Where are we today ?

What a wonderful summer like night, windows wide open fantastic fan pulling a nice breeze across the bed, yup this is the way we like it. Slept like babies and I even slept in until 5:30 this morning later than usual but thats ok still did not miss the part of the day I love.
At 7 am quite warm out and got a couple of nice walkabouts done before we headed out to Tavistock for the Stere Family reunion (Suzie's Family) held the second Sunday in June every year. We left just before 11 am and about an 80 minute back country drive there. Some people drove as much as 6 hours or more to come here, dedicated family members at least one couple from New York.
This year's attendance was down a bit 93 people signed in and a a few more did not I figured close to 110. For many reasons some are farmers and taking advantage of the perfect weather putting in Hay. The weather was a perfect hot sunny weekend so I am sure some were camping, at cottages or the beaches taking advantage of it, and heard that a hockey game was on TV that some people just can't miss. Still not a bad turnout.

the Memorial Hall |

lotsa people there we knew , especially Suzie even some that follow our Travels chatted with us |
|
as usual lots great food |
|
buffet lineup went quickly |
|
no way we could try everything but I tried |
|
lots of amazing deserts as well n I sampled the Mississippi Mud, excellent as usual |
Nobody went away hungry I am sure, if they did it was their own fault . The 72 sausage rolls I made yesterday we a big hit and disappeared quickly as I knew they would.
|
we might be around for this, not sure |
After the meal draw for door prizes etc. we did not win anything this year, but that's ok. Then lots of kids games for the little ones, keep them busy while the adults socialize.
|
kids happy doing things |
After all the conversation wound down we head out about 3:30 and made our way back to Rock Glen. Nice that the hall was air-conditioned as well as our car with the temps in the mid 90's most of the day
Got home just before 5 pm and was 98f (36C) here and over 100 F inside our coach. So fire up our one AC and soon down to a comfortable 80f while we enjoyed a nice shady spot outside in the shade with a nice refreshing breeze enjoying our e-readers.

a perfect shady spot on a hot summer day |

Now here it is after 9 pm , still outside, blog posted enjoying the nice warm bug free weather here, just cause we can why rush inside? We want to take advantage of as much of this wonder fresh air as we can get.
Thanks for dropping on by today and hope you enjoyed a wonderful weekend as well.
Where have we been this summer ?
Now that's a large family!! So wonderful that you all get together like that. Yes, there appeared to be plenty of food. Glad it was a great day!
ReplyDeleteBug free is always good😀
Always a pretty good turnout. always fun. It sure was a wonderful day too.
DeleteWith all that food, it looks like a good time!
ReplyDeleteYes FG it sure was.
DeleteReunions are always fun. We haven't had one for years in my family but will this October in conjunction with our 50th wedding anniversary. That was quite a plateful you had to eat. Living full time like we and you do, it is usually best not to win anything as then you need to try and fit it in the coach.
ReplyDeleteA 50th anniversary sure is a great one to celebrate
DeleteThat was my food for the day, no more required, you are right about not winning anything unless it;s consumable.
Reunions can be fun seeing people you don't see often and gotta love the food selection!
ReplyDeleteYes they are always fun, and the food excellent as usual.
DeleteI think you made a great effort at trying every thing - I do the same thing.
ReplyDeleteDid my best, but was not possible.
DeleteHoly smokes, that's not a family it's an army! :cD
ReplyDeleteYup you are right a very large family on her side.
DeleteFamily reunions are a lot of fun. We have one in August on my mother's side every year. My father's side is just a first cousin adventure. Looks like you had lots of food to share too.
ReplyDeleteThey are lotsa fun and great food as always.
