Merry Christmas Carols ! Car fixed, small world around here too.and Special posting for me !

Where are we today?
Stratford Ontario

Wow what a nice surprise last night. I had finished yesterdays; posting about ready to soon call it a night after 8 pm meds. Shift change for the nurses. They always come in a greet me and tonight asked if I want some Christmas Carollers to drop by , they are doing the rounds.
What a great group and nice surprise
nice hand made Christmas Cards
We heck ya, love Christmas Carols and how often to they come and visit right into my room. What a treat. So in they came 12 of them and sang a couple of nice Christmas songs, and of course "We wish you a Merry Christmas" on the way out and down the hall to another room. They gave me  2 Christmas cards and was told this is a local group of 60 ! They are called the "Stratford Gems" children that do this around the Stratford  area.  How wonderful and fulfilling, sure do love small towns.

I had a decent sleep last night off and on. At midnight Renee my nurse came in to give me my meds and found me reading my KOBO. then she sat and chatted for a while and asked how come? Some times I  have a piece of toast with peanut butter and some milk helps . So she got some` for me. And before I knew it was back to sleep again. What a great staff they have here.

About 4, am awake for the day, so get comfy blogging and reading, coffee and juice. I know Suzie will be getting ready later to take the car into Pettigrew's garage to get the heater fixed, visit at Shakers Restaurant in town  for a coffee. SIL Sandy while waiting for the car. Pettigrews found leaves blocking the vent and thermostat not working. Flushed the cooling systems and new coolant,  That taken care of by 11 am, she went back to the apartment to rest for a bit then here to visit.
lotsa leaves blocking the vents
I hopped in the wheel chair cruised around for a while, chat with the cook in the Kitchen some. The car and heater all taken care of is a wonderful thing. I cold have done it if I was not here. At noon Micheal the cook dropped off my lunch for me personally , what a treat, Tuna sandwich plus a bit on vanilla ice cream with chocolate sauce, sure hit the spot. thanks Micheal !

Shortly  after lunch I had a surprise  visitor, a lady I don't think I have met she is a volunteer here in the kitchen. If you follow other bloggers you may know Patsy " Chillin with Patsy" well this is her husbands sister Bill Richards   now is that a small world or what !!!!
Bill's sister Carol.
We chatted for quite a while. Then Suzie came in from home I caught up with her and she met Carol as well, then Carol headed off to the kitchen here.
a cold morning out there
Suzie off to Plattsville  get the heater fixed.
A different doc came in to check my legs they are swollen a lot so working on those to see if they can help.
See if they can get the swelling down. Exercise, water pills and wrapping seems to help.

Tuna sandwich and ice cream for lunch hit the spot
Today went all out with 2 beers for Happy Hour
very tasty choices
I enjoyed 2 beers today because Suzie's sister Rose and Ross were coming to visit later and taking her out for dinner, so this was my treat. Had a very nice visit with them  enjoyed 2 sloppy Joes, salad and beer then they headed in out for a feast.
very tasty with the help of some hot sauce
This was my productive day and a quick easy fix for the car,
All is good here and was nice to actually meet Bill's sister.

Hope you had an enjoyable day, and glad that ya'll dropped by for a visit.

This posting was done all by me and Suzie not even around to roof read it, hope not too many mistakes.

Just as I was done posting the first blog I read was posted expecially for me ! A fellow blogger we met years ago from Nebraska and restores old cars and lately this the 1970 VW bug, they took to Arizona with them this fall. What an amazing job he did and even posting this Blog just for me along with 2 videos. I have had work on and restored 4 over the years and really love these vehicles.

Car fixed, another great day and cauliflower crust pizza tonight.

