A very good travel day. Not many more until we back home.

Where are we today ?

Another good sleep and up at 5 am 53F very nice.  Got the coffee etc taken care of then a walkabout the parking lot and the store checking out a few things. Then back home for another coffee, and back to Walmart to fill our jug of RO drinking water, picked up a few groceries, and back home again. We secured the coach checked tires and lights, then on the road at 8 am no real rush only 278 miles was our plan but changing another time zone, so will loose an hour.
Hopped on I 70, and I  74 smooth sailing all the way no wind, no rain, no heavy traffic, no tornadoes a perfect travel day. Made our way across Illinois, and into Indiana welcome centre where we stopped, got some nice walking and leg stretching done, made a bite to eat for lunch. Then after 30 minutes or so back on the road.
a nice welcome centre time to stop and make lunch
We took the southern bypass around Indianapolis, and arrived at the Spiceland  Flying J. A place we have stayed many times when coming through this area. Arrived here at 1:15 pm (2:15 pm) now, we are back on Ontario time again, fuelled our coach and got a nice parking spot here. Hope better than last year this is the place where we had the hit and run accident at 4:30 in the morning pouring rain then. You can read about that happening by clicking the link HERE on April 3rd last year.
a very good travel day
Set up and scanned the tv channels, and of course I go into the Flying J and check out STUFF, just because I like to. Relaxed for a while reading , enjoyed our Happy Hour. More walking about enjoying the fresh warm air, hey it is 66F loving it! And of course love the smell of the diesel and trucks, brings back memories of my days with the bus company back in  the 60's and 70's.
we parked right here
love to see these trucks coming and going
and Suzie is familiar with them as well
we right here for the night no reefer in this truck so
will be quiet on a warm night.
saw this under his trailer, wonder what it is?
Eventually time for supper and we decided an easy chicken cordon blue I picked up at Walmart this morning heated in our oven with our usual salad, just because we can.
This sure hit the spot and we both enjoyed it a nice rare treat we have not had for a while.
tasty it was
across the road is the Spiceland water tower
not much of a sunset tonight but interesting
We had a very nice travel day, now to relax after a tasty supper, and enjoy another movie we have on DVD, Yard sale stuff that we have.  A nice short travel day tomorrow.
Hope you enjoyed your day as much as we did and thanks for dropping on by.
only 278 miles today

Weather is good and another nice travel day, in no real hurry.

Where are we today ?
Flying J Spiceland Indianna
clic a pic to enlarge it
A good night's sleep at Walmart some highway noise, does not bother us anyway, and taking our time this morning. Did not pull out until 8 am really no hurry. Just going 273 miles on a very good travel day. Sunshine, no rain and very little wind that bothered us.
So hopped on I-70 east and rolled through Terra Haute then Indianapolis, no issues at all. Pretty smooth sailing.
We stopped at all the rest areas for a good stretch and walkabouts, (one was closed completely) enjoying the sunshine. The Indiana Welcome centre was quite nice but the facilities closed (no water). Not a problem for us we have our own facilities. We stopped at one yesterday, same issue, closed no water.
Too bad the visitor centre was closed
love the green grass
we parked there beside the orange truck
Passed this HUGE cross we have seen many times before
another rest area to stretch at
nice to see the daffodils
colorful tree blossoms
AND dandelions, would not be spring without them
Easy drive through Indianaplos , very little traffic
We arrived at the Flying J, Spiceland Indianna to top up our fuel tank, at 1:30pm but now on the Eastern time zone so actually 2:30 pm. That's enough driving for today. What's the rush and the weather is wonderful. Sunny and 65f outside. We just pulled into an RV parking spot and settled in. I enjoy the fresh air, and exercise  walking about here check out the trucks and browse the Flying J store. Nothing we needed but like to look at stuff. Looked at the foods and Denny's but prefer  to make our own supper tonight. We have the food and facilities so will use them.
nice large RV parking spots here, 11 of them.
While sitting  here we did some people watching as well, that's always fun. Few people exchanging children and this other guy, picking up some small Weiner pigs into the back of his truck. Interesting.
picking up small pigs
Soon time for supper so tonight we craved a couple of fish burgers that we really enjoy. Usually done on our Weber Q but can do them in a fry pan as well. I picked up a small container  of potato salad that Suzie craved, and added small salad for me.
fish burger and salad sure did the trick tonight
That was our fun travel day. Stop early, relax, fresh air walkabouts and enjoy a tasty supper. Works for us.
Thanks again for stopping on by.
273 miles today

Where have we been this Winter

Heading a bit further northeast and still wonderful weather.

