Nice and warm a bit cloudy, met fellow bloggers and cooked our Turkey to share with friends .

The Christmas day is done now we can finish winding down this year of 2017. Did get a nice walkabout the park as the sun began to warm things up, and when Suzie was ready about 8:30 we took a trip into Yuma for a few supplies. Back home before 10 and now to take it mostly easy for the rest of the day.
nice sunrise this morning
love the decorations on this site
After our shopping back home to putter around for a while then a nice tasty very light lunch. After lunch I hoped in the car for a short drive around the area. Today down the dirt road to the canal behind the LTVA area .  Just because I could, check things out and view the fence at the Mexican border on  the other side.
nice quiet road back to the canal
the canal right there, see the fence in the distance?
the fence all the way across the border
Back home I got to read for a while then inside to make some fresh Cranberry sauce for our Turkey I was grilling today.
I made this fresh Cranberry Sauce with Orange Zest, one of our favorites to to go with Turkey or Chicken, for the recipe Click HERE or my recipe blog top right side bar.
so easy to do and so very tasty

Yes we had a Christmas dinner yesterday with Turkey and ham plus all the stuff, but..
My plan was to cook up this 10.5 lb Turkey I picked up on sale the other day A great deal I could not turn down. It has been thawed out in our fridge for a couple of days so needs to be cooked. And of course because I can do up to a 12 lb bird on our Weber Q 100 this is the way it will be done. Rinsed it off rubbed with Olive oil and my spices all over it . Preheat the Weber about 15 minutes on high, turn down to about 1/3 heat set the Turkey on the grill and close the lid. Lid has to be closed tight and no peaking for at least a couple of hours, Internal temp by the thigh not touching the bone should be 180 F and done to perfection. Turkey on the grill about l:45 plow and slow really does the trick
now this was a great deal
Then at our usual Happy hour time 3 pm Bill and Patsy joined us and we had some people stop  by to say HI! Another rv couple from Alberta Canada  that are spending their first winter here in the southwest from Alberta, Dave and Cheryl also fellow Bloggers, Check them out HERE . Not sure if they should stop or not, but heck we outside anyway so at least stop and say hi!
Dave and Cheryl
They only wanted to stop and say hi, but with Bill and Patsy here we talked their ears off, exchanged some tips, pulled out a couple of chairs and they ended up joining us. Another super couple of friendly Rv'ers. We can all give then tips and share stories.but as usual the tips and things we do don't always work for them. Like we had said gather information and filter out the things that work for you. If it does not sound right check some more.
Eventually time to wrap up Happy hour, our Turkey about done taters soon be ready (garlic mashed) and the gravy to prep. Bill and Patsy were joining us  and they were bringing cooked carrots and dressing as well as and Apple crisp and Christmas cake that they had made.
turkey was perfect on our Weber Q
I let it rest for a while then carved it up
now this sure did the trick tonight,
and of course lots of leftovers
a pot of soup tomorrow
Happy campers we are
very tasty apple crisp
excellent Christmas  cake too
Thanks guys for the desert!
Then Suzie got a doggie fix with Clemson on her knee after supper.

Another fun desert day flew by again enjoying this wonderful weather, meeting new bloggers/rver's  and sharing a Turkey dinner with friends.
needed up a cloudy sunset, but sill a great day
Even now at 9 pm we are inside wrapping up this posting but still is 57 F  (14C) outside no complaints about that at all.
Thanks for stopping by and as usual hope y'all had a wonderful day too.

Where have we been this winter ?

What a great day here, sunny and warm and reliving my restaurant days in the kitchen. Google problems ?

Where are we today ?

I am having issues with either blogger, or Google Chrome or Google, not sure what it is but my research is telling me a Google issue possibly ? I can't reply to comments on our blog or even make comments on other peoples blogs, which I like to do. Hopefully the problem will be resolved in the near future.

In the meantime much milder again last night and the campground is so peaceful. This is the time of year we really love. And we have full hook ups and free camping for 3 weeks, yahoo !
we really enjoy it here
This morning a short walkabout then a quick trip to the Foodland in Forest for a few supplies at 7:30 this morning. Nice that is open 24 hours a  day and a senior discount on Wednesday as well. Wanted to be back here for 9 am to help Melinda roast a couple of Turkeys (one 10 lbs the other 12 lbs) I got them ready to go in the electric roaster they have here. This is for the dart banquet tomorrow night. Turkeys done by 1 pm. I cooled them in the fridge and about 4 pm all carved and ready to reheat tomorrow. (I have done this for years in my restaurant and works wonderfully)if done right and is not dried out. We are also doing a spiral ham tomorrow that will not take long so we can relax for the social time at 5 pm and eat by 6pm.
morning view from our site
Then between the Kitchen time  enjoyed our e-readers in the shade, a bit cooler today but still weather for shorts and t-shirts.
from our  site we see the quiet side of a cabin
with nobody in it, wonderful
A bit later Tucker and his mum dropped by for a visit, Doggie fix and doggie kisses from Tucker.
Tucker gets a treat, small piece of chicken
Soon time for supper, gonna grill a couple "Wild Pacific Salmon Burgers" to add to our salad. so tasty and healthy.
not long on the Weber Q and sure  hit the spot
Comments from yesterday I can reply a bit here.
The membership parks work for us, but not everyone.
Hookups for us for 3 weeks is a luxury.
And we will enjoy it as the temperatures drop.
Patsy would be nice to see you and Bill again if you can make it.
Paul and Marsha we like this spot and if we can get it why not?
Larry we do make good use of our membership parks and works wonderful for us, saves a lot of money.

We still outside in the dark at 8:30 enjoying a not bad night at all. But soon to head inside after a fun day in the kitchen for me. Reliving my restaurant days. Tomorrow a bit more kitchen stuff then we gonna have a party. End of the year dart banquet, apparently more than 30 dart players will be there, sounds like a fun night.

Thanks for stopping by and checking us out, hope y'all had a wonderful day too.
