Join us as we travel North America in our Holiday Rambler Vacationer, since August 2006
A beautiful bright sunny morning today, warm and clear blue skies. A walkabout this morning, checking out a nieghbours HUGE satellite dish and finishing our coffees, no rush today just a 2 and 1/2 hour drive then into the Western Horizon Resort in St. David for two weeks. We have been this way a few times and the desert scenery still amazes me, enchanting may be the word I am looking for. Warning signs for dust storms, zero visibility, scenic rest areas, vast areas of desert and mountains, just waiting for the Cowboys and Indians to come riding over the ridge. Then a sign telling us this is Cochise Stronghold where I envision a turf battle among the Indians and the white man over 120 years ago.
We usually stay at Valley Vista resort in Benson AZ, but we waited too long to book our site, its a very popular resort. But St. David is only 5 miles down the road so we got in there. Next to Valley Vista is a service station called Junction Express that we discovered 4 years ago has Genuine Broasted Chicken. Well we have their phone number so called them from 20 minutes away to order a small bucket of fresh cooked chicken (the best way to have it) with some fries and coleslaw. We pulled up in front with our coach and was greeted by the same two friendly women who have been here every time on our twice a year visit. Right there in the parking lot we really enjoyed this mouth watering lunch we have been waiting for quite a while. The closest we have had to this was at Anna Mae's Bakery and Restaurant in Millbank Ontario a Mennonite owned restaurant 2,500 miles away from here.
Now with full tummies down the road to St. David Arizona a small town of with a population of about 1,800. We checked in the resort, set up on our site and enjoyed some afternoon sunshine and warm temperatures. Chatting with neighbours beside us from Quebec and another couple from Winnipeg Manitoba.
I then made a quick into the village post office to check for a parcel and it had arrived. A couple of weeks ago I had cleaned our roof vent covers and noticed that the plastic dome on over Fantastic Fan was cracked. So I checked their website to see where I could purchase a new one. A week ago I sent an email to customer service for information on this and promptly received a reply asking for our mailing address and phone number, they would ship a new dome out free of charge! I sent them the address for general delivery in St. David and it was here less than a week after we ordered it. Now thats customer service, our fantastic fan is 11 years old! I have heard about their good customer service now have experienced it first hand.
Now after such a great day we relaxed a bit to watch some tv with popcorn and an apple for supper, not real hungry after our satisfying lunch. Thanks for stopping by.
