Where are we today ?
Well we have been here for more than two weeks and we are ready to move again. The weather today is kinda off and on but we have a few things to do after the regular walkabouts and stuff. Gotta do laundry in town (we dry camping for about 10 days) and have to chat with a few neighbours here and there.
Got the tires checked and few things outside put away. Checking the right front tire I discovered behind it, next the exhaust manifold on our engine, a birds nest. Pulled it down and a Robins nest with two eggs. Unfortunately when I pulled it down one egg did not make it but one did. We are leaving here in the morning so had to remove the nest anyway. Too bad about this tragedy, we have only been here for just bit over two weeks, who would have known the nest would be built that fast, never had a clue.
with a lot of luck this one may hatch |
After a nice visit we headed back home and had a short, cool happy hour with Emile and Monique next door. Pretty soon its too cold, so inside and whip up supper. The plan for tonight was plan "A" pork ribs on the BBQ. Put its overcast, windy and too cold out, so went to Plan "B", sweet and sour ribs with sauerkraut and onions, a couple potatoes quickly done in our pressure cooker and some fresh steamed broccoli. That's actually much quicker and very tender fall off the bones ribs. (15 minutes under pressure and all done!)
Ribs, kraut, potatoes and broccoli, so yummy |
Heading out in the morning to travel a bit of Ontario countryside and end up in Elmira Ontario for Julie and Geoffs Stage and Doe tomorrow night. Julie figure skated and competed with our daughter Jessica about twenty years ago.
Supposed be a nice day to travel, not sure which way we will go, love road trips in our coach!
Come back tomorrow (or probably probably later Sunday morning, it will be a late night Saturday for sure, way past my bedtime) and see how we made out. I just know we will have fun!
Check out the map below to see where we have been this summer
I get hitch itch when we stay in one spot for a long time. It's then that we either need to move the coach or take more day trips.
ReplyDeleteYes we gotta keep moving so the birds don't nest on us!
DeleteStill after all these years I'm always amazed at the blue of a robins egg.
ReplyDeleteYes they are an amazing blue!
DeleteSuch a shame about the nest and eggs. Poor mommy robin, all that work but what can you do?
ReplyDeleteHave fun at the Stag and Doe.

It is a shame like you said.
DeleteWe will have fun for sure!
Nothing you can do about the nest, likely mama will not come back. Hopefully next time she finds a tree as opposed to your sheltered spot. Have fun tonight.
ReplyDeleteYes too about her choice, wish her better luck next time.
ReplyDeleteWe always have fun.
Another great looking dinner! Safe travels today.
ReplyDeleteJust love touring the countryside on a nice sunny day.
DeleteYep, & we sure got lots of great country roads to travel on in these parts too:))
