Where are we today

Another good nights sleep and woke up to find it had rained most of the night and had cleared the snow from the roads. Ok, will be a good driving day and no more snow to shovel. After breakfast and a walkabout the block, we got all spiffied up, More presentable for the funeral service and celebration on Ma's life. It has been so long since I tied a tie almost forgot how. I did wear a suit for 13 years in an office job but that was a lifetime ago. Back in the 60's and 70's.yup we do clean up once in a while |
today's drive and the roads were all clean and good travelling |
Just a one hour drive to the funeral home in Whitby Ontario, and here with our family all 3 of my kids and 3 of our 7 grands. My brother, sister their spouses, nephew and his wife, a very good friend of mine Jim who we see each other not often enough (we went to public school together over 1/2 a century ago) and another good friend Bill and his wife that drove in from Montreal. Even 5 members of Suzie's family arrived, was nice to see them again as well. Along with so many other friends that I have not seen for many many years.
The celebration of Ma's life was wonderful , yes a few tears, a few eulogies and a few laughs as well, remembering Ma with some of good times that we had in our lifetimes. And all shared over the years.
We left the funeral home shortly after 3 pm and made our way back to the Toronto airport. Dropped the car off and they were nice enough to take us to our hotel (no charge) The Comfort Inn in Etobicoke. Check in here before 5 pm settled in our room and down stairs for a wonderful fish and chip meal with a caesar salad to start.
to bad did not bring swim suits a wonderful pool and spa here |

DeleteLooking good "spiffed up". Sorry to read about your Mom.
ReplyDeleteIt's tough to say good-bye, but I'm sure she lived a long and happy life, thanks to her family.
I'm pretty sure putting on a tie becomes second nature at some point if you've worn one long enough. Gets stuck in a feller's long term memory. Only thing I can't do is, tie a Windsor knot on someone else. Somehow doing it backwards doesn't work for me.
The young guys usually need help. Have to tie on my own neck and hand the tie over.
Looks like decent weather for the trip back south.
Thanks Bob, it is not easy to say goodbye but we did it, and went very smooth. I wore a tie for so many years, just had dig back into my memory bank and refresh it.
DeleteYes decent weather for today.
A fitting send off for your mom. Wishing you a seamless journey back to the land of sun, sand and sky.
