Sun. Sept. 18th, Mexico revisited..

Join us as we travel North America in our Holiday Rambler Vacationer,
 since August 2006

Up early and its sunny, coffees, computing and walkabouts then, its such a great morning I was able to inspect and touch up some caulking on our coach. This done, a bite to eat for lunch then we are off to visit Warren and Joyce, managers of Tres Amigos Rv Park in Mazatlan Mexico. We met then when we stayed there for two months in the winter of 2009-2010. They happen to live about 35 minutes from Galvin Bay resort so we got in touch with them and made a day trip to visit.

Just south of the resort we are going thru Lakefield and in the centre of town a bunch of horseback riders are on the lawn of the library, not unlike Mexico.

Mexican traffic
Now a short way out of town we come to an intersection to take hwy 28 south to their place. Traffic is stopped, police cars, fire trucks, tow trucks, ambulance and a few wrecked cars, blocking the road. Hope there is nobody seriously injured.

We were advised to turn around go back to river road head south and take any road east back to hwy 28. Good thing was we were only driving the car, bad thing was we did not bring our GPS. Well we headed south on river road turned left on the first road, a rough dirt road, not on the map ( just like Mexico) and we drove and we drove eventually we ended back on river road much further south. No landmarks and no place to stop for directions so we just keep driving. A lovely scenic drive along the river past a few lift locks, by now we are entering Peterborough, not where we want to be. Finally we stop and ask for directions got straightened around and headed back on track. We finally arrived at there place about 1 hour 40 minutes later, a long 35 minute drive but very scenic.

We were greeted by Warren and Joyce (later than we wanted) but just like in Mexico, we will get there when we get there. So sitting inside chatting and getting caught up with a happy hour we had a great afternoon. Sitting inside in September because they have a larger home. In Mexico we are almost always outside just because its so nice and we have smaller homes.

They gave us a nice tour of the resort, mostly all seasonal and permanent sites but very nice setting. Comparing travel notes and experiences and updates on Stone Island in Mexico, then we had an extremely tasty roast beef dinner, with mashed potatoes, turnip, gravy and yummy pumpkin pie for desert.

Well before we know it, the time flew by and its getting late, almost dark and I really don't like driving after dark especially thru the bush when animals may roam the roads, (like Mexico). So we said our goodbyes promising to get together again and maybe see each on on the road somewhere down the road.

        Thanks for dropping by.

  1. Thanks for sharing Mexico and your visit with Joyce & Warren. Like us they prefer waterfront lots! Looking forward to seeing them in early November. Why don;t you join us, I'll even make you dinner. How about coconut shrimp?

The coconut shrimp sounds awesome, but not sure if we can make it this year, we have other plans we are trying to put together and Mazatlan would be a long way out of our way.
