Very warm sunny day, satellite success and just enjoying the desert scenery

Where are we today ?

Just another day in paradise and we loving it. Up again too early but I am good at that. As the sun began to rise I headed out for my first walkabout, at 7 am, 2 miles  before 8 am feels good. And the rising sun and blue skies are heating things up nicely.
this site had a nice train display
As I headed out this is the almost sunrise we enjoyed below.
looking to the east
looking  west sunrise on the mountains , love it
Was in shorts, t-shirt and sandals by 11 am. At 9:30 this morning our new friend Bill from Canada came by to show me the way to their campsite to set up their Star choice dish. Dish was set up and  levelled, I changed to the proper settings.  First the cable hookup did not work so we moved the cable direct inside to his receiver.  Then try as we might could not get a signal. Ok plan B get our receiver from home and hook it up. Yahoo, we have a good signal. Now hooked his back up again and first message said he needs a receiver refresh.  Ok not much more I can do, I will let them be and hopefully the refresh will do the trick. It has been unplugged for over a month so think that may be the issue. If not I can't help him, and not giving them our receiver! Even though he did buy us a dozen Bud Light that we enjoy. Thanks Bill and Terry. They stopped by this afternoon and after their refresh they now have all their channels and satellite dish is working again. So glad that they now have it working again they have seasonal site and here for the winter. We will enjoy the beer thanks again guys.
love seeing these Saguaros here in the desert
Now time for a light tasty lunch, Then I took a short drive to the Why Not store ( too hot to walk now) not far from here just cause I could to check it out, Pretty well the same interesting place to stop into. Not much else here anyway.
restrooms
love this old truck here too
water pouring out of it
yes we are here
the Why not store
Back home it was 75F and this very intense sun here is brutal. Needed our awning deployed for a while just because we could
we do need some shade
Most of our neighbours are  gone so we are almost by ourselves again, perfect !
so peaceful here
Back into our page turners again. I finished a J.A, Jance novel on my Kobo and started the next one in this series.
another page turner for me
I did a couple more walkabouts between reading and caught a picture of this rainbow, below even though we had no rain, guess somebody did?
a nice desert rainbow
Later on it was time to whip up supper so I made a salad, preheated our Weber Q and grilled a HUGE boneless skinless chicken breast on our grill mat with the sun setting and another wonderful desert sunset it was.
Not too long for this chicken breast on the grill mat, put some very tasty Bourbon BB sauce on it and was yummy, will need some more of this sauce for sure!
Much more than we could eat, split this breast and more leftovers for some tasty lunches.
so moist, tender and juicy
we both enjoy this
After supper taking the garbage out I enjoyed a wonderful desert walk under a clear starlit evening. Another thing we love about the desert. No light pollution and amazing starlit nights.
Now our day almost done, gonna relax in front to the Tv in my wonderful very comfortable new recliner and try to stay awake long enough to watch a show with Suzie, If not she will wake me to go to bed.
Hey, thanks for dropping on by today, we are living the dream and love every minute of it.

The heat wave came back, helping a friend set up her satellite dish and enjoying this weather. Also fixed our airconditioner control again

Where are we today ?

A bit warmer last night but we good with the bedroom windows open and the fantastic fan pulling in a nice cool outside temperature. After a late dart night slept in until 6 am. Enjoying this warm weather and another hot one we will have today.
Did get a few nice walkabouts  before it got too warm then puttered around for a bit. Washed the bugs off the front of our coach and gave it another coat of wax. Then polished the headlights on our car and coach again, just because I can and only takes a few minutes anyway.
right side almost done left side next
this works really well , Walmart in the states
only 10 bucks
just like new again
This taken care of, I walked over to visit a fellow camper here, Connie. She is not getting all the channels on her Shaw satellite dish. I check things out and looks like a tree branch has grown and is in the way. So I temporarily moved the dish and wow much better reception and most of her channels have returned. Darn trees keep growing and get in the way ! She happy and me happy solving this problem. I do love to solve these problems if I can.
Then we enjoyed a light tasty lunch. Another walkabout and started another book, Getting pretty warm so not much physical activity this afternoon.
getting warmer so a reading in the shade works for us
feeling like 100 F soon
I read this short book in about an hour and always enjoy her books.
A bit later thought maybe turn on our air conditioner. OOPs once again the thermostat is not working.  We have had this problem a few times over the years, and I know an easy fix. To repair the whole system is well over a thousand dollars, but this works just fine .
Nothing worked the way it was supposed to to, so I take it apart and spray it with electronic cleaner , let it sit for an hour or so and put it back together. So far this this has been working for the last 10 years.
take it apart
spray the controls with this does the trick
While waiting for this to work back outside in the shade and read some more. Pretty nice out here in the shade with a light breeze .
another Karen Slaughter book this be a full novel
yup this is the life
Suzie sitting back there, more shade and more breeze
5:30 pm still hot and now the A/C is working again
Soon time to begin supper , so I preheat our Weber Q 100 , and whip up a salad. I put these mediterrain kabobs on our grill mat . Picked up a package yesterday for $3;99 thought there was 2 but ended up there was 3. Ok we will have leftovers .
not long and these were done to perfection
very tasty with our salad works for us and yup I only ate one.
lunch tomorrow
Dishes done and back outside in the shade enjoying this wonderful peaceful campground, Finish this posting out here and read bit more before heading inside for the night. Our A/C is working fine still, so will be quite comfy inside for tonight,
Thanks for stopping by for a peek and hope y'all enjoyed your day as well.

