Fri. Feb. 17th, Following the sun.

Thanks for joining us on our journey of North America
in our Holiday Rambler, since August 2006

Where are we today ?

A good nights sleeps and up early as usual watching the sun rise across the river in Arizona, its gonna be another nice day. Coffees, computing and a walkabout the resort and down by the river a nice way to start the day. Our Internet was slow today for some reason so over to the clubhouse I went to use the free, lightning fast wifi hot spot, and finish up the blog.

On my walkabout I noticed this broom handle tied to the back of a small rv with a metal strainer attached. Upon investigating realized it was a home made wifi booster, hey if if works!

This is our nice site facing the river with wonderful morning sun.

But went shopping in town for supper looking for a chicken deal and boy did we find one. We love our chicken and it is usually reasonably priced in the states here, but this was even better. 67 cents a pound for a 4.3 lb chicken. At Basha's the only grocery store in town.

Then cruise about town a bit on the way back I spotted not one but two 1956 Plymouths parked side by side in an old service station parking lot. I had to stop take a picture and reminisce about the1956 Plymouth that I had when I was 16. Bring back memories wow!

A quick story about 1956 Plymouth. I purchased it from a customer at the service station where I worked for one hundred dollars, it was 8 yrs old. The body in perfect condition he had driven the car back from California a year before. But the engine was in pretty rough shape. A friend of mine had located a rebuilt engine and transmission that we managed to sqeeze into this car. This engine was a 400 horsepower "Hemi", before the Hemi was popular. Wow what a monster of a car we created, 0 to 60 mph in 6 seconds, top speed way over the top. Very quick for an everyday car, except the gas mileage at 5 mpg (even with cheap gas back then) made it unaffordable to drive. And I sadly had to sell it and buy a more sensible vehicle. But boy sure had fun with it. I have picture of it somewhere.

Down the street a couple of shinny Toe Trucks, cute.

Now back home and its shortly afternoon. Our site is in total shade with a chilly breeze. This would be great site in the summer here when it reaches 120f or more. But right now we want the sun to take the chill out of that wind.

So talked to the manager and twenty minutes later we were one level higher, right behind where we were, facing west, no trees in the way and afternoon sun until 6 pm.  Much better now, we can sit out in the afternoon and be comfortable reading our books in the sun.
our new site, afternoon sun
Enjoying the rest of the day, until it was time to fire up our Weber once again to bake a couple of potatoes, season our chicken and place him directly on the grill.
ready to go
Close the lid for about 75 minutes, take his temperature (180f) and a perfectly done bbq'd chicken.
done
Now to finish this off I added some corn and broccoli and of course my Swiss Chalet dipping sauce. It was a huge bird for sure we will get at least two more meals out of this one.
love chicken
Now we can watch the sun set behind the hills thru our windshield, like this site mush better.

No we are not going to move back to get the morning sun,we will stick with the afternoon sun. Thanks for stopping by.

  2. I agree in that this time of year we don't necessarily want that shade. Give me the sunshine!
