This morning we are up early, coffees, computing walkabout, jacks up, slide in and heading west 194 miles (312 kms). Still travelling I-10 since New Orleans back in October.
today's journey
Love the desert scenery, and even the names of some places we see along the way.
looking for the wild horses, in Phoenix AZ.
A little further along a rest area to get out and stretch, such beautifully landscaped areas to pull over for a picnic and walk your pets, but better keep an eye on them!
watch out for desert critters
I like the maps that are posted in these rest areas keeps me from getting lost. Tells us where we are with a big red arrow "You Are Here", kinda keeps me focused.
Just cruising along listening to nonstop, commercial free Christmas Carols on our satellite radio, getting into the Christmas spirit just rolling on down the road.
With Quartzsite coming up we can't just drive by, there is two exits so we take the first one and drive down the quiet main street (we will be back in January when things get busy) to the west end and decide to stop at Carl's jr for lunch and a fast food fix. First time here and it was a pretty good, huge, very messy, and filling burger with lots of toppings.
quiet main st.
After a tasty lunch we are back on I-10 for 20 minutes to Ehrenberg AZ, our destination for the next week.
There is not much here except a few RV parks and the Colorado river, (Arizona's west coast). California is on the other side . Colorado River Oasis, is where we are, love this free camping!
here we are
As we we stopped to check in we chatted with a couple from Alberta. They noticed that we were from Ontario and mentioned they met a couple from Ontario last winter. And were wondering if they might see them. The couples name is Mike and Vera, he has large side burns. I said yeah we know them, met them in California last winter too and they stayed at our home park last summer. I have their email address would you like it? Such a small world for sure!
a nice site
Now all set up its hot and sunny, and we have a nice cement patio and our very own tree, to relax in the shade and enjoy our books for the afternoon, until 5:30 (its only 4:30 across the river in California) when the sun set with some lovely desert colours.
nice sunset
So not real hungry I just whipped up a couple of loaded hot dogs and a few chips for supper. To satisfy another raving.
a lazy supper
Now to relax, compute and read for a while, then the TV can watch me sleep. We are gonna be here for 7 nights!
