Heck it was cold last night. Up as usual shortly after 4 ad was 45 f inside and 33 f out side losta frost on the car. But our Mr Heater got us toasty warm in no time, with the help of our furnace for about 10 minutes or so.
Then a very nice morning walkabout by 7am as the sun rises in the east over the mountains.

love the early sunrises |
After a quick trip to town for RO (reverse osmosis) water for drinking I finished up our soup and headed down to the Ramada (pavilion) check out the BLM presentations. I did the first two on the list below. And really enjoyed both. The first was some great information about the wildlife here in the desert. Wow I never knew about all these animals and what they did. Erica sure knew her stuff.

Erica was interesting |
Next on the agenda was Tom Jones, and he was an amazing story teller about the past in this area. Lots of great stories, funny and informative, sure glad that I was here. 3 more presentations but I wanted to get home to finish the soup and time for lunch anyway.

This is the soup mix we love so made a huge pot of it great for lunches. Nothing like a homemade soup.

This after noon we got some reading time in, I cut my hair and beard, and as usual Suzie does the final touches for me.
Then the usual "Happy hour" with our neighbours. Today at Bill and Patsy's. I felt guilty because I was in shorts and a t-shirt, everyone else bundled up like it was winter.Heck it was 55 f bright sunny skies and I was outta the wind, loved it. I was toasty warm until the sun begins to set about 4:30. time to head home any way.

Another great desert day enjoying the warm weather, sunny blue skies. Wide open spaces, amazing desert scenery, not humid and very little wind. Yup this is what we enjoy. Cold nights and warm days.
Thanks for taking the time to stop by.
Where have we been this Winter
Sounds like some informative seminars. I would imagine the animals of that area would be quite interesting to learn about. The sun sure makes a difference in how the temperature feels!!
ReplyDeleteThey were interesting and lots of information about the desert animals etc...
DeleteThe sunshine sure does make a huge difference,
I just used those exact beans in my ham and bean soup. Delicious.
ReplyDeleteWe attended Cowboy church at that pavilion a few years back. I would have been interested in all four presentations.
We do love these beans they make a very tasty soup. The presentations were excellent.
DeleteGeorge I think your body thermometer needs to be checked. Both you and Jim. It was not warm yesterday. Lol. We use those beans also.
ReplyDeleteI was fine in the direct sun and out of the wind, I enjoy it while I can. Love the beans .
DeleteGlad you enjoyed the BLM presentations. Definitely lots of life out there in the desert, you just need to keep your eyes open for it all, what with wildlife and plants. It sure helps when you know what to look for and what you are looking at.

It was very informative and worthwhile, getting to know more about the desert.
DeleteI've been wanting to try the 15 bean soup.
ReplyDeleteIt is very tasty and the recipe is on the bag.
DeleteLearning what to cook on your blog, George. I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to cooking. I think I'll try those beans. Look easy enough to cook.
ReplyDeleteThey are and the recipe is right on the bag.
DeleteDid Tom Jones sing some songs after his talk? :cD
ReplyDeleteHe actually started with "Its unusual" not very good but set the pace for a great presentation.
