Nice and warm a bit cloudy, met fellow bloggers and cooked our Turkey to share with friends .

Where are we today ?
clic a pic to enlarge it.
The Christmas day is done now we can finish winding down this year of 2017. Did get a nice walkabout the park as the sun began to warm things up, and when Suzie was ready about 8:30 we took a trip into Yuma for a few supplies. Back home before 10 and now to take it mostly easy for the rest of the day.
nice sunrise this morning
love the decorations on this site
After our shopping back home to putter around for a while then a nice tasty very light lunch. After lunch I hoped in the car for a short drive around the area. Today down the dirt road to the canal behind the LTVA area .  Just because I could, check things out and view the fence at the Mexican border on  the other side.
nice quiet road back to the canal
the canal right there, see the fence in the distance?
the fence all the way across the border
Back home I got to read for a while then inside to make some fresh Cranberry sauce for our Turkey I was grilling today.
I made this fresh Cranberry Sauce with Orange Zest, one of our favorites to to go with Turkey or Chicken, for the recipe Click HERE or my recipe blog top right side bar.
so easy to do and so very tasty

Yes we had a Christmas dinner yesterday with Turkey and ham plus all the stuff, but..
My plan was to cook up this 10.5 lb Turkey I picked up on sale the other day A great deal I could not turn down. It has been thawed out in our fridge for a couple of days so needs to be cooked. And of course because I can do up to a 12 lb bird on our Weber Q 100 this is the way it will be done. Rinsed it off rubbed with Olive oil and my spices all over it . Preheat the Weber about 15 minutes on high, turn down to about 1/3 heat set the Turkey on the grill and close the lid. Lid has to be closed tight and no peaking for at least a couple of hours, Internal temp by the thigh not touching the bone should be 180 F and done to perfection. Turkey on the grill about l:45 plow and slow really does the trick
now this was a great deal
Then at our usual Happy hour time 3 pm Bill and Patsy joined us and we had some people stop  by to say HI! Another rv couple from Alberta Canada  that are spending their first winter here in the southwest from Alberta, Dave and Cheryl also fellow Bloggers, Check them out HERE . Not sure if they should stop or not, but heck we outside anyway so at least stop and say hi!
Dave and Cheryl
They only wanted to stop and say hi, but with Bill and Patsy here we talked their ears off, exchanged some tips, pulled out a couple of chairs and they ended up joining us. Another super couple of friendly Rv'ers. We can all give then tips and share stories.but as usual the tips and things we do don't always work for them. Like we had said gather information and filter out the things that work for you. If it does not sound right check some more.
Eventually time to wrap up Happy hour, our Turkey about done taters soon be ready (garlic mashed) and the gravy to prep. Bill and Patsy were joining us  and they were bringing cooked carrots and dressing as well as and Apple crisp and Christmas cake that they had made.
turkey was perfect on our Weber Q
I let it rest for a while then carved it up
now this sure did the trick tonight,
and of course lots of leftovers
a pot of soup tomorrow
Happy campers we are
very tasty apple crisp
excellent Christmas  cake too
Thanks guys for the desert!
Then Suzie got a doggie fix with Clemson on her knee after supper.

Another fun desert day flew by again enjoying this wonderful weather, meeting new bloggers/rver's  and sharing a Turkey dinner with friends.
needed up a cloudy sunset, but sill a great day
Even now at 9 pm we are inside wrapping up this posting but still is 57 F  (14C) outside no complaints about that at all.
Thanks for stopping by and as usual hope y'all had a wonderful day too.

  8. Thanks for the description of BBQing the turkey. I have never made one on the BBQ but would like to try one day probably when we are RVing. Have you ever stuffed the turkey too or is it not advisable on the grill? The cranberry sauce you made I would like on chicken as well and on Swedish meatballs.

    1. Your welcome Marlene, love doing birds this way. Make most everything on our Weber Q. I don't like to stuff a turkey or chicken at any time it increases the cooking time and I personally don't advise it, but then each to their own. The cranberry sauce is wonderful with about anything especially with the orange zest in it really adds a lot of flavour.

    1. It was a wonderful day and more turkey is always welcome in our house. Low and slow wrks really wonderful on a Weber Q, But you need to keep the lid closed as much as possible. With the lid closed it works like and oven as soon as you open it to peak you loose most of that heat right away.
