nice sunset
With a nice sunny morning we got ready and were on the road by 8:30 am, just taking our time today. Only 250 miles to Deming New Mexico a nice relaxing drive. We just love desert scenery good roads, flat land with mountains and desert all rolled into one. We stopped at a rest area to stretch our legs a bit and enjoyed the fresh air and warmth. Not many rest areas still open (US budget cuts). T shirt, shorts and sandals again, so nice. There is a few areas, driving thru a canyon, where the wind gust warning signs are bold and accompanied by wind socks, to alert you which direction the wind is blowing. Very handy when you are driving an rv, slow down and hang on!

We passed by the city Truth or Consequences and learned it is a Spa City with natural hot springs and renamed the city after the popular tv show in 1950. A bit past here we noticed a lake to our east (strange to see in the desert) and with a bit of research found it was the Elephant Butte reservoir on the Rio Grande River, which runs from Colorado all the way to the gulf of Mexico. Now a bit further down I-25 at Hatch (known world wide for their bountiful chili crops), we see a sign that saws shortcut to Deming, so away we go, a good two lane paved road thru more hills and nice scenery.

We arrived in Deming  a nice scenic southern New Mexico city. Drove around a bit with our coach towing the car, sightseeing, a bit of shopping, and also trying to locate the rv park we were looking for. We had time and enjoyed the drive, checked into the Road Runner rv park and set up on a pull thru sight. It was kinda a gravel parking lot but we had full hookup including cable tv and free wifi. And we are only here for the night. After a quick setup I proceeded to clean the bug residue from the front of our coach and windshield, they were pretty bad today. A walkabout the resort and I chatted with a neighbour just pulled in from Thompson Manitoba for a while. Back home to assemble a tasty meatloaf, creamy mashed potatoes and sweet corn for supper then relax a bit with a nice sunset from our dining room window.
