A nice quiet Sunday morning and quite a bit cooler today, only 70f with a cool breeze, had to wear a sweater with my shorts and t shirt, not used to this. I think we are definitely spoiled.
But the sun was shining and a beautiful cloudless blue sky. Nice for a walkabout the desert and a chat with a few other rv'ers hiding from the cold and snow they left back home. Always love just staring at the tranquility of the lagoon here, its so relaxing.
Lagoon
Lagoon
There is the hot springs and lagoon across the street from us right beside I-8 almost invisible from the highway.
our Oasis
Walked about and checked out Hogan's Hilton again a cool looking bus conversion that's a regular fixture on the BLM lands here. Mrs. Hogan dropped by our happy hour with two large bags, gifts for all of us. One containing many heads of cauliflower the other full of broccoli, she had checked out a field down the road that had just been harvested, these were just leftovers, free to those who care to walk the fields.

Now our friends here Don and Ailene have an extravagant solar setup. They are completely solar powered for all their electrical needs. 19 solar panels and 10 batteries (notice the window awnings are solar panels too), impressive. Mind you they don't tow their trailer back to Ontario for the summer, they leave it here in storage.
19 Solar panels
The afternoon was nice for reading in the sun until its time for Happy Hour and once again another feast. Tonight's buffet was crackers and cheese, a hug pot of Ailenes vegetable soup, chips and dips, polish sausage and we brought a large tray of coconut shrimp. We pretty well cleaned it up and nobody went home hungry I am sure.
a good feast
Once the sunset it was everybody home and inside the temperature drops about 20 degrees f. We can read, compute and watch a bit of tv before calling it a night.

Great shots of solar panel set ups. Hard to believe that the veggies are just left there in the field. At least you all will make use of it. Whose making veggie soup for happy hour?
Nice solar set up your friend has. Bet the cauliflower and broccoli were mighty fine tasting coming straight from the field like that. Can't say any amount of money would buy you much of a better time then you are having as far as friends, socials, or relaxation.
Well the solar is a bit of overkill like you said, but they do no travel much anymore, with the trailer. The panels all fold down and they put the trailer in storage here, Use the truck camper to go back to Ontario, he is 78. So they are doing good!

Good friends and funtimes is what it is all about. The veggies were awesome too!

ReplyDeleteLots of veggies yes!
Ailene made the veggie soup.
19 solar panels and 10 batteries, sounds like a bit of overkill if you ask me. What do they do with the solar panel awnings when they are travelling?
