hate to make reservations. Sometimes I do and sometimes I don't. We've been in a pinch more than once because of it.
ReplyDeleteGlad to have you along, we seldom make reservations, we can always find a spot for a night or 2.
DeleteYou always keep finding new awesome adventures. Good job and thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteSo many interesting things to see and do we will never run out of options.
DeleteThe train museum looks interesting. Sure glad your repairs didn't amount to any major work.
ReplyDeleteThe train museum was interesting we enjoyed it. It was all checked over, so think it should be ok
DeleteThat train museum looks great, my dad would have been in his glory. Did the Gettysburg tour years ago, will have to do it again as I did not see all of it back then.
ReplyDeleteThe train museum was fun. So much to see here and the museum / visitor centre is an amazing display.
DeleteThis looked like a fun couple of days. The train museum and then Gettysburg. So sad, it would be hard to imagine those times with so many lives lost. Thanks for the tour.
ReplyDeleteIt was fun, very interesting and sad, glad that we could share it with you.
DeleteSo glad that your coach is ok George and Suzie. I remember how sad we felt when we visited Gettysburg.
ReplyDeleteWe feel better about the coach now. This is a sad experience but in our opinion a must see.
DeleteThose battlefield monuments are amazing ... and to think people want to take them down. Lots of fighting and dying went on there ....... so sad.
ReplyDeleteThey are all amazing, but to take them down I don't understand .
DeleteIt is very sad to realize what happened here.
Lots to see in Gettysburg and looks like you explored it well. I'd guess those Lionel trains are worth a buck or two. I think I've eaten all of the pasties I brought from the UP and wishing I had more.
ReplyDeleteLots to see here and we took our time seeing what we wanted. This trains are pretty pricey but fun to watch.
DeleteWe do love our Pasties always a nice treat.
That train museum sounds quite interesting but like you said it is sad that so many had to die.
ReplyDeleteHope your Vibration problem has been resolved. Our Bad Vibration Problem turned out to be a Bushing on a Front Stabilizer Bar.
Be Safe and Enjoy!
It's about time.
The museum was very nice.
DeleteThink the vibration is ok now, Bushings on the stabilizers have been replaced and are in good shape.
We have visited Gettysburg and you are right...so much to see it would take days to do it all. I’m glad you were able to stop and learn of this history even though sad!!
ReplyDeleteWe are glad that we did spend some time here and learn the history of this war.
DeleteGlad you guys enjoyed Gettysburg! There is so much to see there. Thee are several battlefields all over that are definitely worth a stop, but there is something special about Gettysburg. Abe Lincoln was always my favorite president when I was little. Remember getting a book about him when I was 5 or 6 for Christmas. :) Looking forward to where you go next :)
ReplyDeleteThere is so much to see and all the battlefields are hard to imagine. Still heading south a bit at a time.
DeleteIt always seems every time I take my RV to the shop it's a five hundred dollar bill. And they say boats are expensive to own! ;c)
ReplyDeleteAt least we can take our house there and have it checked out. Still lot cheaper than owning a house.