Where are we today ?
clic a pic to enlarge it
After heading in shortly after 8 pm last, a bit overcast and still very warm so no sunset picture tonight. Very warm overnight 65F at 5 am with the windows open and fan going was quite comfortable. Got coffees and computing done then took the car down to Pettigrew's Garage for 8 am appointment that we can make finally! This was to replace a right front ball joint that had worn out, after only 2 years, but it is under warranty thats a nice thing .
heading down River road past the cows and into town
Mike got to work on it right away and was all done 40 minutes later, him and Dale do excellent work.
old ball joint not good
the new one in blue brand new
Then I headed to New Hamburg for a few groceries  (making cauliflower pizza tonight) just a few items I needed for that.
interesting skies only drive this morning but no rain
Then home we enjoyed a light lunch. Got the water hose from John's (200 feet) and had a nice hot shower, topped up our fresh water tank. We should be pumped out sometime tomorrow.
Temperatures only got to 84F this afternoon and overcast but not hot enough for me to go for a swim in the pool yet. Yesterday would have been good if the pool was ready.

topping up our fresh water tank
just dragged the water hose from the house
For tonight a cauliflower crust pizza that we really enjoy and when I can get a deal on cauliflower we will do it.  For that recipe you can click HERE or my recipe blog top right sidebar.
riced the cauliflower in my tiny food processor
then in the microwave for 10 minutes
Now we can enjoy this wonderful summer weather in the shade enjoying our reading time. And the quiet times here as well as wonderful views.
A bit later I got the toppings ready for the pizza we really like to load it up.
toppings, pizza sauce, lots of pepperoni, ham , bacon, fresh mushroom,
onions, tomatoes and lots of cheese, olives on my half
Now done perfectly
we could only eat half!

leftovers for lunches
That  was our perfect day, wrapping up this posting outside at 7:20 pm still 75F here in the shade. Gotta get right back into my John Sanford, Virgel Flowers mystery for a while maybe a sunset later on if the skies co-operate.
Glad that y'all dropped on by and hoped you enjoyed some wonderful summer weather as well.

Where have we been this Summer ?

Car repairs, sunshine, lawn mowing and enjoy this sunshine.

Where are we today ?
clic a pic to enlarge it
It was a great night for sleeping again, cold and refreshing just the way we love it! Up at 5 am and 45f outside, 52f inside time to fire up our blue flame heater. Not much time for a walkabout  took the car to Pettigrew's garage for 8 am for some needed repairs. But on the way I got a nice country drive enjoying a wonderful sunrise.
what a nice bright sunrise
cool skies this morning
Now at Pettigrews for 8 am and today Mike is doing the repairs, First was the left rear wheel cylinder that is leaking.
top centre it does not look good
in no time that was replaced
next was our fuel filter
then the tie rod end, they ended up doing both sides
Now with this done lets get a wheel alignment. This new technology for this stuff amazes me , All computerized . Tells them exactly what to do, Love that I can watch these guys here do their stuff.
this computer tells what needs to be done
and you can see as Mike does adjustments
In 2 hours I was back home to whip up a tasty light lunch on a wonderful sunny  but a cold day .
After lunch a quick drive to New Hamburg for a few items at the No Frills. And was so nice to run into old friends from Plattsville from many years ago. Maizie and Harvey. Chatted with them for quite a while.
a nice country drive to New Hamburg
Then back to Camp Awesome to mow the last 1/3rd of this yard just over an acre only takes me about an hour .The last grass cutting here for this year. So glad I got it done before we leave and on a nice dry sunny day.
mowing the back of the yard
our coach is the tiny white spot lower center
Back home done most of my work, store our Weber Q, Roll up our awning so we can get sunshine for heat. Then a nice long hot shower.  Love our Blue flame Heater, moved it by the shower so it was toasty warm there. Uses so little propane and quiet we love it!Our 80 lb propane tank can last us a month or more even using our fridge , stove, hot water and BBQ on propane , so nice. But we do keep a kitchen window open 1/ 2 inch for fresh air and reduce the humidity that can built up with this style of heater. We replaced our Mr Heater last winter after 11 years of good service with this Blue Flame below. More money yes but so worth it when we are dry camping with no hookups.  Thermostat on it, just set the temperature we like and it does the rest. Most of the year.
our blue Flame heater
love it, our own fireplace, silent efficient heat
After a long hot shower outside in the sunshine for a while to enjoy our e-readers,  What great day only 54F.but we have sunshine and mostly out of the wind.
just dress a bit warmer and was wonderful
Soon time to whip up supper. Tonight a couple of Turkey Garlic sausages , salad and acorn squash,(done in the microwave) to go with our tasty salad.
nicer on the Weber Q but this is nice too
very tasty supper hit the spot tonight
That was our day wrapping up a few loose ends here, only one more relaxing day here before we heading on out exploring and searching for sunshine and warmer temps.
Thanks again for joining us and hope y'all had wonderful day as well.

