Another great day and a day trip to Port Burwell.

Where are we today ?
Just more sunshine and great weather here. A walkabout by the beach 7:30 this morning, we can hear the waves hitting the shore from our campsite so relaxing it is. We do love this area when the weather is great like this.
sunrise across the soft sandy beach here is amazing
Went to the office at 9 am to see if we can stay for two more nights. No problem just need to move from site 50 to site 32. So made those arrangements, back home we secured our coach and relocated and all set up 20 minutes later.
new site just down the road
Now that this is out of the way we had an early lunch and hit the road for a 45  minute drive to Port Burwell. The other place we were going to move to today. So a nice drive along the shores of Lake Erie and back to an old familiar place to see how much it has changed over the years. Not really a heck of a lot. really nice to enjoy this part of southern Ontario that is not a tourist trap.
down the main st of Port Burwell, not much here and
an awesome quiet beach we spent many weekends on.
love this beach, never busy
nice pier to walk out on too
wanna  go fishing? you can

a commercial fishing boat
Then we found that there is a submarine (the Ojibwa) here that we can tour, but not for $18.00 each, think we will just look at the outside and take a picture.

We saved the sightseeing money and went across the river to Martins Fish Market and picked up 3 and 1/2 pounds of fresh pickerel (Walleye for our American friends). Love the pickerel here, we used to come all summer long and stock up for some amazing fish fries years ago.
they packed our fish on ice and we are good to go.
Then a tour of the Port Burwell Provincial park that we were going to head to today but changed our minds. We will leave our coach here at sunny Long Point and just tour with the car.
we toured the campground again reliving old memories of sites
we have camped on years ago then
headed to the day use beach here
boardwalk over the sand dunes
wonderful beach here still
heading back to the car
Now on the way back home we passed many wind farms along the way and stopped by a nice lookout with some interesting information on whats going on here.
Heading back out to the Long Point we passed a few veggie stands and stopped at one to pick up some garden fresh sweet potatoes, spanish onions and beefsteak tomatoes (four bucks)
Now back home again, thought about the beach but too hot there in the sun, so we relaxed here in the shade with a nice cool breeze and our books for a bit.
Soon time for supper and fired up our Weber Q to grill a tasty pickerel fillet 1 and 1/2 pounds. Some fresh cut fries in our Fry Daddy and these amazing field tomatoes.
pickerel fillet done to perfection
This sure hit the spot!, Have been waiting a long time for this fish.
Have leftover for a fish sandwich, tomorrow's lunch
Supper done, walkabout, then a bit of a campfire here on such a beautiful summer evening, gotta love it!
another perfect day
The days just seem to keep getting better and better for us with this wonderful summertime weather.
Wanna thank you again for stopping by and if you were here could maybe cook you supper or at least a happy hour with some tasty appies.

  6. That sure is a good size filet..... I'll have to try doing one like that. I'm surprised you did not have to use tin foil.... right on the grill !

    1. No foil just oil and spice the food, not the grill and make sure the grill has been preheated.
