Nice young Kids, and an awesome beach day!

Where are we today ?

What is a Biosphere Reserve? click here. So much to see and do for the outdoors people who want to hike or bike so many trails.
More wonderful hot weather, again perfect for being at the beach. Walkabouts and listening to the waves lapping the shoreline.
=
huge sites too Rv's  vehicles, boat a trailer
If you remember Sundays Posting HERE. We were next to the playground and a little girl came and asked for a bandaid. We went and cleaned up the cut and she was much better, the parents arrived and were appreciative too.
Well yesterday they stopped in to thank us again with a couple of hand drawn thank you notes. Now how is that for the young children of today's society, sure does make us feel good I tell ya ! Glad we could help out.
The girl that cut her toe is on the left,
 carrying another young un'
a precious souvenir we have
Now today we are enjoying this campground big time. Temps to be about 86 f and they say with humidity gonna feel like 95f. Ok so a quick trip to Port Rowan and pick up a few supplies then back home for and early brunch.  On the way back stopped at a couple look outs to check out the what there is to see. This causeway almost reminds me of the heading out to Key West in Florida last fall, narrow roads and water on both sides but this is only about 6 miles long.
Neighbor stopped by to ask about our satellite dish, gave him some info, had a bite to eat then we headed on down to the beach! What a perfect day for it too!
they have these fences along the road way to stop the
wildlife from running across the road and being run over.
this is the Long Point into Lake Erie
awesome camp sites in the dunes that we loved
Now for supper I doing twice baked potatoes, so right after lunch I baked them on our Weber Q while we are reading our books for a bit.
all baked
slice the top off
scoop out the insides
Then mash up the insides with lotsa stuff, butter, cream cheese, sour cream, shredded cheese, bacon, parsley then put all that back in the tater shells. Keep in the fridge until time for supper.
Now we can go to the beach, perfect day for it about 85f but the weather channel says 95 f with humidity. Super hot here but a couple hundred yards to the beach and we have a nice breeze. Our beach umbrella all set up, beach chairs and our books we have it made.
perfect beach day
our spot on the beach

me heading out for a swim
me coming back
Well we spent a few hours on the beach today and it was awesome! Reminded us of the Beach we stayed at in Mazatlan Mexico for 2 months in 2009/10. The water was very warm here but not salty, no jelly fish, no pelicans, no dolphins, no Mexican vendors and no Margaritas on the beach but hey, it was still wonderful right here in Ontario Canada!
Now close to 4 pm headed back home for our own 'Happy Hour", got our books our for a bit and started a campfire with some left over wood from last  night.
Then about 5 o'clock fired up our Weber Q to warm up the twice backed taters, fresh mushrooms and onions in foil and grill a couple very tender bacon wrapped beef tenderloin steaks for supper. Also heated up a couple potato buns with garlic butter and some peas to go on the side with the fresh field tomatoes too.
yep it sure hit the spot
Now guess what?  Our day is done and it was awesome again, does it get much better? Hmm not sure. Tomorrow we are hitting the road first thing in the morning back to Plattsville where we will be hanging out for a while, family stuff thats need to be looked after.
Wanna  thank you again for stopping on by, always enjoy the company.

Another great day and a day trip to Port Burwell.

Where are we today ?
Just more sunshine and great weather here. A walkabout by the beach 7:30 this morning, we can hear the waves hitting the shore from our campsite so relaxing it is. We do love this area when the weather is great like this.
sunrise across the soft sandy beach here is amazing
Went to the office at 9 am to see if we can stay for two more nights. No problem just need to move from site 50 to site 32. So made those arrangements, back home we secured our coach and relocated and all set up 20 minutes later.
new site just down the road
Now that this is out of the way we had an early lunch and hit the road for a 45  minute drive to Port Burwell. The other place we were going to move to today. So a nice drive along the shores of Lake Erie and back to an old familiar place to see how much it has changed over the years. Not really a heck of a lot. really nice to enjoy this part of southern Ontario that is not a tourist trap.
down the main st of Port Burwell, not much here and
an awesome quiet beach we spent many weekends on.
love this beach, never busy
nice pier to walk out on too
wanna  go fishing? you can

a commercial fishing boat
Then we found that there is a submarine (the Ojibwa) here that we can tour, but not for $18.00 each, think we will just look at the outside and take a picture.

We saved the sightseeing money and went across the river to Martins Fish Market and picked up 3 and 1/2 pounds of fresh pickerel (Walleye for our American friends). Love the pickerel here, we used to come all summer long and stock up for some amazing fish fries years ago.
they packed our fish on ice and we are good to go.
Then a tour of the Port Burwell Provincial park that we were going to head to today but changed our minds. We will leave our coach here at sunny Long Point and just tour with the car.
we toured the campground again reliving old memories of sites
we have camped on years ago then
headed to the day use beach here
boardwalk over the sand dunes
wonderful beach here still
heading back to the car
Now on the way back home we passed many wind farms along the way and stopped by a nice lookout with some interesting information on whats going on here.
Heading back out to the Long Point we passed a few veggie stands and stopped at one to pick up some garden fresh sweet potatoes, spanish onions and beefsteak tomatoes (four bucks)
Now back home again, thought about the beach but too hot there in the sun, so we relaxed here in the shade with a nice cool breeze and our books for a bit.
Soon time for supper and fired up our Weber Q to grill a tasty pickerel fillet 1 and 1/2 pounds. Some fresh cut fries in our Fry Daddy and these amazing field tomatoes.
pickerel fillet done to perfection
This sure hit the spot!, Have been waiting a long time for this fish.
Have leftover for a fish sandwich, tomorrow's lunch
Supper done, walkabout, then a bit of a campfire here on such a beautiful summer evening, gotta love it!
another perfect day
The days just seem to keep getting better and better for us with this wonderful summertime weather.
Wanna thank you again for stopping by and if you were here could maybe cook you supper or at least a happy hour with some tasty appies.

A quiet morning walk on the beach before it gets too hot.
walking along the beach in the warm water
We had a lovely afternoon enjoying this amazing weather and just relaxing in the shade at or site enjoying our books until 3:30. Then hopped in the car and headed on over to visit with Ron and Sharon  a super couple we met in Willis Texas, Ashdown Arkansas and Rock Glen resort in Arkona this past spring they do post a blog occasionally and you can check them out HERE The Princess and the Cowboy. They have a seasonal site close to Long Point and spend most of the winter in south Texas.
Ron and Sharon
We got the full tour of their amazing site, so much to see here and all of Sharon's hobbies to display. They picked up a but of bowls balls last winter and she had done an amazing job decorating them for the garden.
Also glass bowls and dishes she pick up at yard sales
and creates flower displays, so amazing.

bowling ball

mushrooms from glass bowls etc.
then we have Ron's "Man Cave"
workshop/storage shed
water trough for your horse
miniature golf course
nice outdoor living room too
We had been invited for a  "Weber" moment at their place, to catch up and tell lies around the campfire. So thats what we did. Only Ron did the cooking and I got to watch, bonus!
fire up his Weber Q 120
fresh Ontario Candy Corn on the campfire
Tender fall of the bone pork ribs and baked taters
Sharon added some baked beans she whipped up
Well I am telling you it was very tasty supper that we thoroughly enjoyed and to finish off with a very light moist pineapple angel food cake. Boy did they spoil us!
this desert was beyond words, sorry Rick no leftovers
Now rolled away from the table and enjoyed telling even more lies around this colorful campfire that made with his "magic" wood.
Well its getting dark and almost past my bedtime. We had a fun visit and great meal with great new friends, but need to call it a night.
Glad you stopped by and hope you can drop by again soon.
