Albuquerque to Truth or Consequences, warmer weather and an amazing state park !

Where are we today ?
We up early and anxious to get on the road today. Just waiting for the sunrise, warmer temps and after rush hour, cause we have to go through Albuquerque. Got a few walkabouts done, secured the coach, hooked up the car and on the road at 9 am.
Not much traffic now, and wonderful clear skies
No problems, through the city and onto I-25 south to Elephant Butte State park just outside of Truth or Consequences (T or C) it will now be called.
perfect travel day, sunshine warm temps
 and next to no traffic
We passed an Army Convoy heading south , so cool to see all these Humvees in formation.
Only a 3 hour drive and got to the city of Elephant Butte by 11:30 added some fuel to our coach then onto the State park.
Checked in here before noon only $14.00 US a night with 30 amp and water, what a good deal. No sewer but they do have a dump staion. We could have dry camped for $10.00 a night but thought 3 nights would be nice here so the extra $4.00 a good deal for us and Suzie happy.
The next 4 pics are some dry camping sites for $10.00 a night, they are amazing! Actually this whole park is amazing, wish we had found out about it sooner, maybe we stay a few more days? Undecided right now.
$10.00 a night
all the sites have a wonderful view
This is the area we choose, first come first served sites.
Huge site
the view over the lake out our front window
It's really hard to read here with this amazing view, but we did managed to enjoy a nice shady spot  and our e-readers for a couple hours. Much warmer here.
Why would we want to leave ?
Sunshine , blue skies, 2,000 feet lower elevation and about 70f this afternoon, an amazing view, what more can we ask for?
New Mexico Clear blue skies
On the way here our electric step broke again! Hmm. 3rd time now, I do have a repair to do some time in the future, but can make it work for now. We have some time in sitting for a while when I can to do this.
wooden supports to hold it open
Supper tonight a Cornish Hen,(we love these) only $2.95 here about $8.00 back home.  Perfect size for the 2 of us.
While the hen is cooking another nice view across the lake
hen done and some grilled yellow pepper
add to a salad and we have a very tasty meal
Wish we could have found this state park sooner, so much to see and do in this area and the view is amazing.
166 miles today a very nice drive
If your are coming this way this state park is a must do, very reasonable and one of the nicest we parks we  have ever been at. Definitely will be back here again.
Thanks for stopping by, always enjoy your comments, hope you had a wonderful day too.

  2. I have always stayed at the Monticello unit up to the north a few miles. Much quieter and closer to the Apache Kid Wilderness area. That whole area is full of fun desert to explore. The Rock House on the north end of EB Lake was a neat day trip also.

  4. That's the kind of camp I would love. With the view of the sand and water, no close neighbours and the price is excellent! Lovely, enjoy!

  6. I think New Mexico has some great state parks. We've always loved Pancho Villa in Columbus (south of Deming).

  8. We spent a month in that area and loved it. We stayed in an RV park because they offered such a good deal. Would really like to get back there again.

  12. While you're in the area you might want to check out Chloride, 40 miles too your west. Also if you need a mechanic I strongly recommend Chip Baker.

Mechanic is nice to know, but I can fix the step myself, have done it a couple times before.