Where have we been this summer?

Car fixed, SNOW !, computer part came in, and a fun Happy hour with friends.

Where are we today ?
clic a pic to enlarge it
Cool overnight but not freezing and about 7:30 this morning I headed into Benson to get the front sway bar on the car replaced at Super Lube Plus.  As I have mentioned before have been dealing with these guys since 2006. Love their great service, decent prices and friendly smiles. Got there just after 8 am and they set to work on  the car, They were all done by 9:30  and the cost we thought was very reasonable $219.00 for the sway bar and only $40.00 labor!  The old sway bar has the ends crimped inside a steel tube and was letting go, The replacement bar has the ends welded in place so should be good for another 300 miles ya think. Now to clarify the milage, the car has been driven 155,000 miles and flat towed 145,000 miles. So everything gets worn for all those 300K miles except the engine .
this be the place
old sway bar coming apart
this is the whole part
a bit of snow on Cochise stronghold east of here
Back home shortly about 10:15 after picking up a few groceries in Benson while there. Had a nice light lunch and then at noon the skies from the west were getting real dark. 15 minutes later we had more snow not a lot but snow none the less. And it was 50F outside so was soon gone in about 1/2 and hour then the sun was shining again.
A bit later Scott and Brownie dropped by to chat, they had fun day trip to Bisbee yesterday and he did a wonderful screen fix on his I-phone. They are heading out on Saturday all 9 of them,
our patio
just a bit of snow, no worries
lawn by the office
Just before noon I looked and saw a Fedex truck pull into the office so checked it out right away. Suzie's package has arrived the new LED, lcd cable for her laptop monitor. Now that was excellent delivery. was ordered this past Sunday from Pennsylvania and arrived here in small town Arizona Wednesday morning. How can you beat that? Called Best Buy in Sierra Vista and will take it in tomorrow morning and should be fixed in a day.
In the meantime I was checking our slide out switch that has been working intermittently so went around the corner to RV City to see if they had one. Checking the shelves not looking good, I need one with 6 pins they only had 5 pin switches. So he called a mechanic in to talk to me and they checked bins in the parts room. They have one with 6 pins only in Black not white. Don't care as long as it works. How much? The guy said try try it out and let me know, he does not know me from Adam.. Wow more great service have I said we love small uptown service? Nothing like small towns to get things done. Not going replace it until tomorrow. Because we are staying longer we have to move sites. This one is reserved  for the weekend, people coming in tomorrow. And we just happen to know our good friends Bill and Patsy are leaving in the morning so we can move to their site and stay until Monday if we wish, Still $12.00 a night including electricity.
That all taken care of is now time for Happy Hour at 3 o'clock in the front clubhouse, with Bill, Patsy, Sandy and Randy, just too cold outside to enjoy. We had a fun time chatting catching up and getting to know each other more, even a few snacks, I brought some Kale chips and Sandy some roasted brussel sprouts done the same way and quite tasty and of course healthy. Just before 4:30 we dispersed and headed back to our homes.
kale and brussel sprouts for snacks
Sandy took this pic
Thanks Sandy
LR Suzie, Patsy, Bill, Randy and Sandy
Back home a couple of hundred feet nice sunny skies but still kinda chilly. We have to move in the morning so we have stowed our Weber Q , tables and chairs , hoses etc so just unplug and move our dish, not a problem . Don;t want to deal with the hoses in the cold morning air tomorrow.
after the clouds and snow cleared up nicely
Supper tonight nice and easy, Suzie's choice was Fetucinni Alfredo with garlic shrimp and a salad. So toasty warm inside I threw it together. Thawed and cleaned the shrimp and then the fetuccinni cooked the way we like it. Because of the very hard water here our pasta some Canada takes at least twice as long, Instead of 10-12 minutes almost 25 minutes to be tender. We are used to that so no problem .
tasty and of course a salad hit the spot
after supper we managed another  decent sunset , the best we can do
from where we are.
Weird weather today but we got some things done and even had some sunshine. A nice Happy hour with friends and wishing Bill and Patsy safe travels on their journey back to Ontario , I am sure we will hook up again and along the way and see Sandy and Randy again before we leave here. And of course Scott and the kids as well.
Thanks for joining us today , we got things done and hope you had a productive, or relaxing day as well.