Where are we today ?
Flying J Indianapolis, Indiana.
Up early this morning and just puttering around, coffee's and walkabouts no real rush. Heading for the Flying J in Indianapolis, they have a few nice rv parking spots, away from the trucks and the pumps.
saw a robin this morning on my walkabout
We all secured and pulling out at 8:40 am after saying so long to our friends here. Perfect driving day, sunshine and warm, shorts and t shirts. Just dawdling along, stopped at a few rest areas to stretch and fuelled up at the Flying J in Effingham Il. Right a lunch time, so a nice treat for ourselves, 2 large fresh pizza slices $5.00 for both, (good deal) probably our last until next winter.
323 miles today
Then just carried on down the road with very little traffic and just a few slight wind gusts here and there. We forgot all about the time zone change until we got to Indiana, so instead of arriving at 3:30pm it was actually 4:30. Now at least we are in the same time zone as Ontario now.
this guy in front of us had a whole lawn on his trailer
Found our perfect parking spot again here at the Flying J, away from the pumps and the trucks. A walkabout here then fired up our propane oven to heat up a spaghetti casserole I prepared last week and froze.
Then while the oven was, on baked a up a small package of Pillsbury biscuits to go with it.
Managed to read for a bit and check emails. Windows open and nice breeze but still in the high 70's at 6:30pm, love it.  Down to 48f tonight great for sleeping.
our perfect parking spot
the trucks are very far away
Soon supper was done and really hit the spot, sure beats, any restaurant food by a long shot. Oh, and very inexpensive.
hot fresh and tasty
That was our perfect travel day, no need to rush, lets relax for the night, then down the road a bit tomorrow and we will hang out for a few more days at a nice spot in Ohio, before heading into the "Great White North" .
Thanks for stopping on by to see where we are, enjoying this great rv lifestyle. Always new places (or even a few repeats that we enjoy) and even some new faces, never know who we meet on the road.

Alliance Ohio to Indianapolis Indiana and run into friends at a Flying J

Where are we today ?
We had a good nights sleep last night, taking it easy this morning, coffees and computing then said thanks to Janice and Laurie as they headed out to work at 7:40 this morning. No rush, we like to wait until 9 am, turn the coach around and hook up the car, miss the morning traffic.
actually had to scrap the ice from the car windows
 this morning
Another great travel day and a fairly long one for us 325 miles 6 hours just cruising along. Like to stop at most the rest areas for a few minutes stretch our legs. Made lunch at one about noon.
325 miles 6 hours
leaving Ohio
welcome to Indiana
We arrived at the Flying J on the south west side of Indianapolis about 3:30pm fueled up our coach and secured a nice RV parking spot for the night. Against the grassy area and are able to open our slide. Think this has to be one of the nicest Flying J's we have parked at for the night.
Oh and gas for our coach here was $3.06 a gallon = .81 cents a litre. Compared to about $1.25 a litre in Ontario right now.  Put in 44 US gallons= 166 litres. We saving more money about $73.00 we saved on this fill up alone. We have to spend some to save some but sure is nice to make this winters travels much less expensive.
nice quiet spot for the night
As we were getting ready for supper, noticed this 5th wheel pull in, looked familiar. They turned their trailer around and drove by again! Hmm, Rob and Debbie that were members at Rock Glen resort in Ontario and we have not seen them for over two years. So out we go to say hi and the other coach parked right behind us was friends of theirs from Alberta Canada that we saw in pull into Rock Glen Resort a day before we left there three weeks ago. Now is this a small world or what? Meeting at a Flying J parking lot in Indiana.
Rob, Debbie, Cara, Bryan and Suzie
there we are three in a row
So we chatted and chatted but then time to eat so headed on home and whipped a tasty meal for us. Suzie's leftover fettuccine alfredo with shrimp and scallops and some of my prime rib from sunday. Added a tossed salad, broccoli and a fresh bun really hit the spot.
That was it for another fun travel day, stop early relax have a tasty supper, blog a bit and watch the tube for a few minutes, sure do love this lifestyle.
Thanks once again for stopping on by, hope you had an awesome day too!
this be our plan for tomorrow

Wakarus Indiana to Davison Michigan a great day

Thanks for joining us on our journey of North America
in our Holiday Rambler, since August 2006

Where are we for two nights ?

A very quiet night and a good sleep here at the Holiday Rambler service centre. They could not fit our repair into their schedule while we were here (we did not have an appointment). But not a big deal nothing is broken and we got two free nights camping with full hook-ups, a factory tour and a tour of the RV Hall of Fame as well, we like free!

This morning a nice walkabout the parking lot (resort), love the scenery, a farmers field, makes us feel like we are at home!
behind our rv
Shortly after 9 am we hit the road, some back roads, some interstate, some rain, a good uneventful  day to travel.
215 miles
Only 215 miles today but more than enough. We arrived shortly after 1 pm and pulled in to Lake Shore Resort in Davison Michigan. This is another one of our membership parks that we have never been to. We like the fact that we have to pay no overnight fees. (we could stay for two weeks twice a year but only have two nights to spare). Did I say they have real good free wifi too!
entrance to the resort
We were welcomed at the gate and told to find a site (any site we  want) set up then register at the store. So we drove around a bit and settled for a nice site that suited our purpose. They have 400 sites to choose from!
beach, playground
more beach
mini golf

more mini golf
Once set up I registered at the store and drove about a bit more.
store
They have two domes here with clubhouse, events happening, indoor pools, hot tubs and saunas. Activities happening so much going on and kids everywhere, they are having a ball !
two domes
basketball and tennis courts
rental cabins everywhere
rv sites on the two lakes here
more cabins across another lake

we picked a quieter area
our nice huge site
Then we can relax outside in the sun for a couple hours with our books. It was actually about 74f so quite comfortable. Set up our Weber Q 100  and fired it up for supper. We even got to see our first Robin this spring right here too, just wonderful!
Hi Robin
Settled in now and relax for a couple days (we are only 3 hours from home) but don't like to rush you know. This is so nice, the BBQ'd meal tonight is a couple of pork chops, potatoes with onion, carrots in foil with a little butter, soo tasty.
yep its all good
I know we will enjoy it here, just wish we could stay longer!

Glad you could stop by for a visit! Come again anytime.