Helping friends, making sausage rolls and enjoying this wonderful very warm sunny day.

Where are we today ?
clic a pic to enlarge it
Gonna be a hot day so got a few nice early walkabouts before it gets too warm, Then at 9 am over help Dianne and Don with their Shaw satellite dish. No problem there all done in less than 30 minutes , works good and they happy.
Now home to whip up a double batch of sausage  rolls with puff pastry, that we are taking to the Stere family reunion tomorrow in Tavistock. Suzie's Family. It is pot luck at 1 pm this day every year. I only did 6 dozen of these, there is so much food no one will go hungry. Usually around 200 people there so no problem . For the sausage rolls in puff pastry recipe click HERE or my recipe blog top right side bar.
first batch ready for the oven
not long and we  have 2 batches made 72 sausage rolls for tomorrow
when they are done they are done tomorrow.
Now after this done a  nice light lunch and enjoy this wonderful  warm/ hot weather ours temps only got to 94 f (34C) but we had a nice light breeze, a perfect day for us and not too humid as long as we don't do too much work. And that does not happen much any more for us in the afternoons. We do our stuff early mornings.
what a perfect afternoon to read in the shade
Now because we doing this reunion tomorrow  Suzie thought it a good idea I have a shower and trim my beard and my hair, Heck she wants me to look presentable, hmm go figure. She even spent extra time to trim my hair and beard. wow am I ever pampered!  I may even have to put on some nice clothes too. And even a different hat.  Nobody gonna know me then. But guess that's ok,
We had out own quiet Happy Hour , guess our friends want air conditioning. Not for us we like the fresh air outside and breezes.
Soon time for our Weber Q to grill a fresh Turkey Breast, gonna try it on our grill mat and seems to work wonderful leaves grill marks and will help  to keep our grill clean. Think I will try it on a few more meals to see how it performs.
about an hour turkey breast was done to perfection
While it was cooking  for a while then I whipped  up a salad too go with it.
sure was tasty and lots of leftovers as usual lunches
and soups in the near future
Now to enjoy a wonderful very warm evening outside in the shade with a nice breeze, post this blog and enjoy some more quality reading time. Does it get much better than this? Think not.
Hope y'all had a great day too. And thanks for stopping on by.

Helping Gerry clean their new to them trailer and enjoy more amazing weather. And another party tonight !

Where are we today ?

Just more wonderful weather here, how did we get so lucky ? Nice morning walkabouts and a quick jaunt to the store in Forest home by 9 am , no where to go now for the day, just putter around. An early lunch then helped Gerry give their (new to them Trailer) a good wash, starting with the roof and all the way down, including the awning. It is only 4 years old but has never gone to far. They bought it and the pickup truck to tow it from a couple members here that decided to hang up their keys. He just had it all checked out, brakes, lights, new tires and and soon ready to go. They want to head south this winter, (first time with an rv) and are looking so forward to it. If we can help them out we will.
They have been checking things out and gave them a few pointers from our experience so they will be soon  ready to go shortly after we head south.

Nice time chatting with friends

Supper done and cooling down, we were invited to go to the clubhouse for "Lucky Thirteen" have never been but is a celebration of a few birthdays here in the park, Suzie has her's on Sunday but nobody knew. But heck guess we will go just for the fun of it. As if we need more fun? Life is short so we can make exceptions once in a while, if there is a celebration here in the park why not?
Head down about 7:40 and sat with Bob and Mary who we ave known for the 10 years (Bob is 88) we have been coming here. This "lucky Thirteen' is actually a pretty easy fun game cost $2:25 each(3 nickels, 3 dimes, 3 quarters and one dollar) to play and the winners can clean up pretty good. With the small crowd tonight the final winner won $22.00 and we actually enjoyed it. Not noisy and not competitive.

nice cake made out of cupcakes
4 of the 5 Birthday people made it, Bob with the hat
We celebrated the birthdays with a huge Cupcake cake and a glass of wine. What a fun time. Finally home just before 10 pm finish up this posting and call it a night. After 3 busy days here, wow, looking for some quiet ones soon, maybe after the weekend.
      Thanks for stopping by again.