Where have we been this winter ?

Tuesday, February 27, 2018

Warn sunny day, windy, yup, car issues looked at and really enjoyed the day.

Where are we today ?
clic a pic to enlarge it
Was a very warm night and gonna be a nice sunny day, but windy. No problem got out for a nice walkabout as the sun was rising.
Then at 7:30 am I headed into Benson to get an oil change on our car, at the Super Lube Express .And while there they checked out the thumping in the font end of our car. And just what I thought the sway bar needs to be replaced, kinda worn out. Considering this Saturn is 16 years old and over 500,00 kms (310,00 miles) on it not too bad. No major repairs and still runs like a charm.
heading back home  to Quail Ridge
after the lube got a free car wash,
still in amazing shape
Back home for a light lunch and a few walkabouts, enjoying these warm sunny days. It was windy but we can find spots to stay out of the wind. The sunshine is what we are here for. Most of the day was in the mid 60's f , ok, we may need some warmer clothes but sure beats what we could have back home.
nice walking to the back area, some nice seasonal sites here
gotta love thus Retro Trailer back here
Below the sentry tree that was so tall and proud last fall has finally bit the dust, this was HUGE.!
While outside enjoying the sunshine and reading a couple walked by we met the other day walking with Sandy. And  Suzie got a doggie fix. They are from the UP where Tom and Deb are from Apparently they live just down the road and think they go to the same church. They have seen their Stinger B. Now to ask me their names again? But their dog is Scoby do! Not a chance. sorry this old brain does not remember names, never has.A dog's name though.
doggie fix for Suzie
Scooby do
Yesterday Sandy dropped off some Kale for us, that we had tried the other day at their place . These Kale Chips,we really enjoyed this so I whipped up a batch and they are amazing. Gonna do them again. For the easy recipe you can click HERE or my recipe blog top right sidebar.
crunchy. tasty healthy and addictive
a wonderful warm sunny day
we seen most the day here outside , out of the wind
enjoying our reading between walks
Git a phone cal from the Super Lube in Benson our part is in for the car so I will head beck in the mornings and this repair taken care of. Don;t want to loos our left from wheel on our way home we have to tow this car over 2.000 miles to get there, better safe than sorry.
Soon time for supper, for a treat tonight gonna grill some of these smoked sausage to go with a Mexican rice  that I found in the cupboard and finish the rest of our very tasty fresh asparagus.
not long on the Q, they are smoked
this hit the spot, very tasty
 and enough leftovers
 for a light lunch
Supper done and I managed to catch a bit of a nice desert sunset
Another wonderful desert day , sunshine, clear blue skies and no complaints here. Now tomorrow morning we may have a bit of snow not something we wanna see. But it won't stay long
Gonna hang out here till we get the part for Suzie's computer and get it fixed. Who knows how long that will be, hope fully we can get outta here early next week. We can stay here just need to move sites, no problem. Our plans are written in chalk anyway we still have over a month to get back home.
Wannna  thank you for stopping by and hope you had a wonderful day as well.
