Wow a wonder full nights sleep we had. Nice and cool and so quiet. Mind you most of my nights are quiet when I take my hearing aides out LOL....
Got a short nice early morning walkabout done at 6:30, but was still kinda chilly in my shorts. 49f, So shortly after 8am I whipped to the grocery store for some milk and veggies. Then shortly after 9 am Suzie ready to explore the area with me for a while.
First the we gonna check out the London bridge that is famous for being moved here from London England in 1968.. click

Where have we been this Winter
My grandfather walked across London Bridge many times when it was in London. Don't think he walked it in Arizona... ;c)
ReplyDeleteKinda cool it is here and we can enjoy it.
DeleteHard to believe the guy moved the bridge all that way, but it seems to have had the desired effect.
ReplyDeleteIt sure did turn out pretty good at a total cost of only 5.1 million dollars.
DeleteHad to look that one up on the map. Yup, there it is. You can see London Bridge on Google Maps!
ReplyDeleteYes you can and very nice to see in person too.
DeleteFirst time I saw London Bridge in AZ was in 1996, In 1997 both od us went back there and since then several more visits have taken place. However, last time we were there we found that the little English Village at the bridge had fallen into disrepair and many of the little stores were closed up. In 1997 we were tenting along the lake and enjoying an hour-long swim in the lake. But that campground was gone when we returned years later.
ReplyDeleteThere was only a few shops here, but still pretty nice. Lots of campgrounds on the island and a few beaches. We first saw the Bridge in 2007 just a quick drive over, now we will check out the area a bit more.
DeleteThat was a good day spent visiting the sites in Lake Havasu. London Bridge is kind of interesting & so is the lake. Enjoy.
ReplyDeleteIt was a fun day, taking the time to check out the area.
Deleteanother bucket list item for us. How cool that the bridge was moved, boggles the mind. Looks like a nice place, I like the idea of the .99 store!
ReplyDeleteIt is worth the time checking out the area and the .99 store pretty good too.
DeleteI have to laugh because when they first bought London Bridge they actually thought London Bridge was the famous Tower Bridge in London so they were a little disappointed when it arrived but I guess it is still an attraction to many people. Glad you had a great day.

According to the info we got there in the pamphlet, it says and I quote " Contrary to popular belief Robert McCulloch was not under the impression he was purchasing the tower bridge" The video on how they moved and rebuilt it is mind boggiling.
DeleteLake Havasu is a very pretty area. We enjoyed the two days we spent there. The making of the lake is a very interesting story.
ReplyDeleteI used to collect candles and had some really cool and unusual ones. Some people are just so dang creative.
It is very scenic here we are enjoying our time.
DeleteSuzie used to collect candles as well, but not so practical in the motorhome.
Love that area! Always shop .99 cent stores very good veg. etc. etc.
ReplyDeleteNice to hear from you again, its been a while,
Deletevery good deals at that store.
Don't forget to visit Desert Bar on a weekend. 6 or 7 miles from Lake Havasu.
ReplyDeleteWe were there a few years ago and was amazing.
DeleteI'd have to look back to see when we were there.... but my memorable experience was being on a boat in the river and the ranger arresting a fellow who landed his ultra-light airplane on an island (Illegally) while we passengers were still in the boat. Wish I'd walked on it in London, but.... alas... no
ReplyDeleteThat would have been an interesting experience for sure.
