Where are we today ?
A wonderful Monday morning but no sun shinning and the wind came back at least its not too cold about 65f. So some more computing, coffees, exercises and walkabouts and decide what we can do today, enough taking it easy.
We have never been to Don Laughlins Riverside Resort and Casino and thought maybe we could check out their free car museum , I like old cars and we both like free. Plus its inside out of the wind.
Parked in the parking lot right behind this impressive looking Prevost motorhome obviously belonging to the The Oakridge Boys . They are playing here for about a week. We would have taken in the show but we did that just a couple years ago in Myrtle Beach.

The car museum is in two areas, a small collection at street level with some interesting vehicles and a large collection of antique slot machines, and a much larger collection of the third floor of the south tower. I won't bore you with a lot of car pictures here, but if you care to look the slide show at the bottom of this post has a lot more.
This custom bike is from the 1969 Movie Easy Rider with Peter Fonda and Dennis Hopper.

Now in both of these area there is some vehicles for sale, Antique cars for sale in the museum, very expensive collectors items and apparently a good investment. I just can't imagine the value some of these have, like this beautifully restored wagon below called the Marriage Trap that was used in the 1952 filming of "The Quiet Man" in Ireland featuring John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara.

Another vehicle here for sale is this one below 1964 Studebaker Avanti $65,000.
Well its was fun and informative and got us out walking about without the wind (exercise). This Casino is huge, the main floor is a maze of slot machines, restaurants, snack bars, theatres, gaming rooms and lounges overlooking the river. The second floor dance clubs and third floor the car museum. Then we drove around town checking out a few more sights and headed back home to think about making supper.
Earlier today I was reading a few other blogs and trying to come up with an idea for supper. And fish was on my mind. Well I came across E&R's Travels and she had just made her special fish dinner for friends, including the recipe. Now this looked like just what we needed so I put it together, fish filets, onions, cheese, clam chowder over a rice pilaf, absolutely, fantastic thanks for sharing Elaine.

Now after supper it got even more windy and we had a bit rain, barely enough to wet the ground, so we just snuggled in for the night. Thanks for stopping by.

ReplyDeleteWe have had potatoes for a few days and the rice was a nice change, Awesome dish either way I would think, next time will do potatoes.
Great post, love the old slot machines. Now I have to try Elaine's fish dish.

ReplyDeleteThe slot machines are all behind glass, hard to take good pictures. And yes the fish dish was awesome!
Enjoyed the tour, some neat looking cars and slot machines. Think we will try Elaine's fish dish both ways. Hope that wind goes away.
