Sat. Dec 17, Movin on down the road

Join us as we travel North America in our Holiday Rambler Vacationer,
 since August 2006

 Where are we Today?

We now we have been at Picacho Peak rv resort for two nights and its time to move on. I mean in two days we socialized and got re-aquainted with so many friends, happy hours, a hilarious stage production, and darts where Suzie and her partner came in third place. Sure wears a person out right? Well Picacho Peak is not a membership park and even with our Good Sam discount was $27.00 a night (we are spoiled with membership rates) so we moved down the road 30 miiles to Desert Shadows at Casa Grande . A very nice membership resort with heated pool, hot tub, nice sites with cement patios and cost us  $9.00 a night much more affordable. They have a craft show going on and live entertainment if we feel like too.

But we arrived and were set up by 10.00am had a bite to eat then headed off to the Mesa  Market Place. A huge Flea Market/Swap meet that we enjoy wandering about. There is 1 and 1/4 miles of covered shopping lanes and 1600 booths to explore.  Its about an hour away but a nice desert drive to get there.
Mesa Market
We had just arrived and my daughter called saying she made a bobo, the christmas video on skype was today! Hmm we planned on that tomorrow, but we still had time to stroll the Market place for a couple hours and check out the bargains.

they have it all
Entering one lane and almost as far as you can see is vendors. Chatting with people, looking, at interesting stuff, just browsing. All the gizmos and gimmicks available if you are so inclined, fun to check out thou. I did find a few good deals, some zip ties, a flexible socket extension, (mine broke), and some nice peppers, spaghetti squash and broccoli. Even just reading the sayings on the Red Dirt Shirts is fun!
My Indian name is "Runs With Beer"
hmmm,,,, of course he is!
There is quite few food vendors here to satisfy your hunger and thirst, plus huge the central food court with free live entertainment.
You can even grab a beer and stroll the marketplace
very good singer
Well a few hours of walking about was fun, we spent a bundle here ($7.00 total) time to head back home.
mountains in the distance
Just love this area with good flat roads thru the desert and always a mountain range somewhere in the distance.
sun rays
Ok now back home booted up my Macbook and on to skype. My daughter Kim has everybody at their house for an early Christmas get together. So my three children, their spouses and 5 grandchildren (oldest 8) were zipping around, in and out of the views chatting with us wishing everybody a Merry Christmas and sampling some of Jessie's gluten free baking, looked so good! Gotta love the technology. While my son Ken holds the I-pad for Kim, daughter Jessica took this picture and emailed it to us.
Kim and Ken
Now with all the noise and commotion, confusion and mayhem, excited little ones were just having a ball and tired us out just watching their get together. As I just said gotta love modern technology, we can still be there 3,000 miles away!

With this busy day taken care of, I'm gonna use up some more of our rotisserie chicken with a hot chicken sandwich, gravy, creamy whipped potatoes, broccoli and carrots.
Now we can relax with our books and a bit of tv for a nice quiet evening.

  1. How special to be able to share in the family festivities. Good for the grandkids to keep in touch with you both. Do you remember Patti & Simon from RV1, they are in Casa Grande for the winter.

  5. TnT:

The Christmas was excellent, we do it every year! Will try for Suzie's Family some day soon too.

The bushings yes BIG difference. From original coach we bought. The improvements we did Koni FSD shocks, Michelin tires, front end alignment, now the bushings its a dream to drive. This class "A" hardly sways at all going down the road much less fatigue. Our newer class "C" and even our ford van conversion was hard to handle in any winds.

Interesting , I have a Mac and Suzie had the PC, nice to have the best of both worlds. And skype does work well if you have a good hispeed connection, if not don't use the video and just talk.
