Where are we today ?
Buckhorn Ontario
A warm night again and this morning was getting quite hot outside by 7 am, but thats ok we can handle it. Supposed to be the hottest day so far this year 37c (98f) with humidity much hotter.
So, I got the early morning walkabouts done before it gets too hot, then a trip to Buckhorn for a few items.

nice campsites |
While cruising thru the village I noticed a few boats entering the lift lock here, #31 on the
Trent Severn waterway. Its always fun to watch these very expensive boats enter the locks and be lifted to the next level.

nice map |
After the shopping I picke up Suzie and we headed into the Farmer and Craft Market at the Buckhorn Community centre. Over 40 vendors here outside in the heat are a few and lots more inside the air conditioned hall.

Now back to the resort past the bear carvings on the way in and get to our nice shady site with a bit of a breeze. Yes we are in bear country.
Sitting outside was great, I did a lot of computer research today too, but at least was outside. A few people dropped by to chat and say welcome back then a short Happy Hour and fire up our Weber Q-100, throw on a couple potatoes to bake, some fresh mushrooms and onions, a bit of fresh broccoli then a very nice and tender prime rib steak.

oh so tasty |
After supper another visitor then read outside until its too dark about 9 pm back inside to post the blog and let the TV watch us.
Thanks for the read and hope you are enjoying this hot weather too.

We rented a houseboat for week one summer(this would have been about '96?) and tied up for the night in Buckhorn. Only problem was, we didn't realise there was a karaoke bar that was just a little too close. Bad enough if it had been a band, might have actually enjoyed that, but there was some horrid, horrid singing that we had to endure until about midnight. Gah.
ReplyDeleteCute little town though.
Yes a nice small village , and the bar is still there, right beside where you tie up for the night.
DeleteLove that part of the country. That canoe looks like a work of art. I would love to buy a raffle ticket on it. I remember the bears being carved last year.....they did a great job.
ReplyDeleteAn awesome canoe all hand made. The bears turned out great and still doing more.
