A very mild night last night was 54f at 5 am and gonna be a warm overcast and windy day. No problem, we can enjoy that too, hey it is not cold and no snow. We have a plan. Today gonna check out the
Homestead Heritage Village again, last time was March 17th 2012 you can check that
here if you wish.
We decided this at 7:30 this morning and they don't open until 10 am only 30 miles away. So because I could wash our motorhome and car. no permit required and they have nice soft water here. It has not been washed since early last fall.
warning lots pictures

looks better now |
Did not leave here until 10 and arrived shortly after 10:30 we checked all the buildings and displays , chatted with many of the very friendly people working there demonstrating their crafts. A worthwhile place to visit for sure. Admission is free, but to purchase anything sure makes up for it. No real deals to be had here but still a fun outing.
Took the trail to the Blacksmith shop where they were making some very nice forged pieces.

hand carved wooden spoons, $40,00 heck I have made many of these and gave them away |
Left here and down the road to the cheese factory, tasted some samples but their cheese prices over $30.00 a lb hmm. Guess we are not the kind of shoppers they want here.
They also have a nice market. grocery store and an general store all very nice to check out but again much to pricey for us. I just can't see $6.00 for a dozen eggs! free ranger or whatever,
|
nice conveyors for the check out though |
|
baby chicks at the store, can raise our own chickens for the Weber Q? don't think so |
Ok that was a fun day checking pout all that neat stuff, time to head on home;. Back here by 2 pm raised our feet and enjoyed reading outside in the mostly sunny skies and out of the 25 mph winds, Temperature was 76f but th cooler with the breeze.
I finished one book and dove into another .
Now because of our large tasty lunches not much hungry for supper so a for a change how about a grilled cheddar cheese with dill pickles and ketchup. That sure did the trick and filled the gap.
|
a tasty change for supper |
|
and to wind up a wonderful day a nice colourful sunset |
It was a fun day checking this area out again and would like to thank y';all for dropping by.
Want to learn more about Membership camping
at Rock Glen Family Resort ?
Where have we been this winter ?
$1200.00US for a chair!!!! Wonder who pays that kind of money. No one I know. Nice place though and thanks for the tour. Can't remember the last time we had a grilled cheese sandwich. Now I want one, looks so tasty but I need to buy bread first. We don't eat bread here in Mexico, sometimes tortillas but no bread.
ReplyDeleteIt was a very interesting place to visit, but most of their prices just a bit much. The grilled cheese was a nice treat, we did not eat much bread in Mexico either, their eateries were wonderful though.
DeleteWhat a wonderful place to visit but not a place for my budget either. I could sure do some damage lol
ReplyDeleteIt is a nice place to visit we enjoyed it. No shopping though unless you have deep pockets.
DeleteFrom your pictures looks like it would be a great place to visit...just no shopping...lol
ReplyDeleteGreat sunset picture.
Yes guys it is a great place to check out and yes no shopping for us either.
DeleteHomestead Heritage Village is a neat place. Thanks for the tour. They had some expensive chairs and their cheese is made of gold.
ReplyDeleteThat omelette Suzie had looked delicious. Makes me hungry.
Glad you came along it is a neat place we enjoyed it.The cheese prices, don't think so.
DeleteHer omelette was tasty but again a bit pricey at $11.00.., my Rueben $13,00 both overpriced.
Definitely a great time you two had! Nice that they don't charge you to look around. Lunch looked good too, but your grilled cheese looked great to me. Sometimes it's nice just to have something simple. Great pictures! Love the sunset.
ReplyDeleteThanks guys.
DeleteIt was a nice day getting out and about a bit really enjoyed the homestead. Too many pictures, but less than half of what I took.
What a great place! I'd want to take classes in everything!
ReplyDeleteIt is a very interesting place, cost you a small fortune to take the classes though, but would be fun.
DeleteThat's my kind of sightseeing (seeing but not spending) The area must get a fair amount of vacationers that have some spending money for souvenirs. If it was a "Rembrandt" cheese the price would be justified. At least you can say: "Been there, done that."
ReplyDeleteIt was a fun day to explore, and now this is the second time we have been there done that, forget we were there 6 years ago though.
DeleteAt least the admission was free. Every thing else is not in my budget.
ReplyDeleteIt was fun we had not planned on staying for lunch but no where else handy to grab a bite, so we blew the budget on that.
DeleteGlad you are enjoying your time. The heritage museum looks interesting.
ReplyDeleteLove the water tower, the conveyor checkout (smart!) and the baby chicks.
Keep on enjoying the time there!
It is an area we enjoy and the museum very interesting. I knew you would enjoy the water tower, too.
DeleteThanks guys enjoy BLST too.
A nice heritage site. It's good to keep to old machinery going, and the fact that people can take a course and make furniture the old fasioned way is wonderful. Steep prices, but someone is parting with their cash...
ReplyDeleteYes Peter it is a very nice sight and everything there working just like to old days.
DeleteVery steep prices but we did see people buying stuff.
Beautiful place to visit, I love the look of the old Grist Mill. I guess because entrance is free they charge a pile of the goods to make up for it! The prices are outrageous but I guess people buy it or they wouldn't still be in business.
ReplyDeletewww.travelwithkevinandruth.com
It is a beautiful place to explore but like you said prices outrages.
DeleteNothing there for us but people were spending money.
Looks like a nice place to visit.
ReplyDeleteIt is a very nice place Larry especially if the ladies like to shop and spend lots money.
